About
WELCOME TO THE VEXINGTON HOTEL
It's graduation night in Lucid Falls, and eight teenagers have wandered from the party only to discover THE SPIRIT LIFT, a magical elevator that transports them through 13 floors of monsters and mayhem!
This ever-changing 3D hotel changes depending on the boss which awaits them in the penthouse. Gather cards, gold, and gear while navigating the eerie corridors on the way to the top. Beware of unpredictable events and creepy enemies lurking in the shadows!
EACH TEAM CHANGES STRATEGY AND STORY
Familiar deck-building gameplay with a survival horror twist! Use your equipment deck to fight the creatures prowling the hotel. Upgrade cards as you gain experience, balancing your deck by blending four deck focuses any way you prefer. Decades of history have filled the halls with items from many eras, including plenty of '90s nostalgia. Even that one squiggly doodle cup everyone used to have.
Your trio of teenagers determines your start deck and so much more. Watch their relationships unfold as they answer riddles, discover their own backstories and use their individual strengths to bypass risky dilemmas.
BE KIND, REWIND, AND SEEK THE TRUTH LOST BEHIND
Death is encouraged in this deranged experiment! Unlock new characters, bosses, and events by playing multiple times and exploring different strategies. Learn how to collect more cards and gear by perusing the Library.
Win or lose, earn Spirit points to spend on customizing your next trip through the hotel. Discover hidden evidence, unexpected secrets and the lift's true purpose.

Decent game, but in the spirit of Lovecraft gets increasingly challenging before becoming insane, so you'll progress further once you've worked out how to create a decent build and had a bit of luck on the pulls. Very hard but mostly fair, so far it's been a good game for a few idle run throughs on the sofa but I can see from the various secrets I've started to uncover that there's more depth to this ready to be revealed. Perfect Steam Deck compatibility for me, although I use trackpad mouse by default so ymmv.
A really polished roguelite deckbuilder with a unique premise and some fresh twists. It doesn't get bogged down in minutiae to maintain an engaging level of complexity, allowing battles to be both quick and strategic. And the music is excellent, getting you right in the mood for some ghost-bustin'. A minor complaint is that there isn't a huge level of enemy variety, with the game relying on palette swaps to pad out its roster of foes. Other than that, it's solid, and a great thematic contrast to other games in the genre.
Pros: Deep deck building that has room for plenty of strats to shine, from card spam to Turtling I love the characters and their little interactions with each other. Forming teams with unique names is nice touch. the aesthetic is very appealing with the haunted hotel setting in full swing here. Lots of unlockables to keep runs fresh with new strats to pursue Cons: The overall presentation of a run gets old kinda fast The grind is gonna take you a while to get unlocks Floors are over too quickly when they could be filled with more rooms of chance and random battles. This would give players a risk/reward system of either choosing to take the lift now and avoid further battles or try to complete more rooms and fights for loot. At the moment, you might as well clear every floor before taking the lift. No voice acting + No impactful effects to cards leave repeated runs feeling like you are just playing the same game multiple times without much variety despite using a completely new way to play. (this may be a personal thing) I hated the elevator rides; each floor requires an unskippable elevator ride to the next where you get a short blurb from your party. This is a slow and calming moment that you will have to sit through multiple times across multiple runs full of strategizing, high risk fights, monsters, and difficult choices that all comes to a sudden halt when you get in. It gives me so much whiplash. Lastly, the monsters in general need more variety
Not the perfect card battler (IMO StS 1&2 are more rounded overall than SL), but quite enjoyable. The starting decks and "gear" of most characters are quite powerful, there is enough variety in enemy abilities and combinations of enemy groups to make battles tactically interesting, and progression with new cards, characters, events and enemies discovered keeps one motivated (at least as long as there's more to be discovered). There are a few annoyances, but no major faults that would make the game unplayable - that's why it gets a thumbs up from me any why I will certainly return to it frequently.
It's okay. Would be better if it had controller support. Graphics are a bit meh. I got this in a bundle for $1-2 so it's fine.
oogh i love a roguelike deckbuilder. and i love horror. and i love lore. and i love maps. she's got it all
Some of the animations are a drag, but otherwise it seems ok. I haven't played enough to offer a lot of insight into replayability and am not likely to, because of the repetitive long and unskippable animations. If you also don't like that kind of thing, probably avoid it, but in general it's roughly what you'd expect from the store page info. I got it in a bundle. 6/10.
if youre looking for yet another slay the spire clone this is a decent one. you don't add very many cards through a run which feels like a serious downgrade in terms of actually making a deck your own though. still its well made and fun enough.
Slay the Spire w 3D?
