About
A hero with a flaw
Wiktor Szulski is a thaumaturge, a master of mystical arts, who can peer into the hearts and minds of others, uncovering their deepest emotions, desires, and secrets. However, his powers also feed into his flaw of pride, which can present him with various opportunities or lead to negative consequences.

Untold mysteries waiting to be revealed
No secret or intrigue is safe when the thaumaturge is around. Your unique abilities will give you a great edge in solving detective investigations, becoming a savvy socialite or even dealing with the criminal underground. Explore the world using Wiktor’s perception, seeking personal secrets hidden in objects, that provide different perspectives on events that may seem obvious at first glance.
Taming mythical creatures
As a thaumaturge, you draw your power from the ability to summon salutors – mystical, folklore-inspired demons that inhabit the ethereal realm. Use their powers to manipulate your foes, sway the minds of allies, and fight opponents in turn-based tactical combat.

Unique turn-based combat
Engage in deep, tactical combat against various opponents – some physical, others more elusive. Wiktor's thaumaturgical abilities let you bend the rules of reality, summoning demons to unleash powerful attacks or gain strategic advantages.
A rich gallery of characters
The early 20th-century Warsaw is a multicultural metropolis with inhabitants from all walks of life. Among them, you’ll meet historical figures like the monk Rasputin or Tsar Nicholas II. The story also introduces you to a gallery of characters connected to Wiktor’s troubled past such as his well-versed sister Ligia or Abaurcy, a childhood friend who turned to a life of crime.

Features:
· Play an isometric RPG in which your choices will shape the final outcome of the story.

This is a 60% yes... Pros: + Game's setup, background, lore, characters are all quite interesting + Generally interesting story + good amount of choices/endings to quests and story + Good writing + Good isometric graphics + Good length, I do everything the game has to offer in a playthrough in about 20-22 hours. Game does not overstay its welcome. + Good voice acting Neutral: = Lots of reading, this is borderline a visual novel trapped inside a wrapper of adventure game = Forgettable combat, combat has limited depth... I played on Normal difficulty. Without spoiling anything, you get a bit more choices and combinations as you progress and level up, but ultimately you are only doing things slightly differently and will mostly follow 1 or 2 tactics throughout the whole game. I was basically auto piloting the second half of the game... And they sprinkle you with A LOT of combat. Some fights are really unfair even and will kill you on easy if you are not careful. Cons: - Small, unmeaningful interactions could lock you out of certain endings. This can be a good thing if you want to figure everything out by yourself and are prepared to do like 5-6 playthroughs. Otherwise, some early game stuff can lock you out right at the end without any indication. Annoying stuff. - Walking simulator in disguise. This game makes you walk a lot. Even more so if you want to do all side content. I spent like 20 hours for my first playthrough with all side contents done. I would say 5 hours in there was me walking everywhere. - Wasted gameplay opportunity. As a Thaumaturge you are finding out clues and try to figure out info piece by piece. But as a player you don't really do that. You just keep spamming the "detection" button and pick up anything that is shown on screen (each item with a wall of text), and the game will automatically show you the conclusion. This turns the game into a walk and click game and that's why I call it a visual novel, you are just following things as they unfold, you are not really participating in anything except story choices. - Some story elements and character behaviors are quite confusing near the end, don't want to spoil it but when I go search it online I found lots of players having the same confusion. - Weird graphics glitches, character heads will snap left and right randomly instead of fluid movement, there was one time when I was at "home" the screen has a screen tearing effect near the lower 1/3 of the screen. And the game stutters randomly after saving. Not deal breaking but annoying. All in all, this is a game worth playing to experience the amazing world they built. If you are a achievement hunter, 2 playthroughs or at least 1.5 playthroughs are needed, and make sure to refer to a guide or prepare to do 2+ playthroughs.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 25 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 10 places towards #1, and the 2,413 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Read the Eula, 11bit sucks. They profile you, tie your information to your IP address, and have free rein to share this information with anyone for any reason. Adjusting to this new age where spyware is legal and hidden in everything blows.
An interesting idea with flawed execution, details below: Pros + Fairly interesting story + Cool concept of investigating and capturing spirits to use like Jojo stands + Visually pleasing setting of early 20th century Warsaw +/- Passable music (not very memorable however) Cons - Voice acting is mediocre, which in a dialogue-heavy game really drags it down - The investigation-focused gameplay necessitates revisiting previous locations way too many times, spent half the game running from location to location with little actual payoff - Combat gets repetitive fast, from act II most basic enemies even get unexplained special traits that only further make things annoying (if not more difficult). The fact many fights are unavoidable only serves to frustrate further. Conclusion? An interesting if time-consuming title weighed down by its own flaws. Made it roughly halfway through before getting tired of the endless repetition of constant location revisiting and forced combat. Only for the patient RPG players with a specific niche.
