Challenging puzzles, some more than others and a pretty good story. Runs smoothly with the occasional framedrop.

Melville better be in the third one I'm honestly blown away by this game. I remember the original Talos Principle being an extremely sober yet fun puzzle game with some interesting philosophical themes, but this game is where Croteam really swung for the fences. In every sense of the word, it's a step forward for the series. The environments are grander and more beautiful, the narrative is at the forefront, and the philosophical elements are front and center. The puzzle design is as sharp as ever, with deceptively challenging solutions cloaked in minimalistic setups. The slew of mechanics introduced is nothing we haven't seen before, but the devs play with so many simultaneously, whereas lesser titles would choose a single mechanic and base the whole game around it. It's confident and straightforward, putting the sheer cleverness of the puzzles at the forefront. Visually, the game is jaw-dropping often. General aesthetics of the first game are present, but the areas are far more dense with monolithic structures and beautiful lighting. However, it's the philosophy that truly deserves commendation here. Philosophical discussions are a dime a dozen in modern art, but Talos Principle II is truly impressive not only in how deep its discussions go, but also in how novel they are. The stereotypical ideas of "Can robots love/feel?" and "What is existence?" are completely ignored. Instead, Croteam took the opportunity to examine the trajectory of the human race and ask where things went wrong. The way they position things is truly refreshing, and they don't treat either side of the discussion as wrong or stupid. I think they put their thumb on the scales a bit in terms of which side they favour, but it never feels like they've created a strawman argument. My key hangup for this game is the length, honestly. I realize that for some people, longer = better, but I found myself tiring in the final third. The game has 12 zones, each with 11 major puzzles, a city dedicated solely to NPC interactions, and a bunch of other puzzles. It just becomes fatiguing as it goes on, and while I was intending to play the DLC for a good chunk of the game, I decided against it in the final 6 hours when I realized I was more slogging through the finale than I was avidly completing it. The game doesn't get worse (though crashing started to occur), but it doesn't shake things up enough between acts to alter the overall feeling of each area. Again, it's a stunning title with massive scope that it actually realizes. I had an absolute blast with the puzzles and never really got stuck at any (aside from one puzzle in the very late game). It's a testament to Croteam's talents that I was actually invested in the philosophical discussions and loved the puzzle-solving. But there is such a thing as gilding the lily, and this is a game that indulges a bit too much in its final leg. Still, it's a pretty significant high point for modern puzzle games. I'd score it 9/10.

Ogromna, ze świetnymi zagadkami, ciekawą historią i wartościowymi filozoficznymi rozważaniami. Moim zdaniem lepszy poziom trudności niż w części pierwszej, bo z każdym kolejnym biomem rozkręca się na nowo, a nie stopniowo rośnie, przez co pod koniec nie ma się poczucia frustracji z powodu długiego zatrzymywania się na każdej zagadce. W ogóle ludzie, którzy wymyślali te zagadki mają jakiś galaxy brain. Arcydzieło gier logicznych.
