The Tenants is a 5/10 for me. I have played this game for about 83 hours, and there are still some bugs that need to be fixed. An example is when a tenant asks you to renovate a room in their house, or replace stolen items (and put monitoring systems in), and the game will not allow you to leave after renovating. When that happens, you have to close out of the game completely (ESC does not work). Another issue I have is that keeping your tenants happy is extremely difficult. I have looked for guides and advice from people on Steam and other online forums, but unfortunately, not much help is out there. They also do not have any guidance on how to keep tenants happy in the guidebook that is in the game. Personally, I think the game tends to get very repetitive, and I get bored. An example is having to do Elite Contracts at least 3 times each so that you can purchase the property, although some properties are much harder to come by than others (one including the "Slums Mansion" which is needed for an achievement. I had to do that job 6 times before it showed up on the "Purchase" tab. With all of that being said, this game has some good qualities as well. The time management aspect, playing the different contracts (one time), and creating homes/ apartments based on the personality type of the tenant/s you want can all be very fun. Lastly, I did some research and found that, unfortunately, the game may be considered "abandoned". I did not find any definitive proof or reasoning, only speculation. I tried finding a statement from the devs and Ancient Forge in general, and did not find anything. The game has only had one DLC since 2023, and I have heard that it made other players' games "unplayable". The reason I gave this game a 5/10 and the biggest disappointment for me personally, is that if the game is truly no longer being worked on, there are certain achievements (like the Community Event achievement called “Community Champion”) that are no longer attainable, which means the "Achievement Hunter" achievement is also no longer attainable. I am someone who likes to get all of the achievements in games because it makes me feel like I truly explored every aspect of the game. I hope that the game can be worked on and improved in the future. From my research it seems that many people want to see new content and bug fixes. All in all, if you read this review to see if I think this game is worth purchasing, I would say that it is worth it if it is on sale for a couple of dollars or if the devs decide to work on it again. If the devs do not come back to work on it, or the game is full price, I don't personally recommend it and instead recommend the game "House Flipper".

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

It's not a bad game but its not good either. got stuck on some stupid side mission looking for someone else's parrots all over town. terrible side mission. Decorating spaces youre never going to see again gets old and unrewarding. The property management part of the game is solid. It's the most rewarding part of the game (and should be given what it is.)
This was a great game until they abandoned it. Surprisingly today they release a version for PS5 and Xbox yet they havent been maintaining or taking care of the people that own their game on PC. I wish they would revive this game but at this point I think its a lost cause.
As many others have written alreasy, it seams like the developers have abandome the game. Wich is sad beacuse it has great potential with more upgrades.
The game randomly crashes, lags and has severe memory leaks, it's a shame because in this state it is currently verging on unplayable. Its a shame what frozen district are doing to game :/
The Tenants is an intriguing blend of simulation, management, and casual gameplay that puts players in the role of a landlord responsible for managing a rental property. Developed by Ancient Games, it offers a surprisingly detailed and engaging experience that goes beyond simple property maintenance, combining elements of negotiation, customization, and strategic resource management. For anyone interested in simulation games with a unique twist, The Tenants presents an immersive look at the challenges and rewards of running a rental business, wrapped in a laid-back yet thoughtfully designed package. At its core, the gameplay revolves around acquiring, renovating, and renting out apartments to a diverse cast of tenants. Players start with a modest property and limited funds, then must balance the financial demands of repairs and upgrades with the need to attract reliable tenants who will pay rent on time. This balancing act requires careful budgeting and prioritization—should you invest in new appliances to boost rent prices, or focus on fixing structural issues to prevent tenant complaints? The game does an excellent job of simulating the economic and logistical pressures of property management without becoming overwhelming or tedious. What makes The Tenants stand out is its emphasis on the social and personal side of landlordship. Each tenant has their own personality traits, preferences, and behaviors that influence how they interact with the player and the property. Negotiating lease terms, handling requests, and addressing conflicts become meaningful challenges that require patience and strategy. This human element adds depth to the game, turning what could be a dry management sim into a series of engaging interactions that affect your success. The game also allows players to personalize apartments with furniture and decorations, making the experience feel more creative and hands-on. The renovation mechanics are detailed and satisfying. Players can choose from a wide array of tools and materials to fix and upgrade apartments, from patching walls to installing new flooring or modern appliances. The hands-on nature of these tasks adds an active layer of gameplay that breaks up the management routines and provides a sense of accomplishment. The progression system encourages continuous improvement of your properties, unlocking better tenants and higher rents as you build your reputation. Visually, The Tenants employs a clean, approachable art style that strikes a balance between realism and simplicity. The apartments and surrounding buildings are well-detailed, and the user interface is designed to be intuitive, though some menus can occasionally feel cluttered during more complex management phases. The sound design supports the cozy atmosphere with ambient noises and subtle music that create an immersive environment without distraction. While The Tenants shines in many areas, it does have its flaws. Early game pacing can be slow, with some players potentially finding the initial financial constraints and renovation tasks repetitive before the gameplay truly opens up. Additionally, certain AI behaviors from tenants can sometimes feel unpredictable or frustrating, requiring players to adapt their strategies frequently. However, these issues do little to detract from the overall charm and depth of the simulation. In conclusion, The Tenants offers a surprisingly rich and enjoyable property management experience that combines economic strategy with personal interaction and creative renovation. Its unique focus on the tenant-landlord relationship adds personality and nuance, setting it apart from more generic sims. For players who enjoy thoughtful management games with a human touch and hands-on gameplay elements, The Tenants provides a rewarding and immersive way to test their organizational and negotiation skills in the world of real estate. Rating: 7/10

I loved this game when I first started playing it, and thought I would log many many hours into it. But after almost 40 hours, it's become simply unplayable. It takes a little longer every time I boot up the game, to actually get INTO the game. I have to wait for almost 10 minutes on a loading screen now to even start playing. Most of the pet missions are bugged, where objects or actions won't register as done. Simply trying to check in on a tenant causes the game to lag tremendously. I've barely gotten any new decor since starting, so it's pretty much decorating different places with the same decor. My lease agreements also bug out, to where tenants live at the properties even after the lease has been ended, for free. I had such high hopes for this game, and loooove the idea, but it's genuinely unplayable. If they fix the bugs, crashes, and add a little more content for base game, I could easily log over 100 hours. Please listen to your supporters.
Boring, buggy mess that can't even call itself less greedy than EA. It's abandonned (don't let the console port fool you... there's been no work done on it since 2023.) You find yourself repeating the same tasks and missions over and over again, if you can even complete one despite how buggy everything is. the UI is full of glitches, the sound effects are all over the place, the ambience is barely among us... Skip this one, even if you like remodelling sims. This isn't a fun one.