This game depicts a unique slice of history that is not explored well in videogames, albeit in a very biased way. Unfortunately it is all it has going for it. As a videogame it does not withstand any critique with very shallow gameplay of a click button, follow the red line to quest destination, exhaust dialogues, click through every clue. There is not deduction here, everything is on rails. Combat is boring, repetitive and serves to prolong the games length. Builds are also non existent due to combat being so boring. All in all, it is not a bad game, but it is another example of indie developers biting more than they could chew. If it would be a purely narrative, shorter game without needless shallow combat and Witcher's Sense "detective" work it would be a much better game. As it stands however, 5/10, buy it only in you are really into the time period or the aesthetics.
好玩,画质也很好,感觉这个游戏的文化底蕴很深厚,本地汉化给满分
“I’m afraid we’ve got a few things to explain to one another, preferably through violence.”
First: Overall Rating ★★★★★ The Thaumaturge takes place in 1900s Poland, under the occupation of Russia. Wiktor Szulski is a Thaumaturge capable of great power with the help and guidance of Rasputin, a charismatic and mystic monk with unprecedented abilities. (Yes, Russia’s greatest love machine Rasputin.) Wiktor has many talents— canonically— including a natural penchant for ruining marriages, a flaw of pride, and an unending reservoir of sarcasm and biting wit. However, your choices do matter and people do remember them for better or for worse, meaning that Wiktor does and can change throughout the story depending on how you speak with people, what quests you do, how much you have leveled your dimensions (Heart, Deed, Mind or Word) and what information you have gathered. Full disclosure: the game mostly picks up in the later half of Act 1 and really ramps up in Act 2/3. Act 1 really focuses on introducing the world, the mechanics and some of the characters. Now, I bought this game in 2024 when it came out, but put it in my backlog because I already had a variety of other games I was already playing. I wish I’d played it sooner! A game being able to grasp me and pull me in to this extent is rare, and makes it a gem of a game in my opinion. There are easily missable achievements, but there are two very good guides on Steam to help with that if you’re interested in achievement hunting (neither are mine, so this isn’t a self promo). In all honesty you get almost all of these easily if you walk around and spam your ability, which I recommend you do. You learn much of the world and get many quests this way just as you investigate everything else. Some of these are gated by when you progress the main story, so if you want to explore all this game has to offer only progress the main story after you have cleared the majority of your side quests. Don’t be alarmed if some are still incomplete by the end of an act, some do cross over acts as well. I recommend checking over areas multiple times, sometimes there’s more to be found than you could find the first time. Exploration is highly encouraged and rewarded by this game. This game plays beautifully on the Steamdeck, though I do recommend only using the actual charger it comes with because this game is very intensive and will drain your battery expeditiously. Unlike a lot of other people I know, I (usually) go into games as blindly as possible and learn the world and characters as the story wants to tell it. I do it this way because I want to make my own conclusions about the characters and who I believe they genuinely are without the influence of knowing certain endings or decisions. Afterwards I decide whether I want to pursue some achievement hunting. With that in mind, I played a
more humble Wiktor that got along with his twin sister Ligia, who did not grow his flaw and who attempted to deal with situations with at least a little bit of grace.
That locked me out of the
high pride
dialogue and ending(s) so I’m looking forward to exploring that in another playthrough. Your playthrough may be entirely different, depending on how you decided to grow Wiktor’s personality. Some of the things I really enjoyed: ✅ the lore is awesome. Salutors are not exactly a new concept (demons, deities, ghosts, creatures etc.) but this game handles it very intriguingly. ✅ I don’t see much media at all set in this time period (especially in Warsaw), so I was extra excited to see a game convincingly set in this timeline. Most settings are set during the wars and not what came before. Because I am a history nerd, I read all of what the game had to offer in tidbits with the newspapers and notes and never got bored. ➡️ However, I’d like to note: this game does reference/show the antisemitism that was rampant at the time. This game takes place in 1905 (with magical historical alterations such as salutors and thaumaturges), WWII started in 1939. There was a long period of time that lead up to the Holocaust where that hatred festered and flourished, unfortunately. The Thaumaturge does not hold back on the attitudes of the time period. I only mention this because the subject is still a very fresh wound for some. ✅ the graphics, this game is absolutely lovely. ✅ Wiktor’s seemingly one sided conversations with Upyr who manages to convey his judgment incredibly well for having such a skeletal face. ✅ the entire onion/fork situation ✅ The character design and details are fantastic. I love the fact that there is a specific quest to dress up Wiktor. They do also have great fashion in this game in general though, I love a lot of the outfits I’ve seen throughout my playthrough. ✅ I’ve enjoyed exploring every corner of the maps. There seems to be more things to do and find every time I go back into areas, and even the side quests just to find urban secrets are mysterious and fun. ✅ I touched on salutors briefly but it’s worth adding that the designs, lore and flaws they’re attracted to are so interesting. The devs put a lot of thought into the salutors they chose to focus on, and I was always looking for more info on them and their impact within the game. Also for the record Dybbuk’s design was SO cool and it’s such a shame we only saw him briefly. I also wish we could have gotten to see Paimon in game…
but I’m so glad we got to see Baalberith!
