The Perfect Model is an adventure RenPy visual novel.
[h1]Story[/h1]
Mediascape has developed a new instant camera model. As part of the product launch they are having an instant photo contest, with a top prize of $10,000. Unfortunately, you don't have an instant camera, and they want almost $400 for theirs. You borrow a camera from your friend Fred.
[h1]Gameplay[/h1]
After a brief introduction you are able to name your character, Carl by default.
You are then given an Insta-snap 3000 camera, which leads you to the camera mini game. There is a pointer moving in an arc and you have to press the space bar when the pointer is in the green section. You can't bolo the mini game, if you press the space bar outside of the green section you get a try again message. Almost makes me wonder why it is in the game.
There are also free roam portions. The first one would be nice if it had an objective. I walked the whole house. I didn't see anything I could do and didn't run into any of the other characters. I couldn't go to bed because it wasn't time yet. I had to advance time to be able to sleep.
Next is the work mini game, put products in a box, seal the box, and send for delivery. Do this five times and earn $50. Again, like the camera mini game it doesn’t add anything to the game. A little help would be nice as there is no exit from the warehouse. I did another shift and couldn't do more. I had to exit to the map, in order to go home. Either a hint to use the map, or an exit to the map would have been nice.
The game opens windowed every time and you need to go into the options to have it open full screen.
The English is okay, there are frequent incorrect word choices, "You so lucky!" instead of "You're so lucky!" or "You are so lucky!"
The current story is still in the relationship building phase, so most of the content is dream sequences or acts that you pay for.
[h1]The Gallery[/h1]
The Gallery is accessed from inside the game. Currently there are two Galleries, an album and a gallery. The album are the pictures you take with the instant camera, the gallery is a work in progress, so you'll have to use save game slots to save your favorite scenes.
[h1]Final Verdict[/h1]
A promising start, but there is a lot of room for improvement. There is about an hour to hour and a half of play time currently, about 20 decisions to make.
