Third room still to go but definetly worth the money. One small con is that items may be lost for good some times. Had to restart the first room once because of that.
1/10 What ridiculous nonsense and a complete waste of money. The only thing it appears you can do in this game is assemble a robot. That's it. The robot doesn't move when you've assembled it. There's a gun, but nothing to shoot. Loads of rubbish hanging around but you can't do anything with it. There is a list of "levels" but no way to play them. The robot will take you 5 minutes to assemble and the rest of the time you will spend throwing stuff around in frustration at not being able to play any further. Really really avoid this tripe. If there is anything better you can do with this "game", nobody told me how.
For full review https://youtu.be/VZQDFWOIG0Q The Puzzle Room is a VR escape room experience created by the indie game developer Bellcat where you are pitted against a series of 3 rooms that contain numerous well thought out puzzles, clues and hidden items that are used in order to unlock the door that stands between confinement and your freedom. In The Puzzle Room, you start off on a laboratory platform that acts as both a 3d main menu and a virtual playground where you can perform a variety of activities ranging from shooting objects with a revolver while trying on masks, wigs and other accessories to building a classic robot. The laboratory also contains a control panel that gives you access to the 3 available rooms – a small attic storage room, a teenagers bedroom and a kitchen. Once a room is picked a VR helmet will be available that when placed on your head will transport you to the chosen location through a pretty cool looking wormhole. Each room is setup in a believable fashion, each littered with objects that you can manipulate, pickup, carry around and toss with the use of touch controllers. Some of the items are clues, hints, and pieces of the puzzle to be solved; while other items are just there to distract you – allowing you to waste precious time playing around. There are records to play, dishes to break, canvases to paint and even a mini-game where you use a foam dart gun to shoot baddies. Rooms can be unlocked by either figuring out the proper combination to the lock or by solving puzzles that result in finding the keycard for the door. Each room takes approximately 30-45 minutes to solve on the first try giving a potential 3 hours of gameplay. I personally rate the difficulty of the puzzles a 4 out of10 - and though they are not overly complicated I found them to be challenging enough to be fun for even the seasoned escape room enthusiast. Locomotion in the puzzle room is done by room scale and by teleporting around the environment via the use of the touchpad on the Vive. The teleport function works quite well as does the reliability of holding and manipulating objects which also includes some pretty decent haptic feedback which adds to the immersion factor. Aside from the occasional physics quirk and being able to put my head through select walls in order to look inside adjacent rooms - the game is pretty well polished and I’ve had no issue playing through the entirety of the game as it’s intended. The Puzzle Rooms has simplistic style graphics that have an aesthetically appealing cartoony feel to them. The color balance is just the right mix, though some of the shadows and lighting can appear to be slightly intense at times, there is nothing that causes any discomfort or breaks immersion. The sound is quite believable and well done for a small budget indie title. While I found the game quite enjoyable - the combination of having only about a 1h 30min to 3hrs worth of gameplay along with no real replayability makes this price a bit hard to swallow. On the upside, the dev at Bellcat has announced that a 4th room will be added for Free being the second room added since it's release. This alone can make quite a difference in the value of the title. With all that said, I do recommend The Puzzle Room if you’re looking for a decent escape room experience as I found it to be one of the best available in VR to date. While I believe the price point is a bit on the high side the developers have been quite consistent in updating the title with fixes and features including teleport option for those who have inadequate play-spaces, Oculus support and added rooms with more content coming which does make the price reasonable.
This game seems unpolished. Interacting with objects feels bad.
+Fun puzzles +Easy for new-escapees +Nicely animated -Price for content -Not nearly enough rooms - Buggy controls at times 2/5 Lack of content vs. how much they charge makes me unable to give this a recommend to this fairly decent escape room title. Application is too slow. When i start up The Puzzle Room it gives me a warning that the Application is too slow and. It Works just fine on my friends geoforce 780 But not om my geforce 1070. Please explain.
Warning: Motion Sickness I have bobbed all over in Echo Arena and Elite, as well as first-person offerings like Gorn and Blade & Sorcery, and none of them are in the same league with how rapidly this game made me queasy. Smooth movement, including up and down, with no alternative options. Everything is out of scale, so I'm unable to play it as a room-scale and just move around.
Do not buy, abandoned by developer with broken achievements. Games abandoned by developers usually get refunded by users. You didn't finish the game so why should we even try to?
