The Rocky Horror Show Video Game

Do you remember those awful, hard, Nintendo games based on popular licenses with levels and mechanics that were only vaguely related to the property they were supposed to be adapting? This is one of these. <3 <3 <3 Short, fun, frustrating - I was transported back to my childhood, with the difference that the unlimited lives kept me from throwing my controller at my monitor, so thanks for that because now I'm An Adult and monitors are expensive.

As a Rocky Horror Show fan I had to play this. I was not disappointed at all. The pixel 2D style is perfect considering the age of the stage show and movie, The platforming gameplay really took me back to growing up playing similar titles on my Atari 800xl computer. Like many of those titles back then this game gave me a few challenges along the way. Definitely had that frustratingly fun feel to it at times. Fans of the stage show and movie will absolutely love the attention to detail this game gives to the source material, with minor changes to suit the gameplay here and there as expected. The retro style of graphics and music from the show are fantastically done. I definitely plan to play through this again and record myself doing so for Youtube/Twitch. My only gripe, if i had to search deep for one, was that I'd have personally liked to have seen an intro part that included the movies opening church scenes and the engagement of Brad and Janet. As I say though, thats a minor gripe of an otherwise awesome game. Highly recommend it!

Pretty great game with some seriously missed opportunities. I'd love to see each of the playable characters with a different ability, Super Mario Bros 2 style, eg. Janet moves quicker or can jump higher, Dr. Scott can land on spikes etc. Soundtrack is great, featuring very nice 8bit renditions of the original soundtrack (small negative point for now covering "I'm going home" which is my favorite). I also like the easthetic, I could see a game of this ilk coming out in 80s-90s to promote the movie for whichever anniversary. Overall, if you are a fan of the movie and like some hard 2D platformers, I recommend you pick up this game

Brilliant game for fans - absolutely loved it, takes just over an hour to complete so very short but well worth the price if your a huge fan!

Short and sweet retro platformer for fans of Rocky Horror (only). An easy recommend on sale. Pros + the IP - faithful to the show + the music; some lovely conversions of the source material + the pixel art is fab, particularly the ghosts n goblins heart system for Brad + lots of checkpoints + plays great on Deck Cons - some sections, while not impossible (even I completed this game), are utter gits to get past. You have infinite lives and you'll need them! - Steam Achievements don't work (at time of writing) What I would like to see on future updates 1. a menu to replay sequences (if only to listen to the soundtrack) 2. a heart system for Janet/Scotty similar to Brad's (perhaps linked in with adjustable difficulty levels) 3. adjustments (extra checkpoints, fewer brains, more space to avoid falling objects) to some of the more trickier platforming sections 4. (spoiler) fight as FNF for the final boss battle (like the Eddie fight, but avoid the laser) 5. Superheroes

never thought my cause of death would be dr. frank n furter whipping me too hard but here we are. no, but seriously. it's a fun little game which turned out to be a lot more challenging than i expected but that's most likely due to my lack of experience with platformers. the 8-bit soundtrack is perfect and i love how true the game was to the source material. such a beautiful tribute to one of my all time favorite musicals <3

Witty platformer that doesn't overstay it's welcome. You can play the game with the keyboard, but the menu requires a mouse. It's much easier to play on a controller. Overall, The Rocky Horror Show Video Game is quite good. The Super Mario Bros. 2 inspired gameplay and somewhat purposeful jank controls fit the 8-bit aesthetic as do the excellent chiptune renditions of everyone's Rocky Horror numbers from the show. For this price, it's hard to complain about the length. The Halloween update, among other things, added achievements (some obvious, some obscure, all cute) and enhanced the cutscenes with some nice close-ups.