I was also so excited to see Morana and I love her design the most. ✅ Rasputin’s character was so interesting to me. So much is shrouded in stories and legend, but this game certainly gives him a personality and motivations. I like that I never knew what to expect from him or his answers. There is definitely that charisma and charm, but you also know that he has his own plans and goals with or without you. His abilities are so much different than anything else we see in the game that I just enjoyed every time we had to interact with him because I enjoy his character and his mystery. ✅ despite the rather grim things that happen in parts of this game, it never loses its personality and charm. There were quite a few times that I had to laugh at some of the truly unexpected situations/quips that come up. ✅ there is something about this game that is so magnetic and addictive that I just wanted to play it all the time. Minor quibbles: ❌ quick and frequent saves are your friend, this game is abysmal at autosaving at any time that will be useful to you. ❌ I love a challenge, but it did seem kind of odd to me that the level of challenge in fights varied so much and it wasn’t even dependent on the area or act. ➡️ However this game is great about forcing you to change strategies based on some fights. It was nice to not get comfortable in one way of fighting through the whole game, I like getting to try all the different upgrades for abilities. ❌ the resolution of the
Golem
situation felt a little hand wavey compared to the thought put in the rest of the game. ❌ while I love games where choices really do matter, there are two instances in particular that the game seems to consider good decisions for a good ending… and I don’t agree. For one of them you have
to take your cousin’s flaw at the end of Act 1 or you’re locked out of Mind 7 for one of Rasputin’s endings.
For the other,
giving Ariel the golem is necessary for at least one of the good endings but Ligia losing her flaw takes a huge toll on her for the rest of her life.
Neither of those should have been forced to reach some of the good endings. The rest of the game is pretty good about respecting your choices, but these two are the exceptions. I’m not a huge fan of that. All in all, this is a fantastic game from start to finish and I’ve immensely enjoyed my time playing it. 5/5
This game is incredible and really different from your typical RPG, from the main character, the NPCs, the environment, the theme and the way to solve any quest. The world feels lived in, the NPCs are unique and accurate to what you could encounter back then. BUT the game never falls too hard into terrible cliché tropes. Many quests and NPC will surprise you, in the way they're written and executed. There are different ways to solve quests, you can be as hasty as you want or really investigate, find ways to solves things peacefully or just let your fists do the talking. The dialogs are enchanting as they felt so alive. The gameplay of the thaumaturge is also original, the theme with the "Flaws" is innovative. I loved the combat although it can be punishing depending on your difficulty mode. The protagonist, Wiktor, is fantastic and can act in different ways depending on the choices you make but will not be the typical "male badass" we see so much of in other games. He is sensible, intelligent, proud and educated but still empathetic and curious about everything he encounters. He is not naive nor is he a bitter individual. You can enact justice or you can look the other way, you can help foment political coups or work against the proletariat. It's all up to you. The game has so many options and if I understood correctly, different endings depending on the choices you make all throughout the story. I love this game, I haven't finished it yet but there are so many side quests! Some of them may be a little "for the collection" but others can reveal some pretty grim or interesting stories. There are also different customization options, costumes and barber, for you to make Wictor the mustached dandy of your dreams! I just started a new game as I write this review because I had to take a long break and felt I could start a better playthrough as I understand some game mechanics better now. Bonus point, a more personal note: I love the historical points in the game, I got to learn more about Poland, the country of my ancestors. This game fills me in about the historical context of that era and the way things looked, the districts of Warsaw, some cultural points and places etc. + Rasputin is there and it made me really interested in learning more about him, outside of the "urban legends" following the man. Well done Fool's Theory, cannot wait to see more of this game, hopefully there will be a sequel or a DLC at some point!
It's actually an interesting story. It was ok, then Rasputin telephoned me and that massively improved the game.
