When Hito gets lost in the woods one dark night, two mischievous wisps spirit him away to the Labyrinth, a prison for lost souls from which no one has ever escaped. Now he must wander the Labyrinth's blocky corridors and fight countless monsters in order to confront his captors and find his way home.
Maneuver precisely with responsive controls to get the drop on your enemies. Whether you're facing hectic enemy groups or fearsome bosses with bullet hell elements, you'll have to master movement and combat to survive.
Some of the Labyrinth's walls are fake and hold secrets. Break blocks with wind blade to find power-ups and coins, which grant stat boosts, elemental shields, and more.
Starting with the rapid-firing wind blade, you'll soon find other elemental spells with unique properties and attack patterns. Strategize and hit your foes' weaknesses to turn the odds in your favor.
Explore two big, cohesive maps full of abstract, colorful areas. Track your progress with the map system, and use warp points to easily revisit places you've been.

Hitodama has a special place in my heart. I played the game alot already, and it now finally being on Steam will get me on some achievement grinds. I raced the game against a friend who also played the game before yesterday and won by 30 seconds, get hecked, Cavin. Gameplaywise, think Zelda but magic instead of swords, with environmental hints to secret powerups that help you beat the game with various buffs. The OST reminded me of games like La-Mulana sometimes with no tracks particularly standing out, but all of them pleasant to listen to. We beat the game in around 4 hours, but that was with previous knowledge of the game, so expect longer playtimes yourself. Plus there are some things to do after beating the game as well.
A cute indie game with a Metroidvania-like structure. It's got fun music and an intriguing story that takes some unexpected turns. I've just finished the main story - but there are at least three other routes still to go. Can't wait to tackle those after some more of my 50+ game backlog. Worth the $3-4!
a really great game, especially for the low price the core gameplay is really fun, all the secrets felt fair and were really fun to find, all the powerups felt usefull and enjoyable and i always looked forward to what ill unlock at the end of each run the music was really good and i was humming it to myself while playing, and while the story wasnt the greatest it kept me wanting to see the next thing, and is better and more interesting than most of the stories that these kind of gameplay focused games have its also a great game for speedrunning or challenge runs, and the randomizer was such a good edition to the game the only problem i had was that it sometimes was hard to remember how to arrive to places that ive been to on the map since stairs to other areas dont show on the map, but that really isnt much of a bother and didnt detract much from my enjoyment of the game i really recommend this game, its really fun and definitly worth the money, and i hope more people find it since its a shame to see such a great game be so unknown
A dungeon crawling game made by someone who was clearly familiar with Zelda 1. At times the level design can feel a little archaic, with a lot of enemies packed into a fairly cramped room, but it's not really any worse than anything Zelda 1 did with its dungeons. If you're okay with treating health as a resource and enjoy a little nostalgia, The Spectral Web: Hitodama can be a fun experience for a few hours, with the second quest and randomizer modes adding some additional longevity if you wish there was more. There is quite a bit of attacking walls though. The secrets are generally well-indicated, especially when you get the abilities that let you sense which rooms have secrets, but especially early on in the first quest there are some rooms where just navigating through them at all can feel a bit silly. It gets better. Also, when you die, you at least get restored to full health back at the beginning of the current biome, so that's cool. The areas are all small enough that it's not really frustrating. I'm not sure if the game gets meaner about that above Normal difficulty, but in my experience it really let the game get away with design that would feel much worse in a different game.
