Warning: Asset Flip! Dangerous Lands 2 - Evil Ascension is a Digital Homicide style asset flip, or what Valve calls a "Fake Game". The "developer" paid for/pirated a few Unity asset store packs, dumped them all in a blender, and submitted it to Valve as if they're real game developers.
Two notable criteria for what makes an asset flip instead of legitimate use of stock assets are whether those assets comprise the majority of the game, and whether the "developer" properly credited the people who created most of the assets in the game. This game fails both of those tests. The "developers" here didn't credit any of the artists and real, actual game developers who created the assets here, so this is plagiarism, as well as cash grab shovelware. In this case, the asset flipper, Fabio Cunha (he's using a shell account here to try hide his identity) took a bunch of Synty assets and dropped them on a very lame third person fantasy brawler template, released it into Early Access in an incomplete state (although with asset flips it's hard to tell what "complete" even means) and then ran for the hills. It has no value or merit as a real game. Fabio Cunha (aka Sabrina Aridi) has shown a repeat pattern of unethically dumping other people's work onto Steam as a cheap, nasty cash grab, through this account or through closely linked/alt accounts. Here's some examples so you can see for yourself:

"Robot Warriors" = AKG: Action Game Kit developed by Mijikai Games
"Square Head Zombies 2 - FPS Game" = Simple Shop Interiors - Cartoon assets developed by Synty Studios
"Thugs Law" = Polygon Battle Royale developed by Synty Studios
"Hidden Object - Sweet Home" = Hidden Objects game - Starter Kit developed by Allebi Games
This asset flip was abandoned a month or so prior to Early Access launch and hasn't been updated in 4 years. It blew past the developers commitment to complete the game without any notification or admission of failure from the developer. The game will never be completed. Taking this shovelware seriously as if it was a genuine attempt to make a game, it doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. The game assets are fairly mediocre/low quality which fits with the idea they weren't developed by the game creator... they look like they're "just reasonable enough" to go on sale as part of an asset pack. The issue of asset flipping aside, ultimately the quality of these assets is low and low quality always makes for a less than optimal gaming experience. The game features lazy low-polygon "retro" assets, making this look like a barely functional 3D game from the mid 2000s. It's unclear why the developers weren't able to arrange high quality, high polygon count contemporary assets for the game, and also irrelevant... what matters is that this looks bad as a result of their decisions, a compromise PC gamers shouldn't have to put up with. The controls and game handling are notably very clunky and unsmooth here. It's janky and unsatisfying to play... and any experienced gamer will tell you, the handling, responsiveness and general gameplay feel of the control scheme must be well polished for this kind of game to succeed. Unfortunately, this is something the developer seems to have phoned in, with little to no apparent gameplay testing. They dropped the ball on this one. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, left handed gamers or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. Dangerous Lands 2 - Evil Ascension didn't appeal much to the people who own a copy of the game, either. It has achievements, and they show us a very clear picture that the game didn't really capture any interest from gamers. The most commonly and easily attained achievement is for killing anything, trivial to get, but less than 34 percent of players bothered to get that far before uninstalling the game. Hardly a success story, gamers just weren't all that interested in the game. The poor quality of this game is also reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 2 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 100,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. Unethically, the developer sold keys to this abandoned Early Access game into cheap, nasty game bundles, where they knew it would be advertised and sold as a complete PC game. This seems to have been done in an attempt to mislead gamers into buying a knowingly faulty, defective and incomplete product. When a developer does this for a game they have zero practical intention of completing, this is essentially a scam, an intention to get paid for a broken/unfinished product. Often this is done as an exit strategy, as the developer takes the money and runs. No refunds have been given, the developer kept all the money they took from gamers. This kind of asset flipping isn't harmless. It makes it harder for gamers to find genuinely made games from ethical developers. It makes it harder for genuine indie developers, who put hard work into trying to make real games, to find an audience for their products. It gives indie developers a bad name. So, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 100,000+ games on Steam? Dangerous Lands 2 - Evil Ascension is relatively cheap at $2 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, and the questionable ethical nature of the developer and/or their associates (as outlined above), this is impossible to recommend. Remember that if you buy a game from an unethical developer, you're putting your money at risk.
Profile Features Limited! Valve have marked this game as "Profile Features Limited" at the time of this review. This is usually caused by poor sales figures and low community acceptance for the game (to date). Until this status changes, this game will not give you +1 to your Game Collector badge count, appear in profile achievements or any other Steam meta-accomplishments, nor can it be displayed in some profile showcases. If these factors are important to you, it may be worth holding off before buying this game.
Definitely wasn't ready for any sort of launch. I got out of the first area and it switched my character for some reason and made the enemies around me nearly invincible (I was only doing 1 damage no matter what I threw at them and they must of had 2000 hp) and took out half my health in a single swing. Also there is not volume control which is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ since the in game sounds are straight nails on a chalk board.
The first stage works fine, but the moment you enter the next area, the entire game breaks down and can't pull itself together again. Picking a different character is pointless because it always switches to a default warrior when you switch a map, you get dropped to lv. 1, enemies become semi-invincible because you only deal 1 damage, go too fast and you fall through the floor, disappearing graphics, non-working save system, and so on. The game is dead.
40 minutes to accomplish the game fully is fine since it's a small game. But the game is barely playable. If someone would confirm that this is a school project, it would all make sense. If it was publicly published to make money out of it, oh hell nah, its not good. Don't recommend.
Broken game and a borderline scam, should be at least free lol
i rly likd it
you tell me
