best sims game ever. period
The game ran fine on Linux, but there seem to be plenty of bugs which break the game for me. In only 6h of play I had my dog get stuck in the bathtub until animal control took him away, because it was unable to eat or sleep, and I had my kid taken by a social worker after the first day of school for god knows what reason - Their needs were met and I even got a notice they were doing well in school. It's frustrating and I see no reason to continue that save file.

It's the Sims 2, with all of it's dlcs apart from the IKEA one and some spare stuff packs. It's peak as it always has been, they haven't bugfixed anything and it's insanely overpriced for how old and abandoned by EA it is. But it's the same old game - The Sims 2. Always has and always be amazing. Also, Apart from widescreen issues, I actually haven't encountered any bugs yet, strangely.
Sure, it tends to crash and act weird sometimes- but it's been crashing and acting weird since 2004. It works well enough for me. The best Sims game there ever will be. Edit: after 30 hours of gameplay it actually HAS NOT CRASHED... so... maybe my luck does change.
Right now I can get Legacy working but not Ultimate, most times the reverse is true, but it's easy enough to switch saves between games. I do wish Ikea and H&M would be patched in as I find H&M difficult to find if anyone knows how please I'd love to add that back in.
The game is a buggy mess in general. From my experience the only bugs I experiences were a CleanBot desync glitch and the mailbox not letting me collect my unpaid bills, but other than that I didn't crash almost at all in my current 75 hours into the game. Just know that the files are extremely delicate and fragile with the slightest adjustments and modifications corrupting the entire game which you can only fix by reinstalling the game. Happened to me when I bought this the first time when the game just would not load past the starting screen. Absolute peak game if you manage to get the game running.
I love this game so much but it crashes a lot so make sure it save often!
