Reviews
One must beware of games without reviews, especially games that have been out for almost a year. The Steam store only shows reviews from customers who purchased the game directly through Steam. As such, I believe no one has bought this game from the store. I write this review in good faith, but fear it may never be seen by potential buyers. This may potentially be the worst game I have ever played, and yet I felt compelled to complete the story mode. In fact I also played a substantial amount of the survival mode (horde mode) to unlock all remaining achievements. Before I go any further, it should be noted that this is a one man production, and that it is built with the Unity engine which is rarely impressive when utilised by a single developer. The game is billed as a survival horror. It has elements of the genre but almost every aspect of the game, from menus to mechanics is broken in some way. The story is pieced together from poorly written documents, and frequently there is no time to read these as some shambling monstrosity is looming down upon you. The game does not pause even when you are accessing your item menu or even the options menu. I know some survival horror games use this technique to ensure the player never feels comfortable, but here it feels like a bug. The graphics range from reasonable to terrible. The textures are decent, but the models are clearly purchased or possibly free assets that lack a cohesive visual style. There is a ubiquitous instant death monster which I will admit scared the wits out of me on the first encounter, given that it comes complete with jump scare sound effects and a screen rending effect which disorients and confuses. By the time I had completed the game, this scarlet woman was almost laughable; her AI frequently breaking leaving her locked in a scuttling animation circling around me but never interacting with me. The AI is one of the worst elements. The enemies bumble about with very little purpose, and shooting one in the head will not alert another standing right beside it. The shooting mechanics are inconsistent. Sometimes a single shot will kill an enemy, other times I emptied a magazine into the same type of enemy to no effect. There are game breaking bugs. The worst I encountered was when I picked up a puzzle item, but my inventory was already full and so the item simply vanished and left me unable to complete that particular level. The game opens with a "warning" about the potential detrimental health effects the player may experience and advises "descretion" (sic). There is some mention of Victor Tandy who apparently linked "infrasound" (very low frequency sound waves inaudible to the human ear, but possibly perceptible in other ways) to ghost sightings. The game claims to use infrasound to unsettle the player and recommends using headphones while playing. I will say that the sound design was quite good, and definitely did unsettle. Whether or not I was being affected by the "sound of fear" is debatable. It is undoubtedly difficult to create a game, especially as a sole developer. Anyone who attempts to create something must be commended for their efforts, but it is clear there were no play testers or QA to help weed out bugs and inconsistencies. The story is hard to piece together and is by no means original. The graphics are mediocre at best and the same assets are reused often to incongruous effect. Gameplay is plagued with broken mechanics and most of my deaths were caused by poorly implemented systems. The survival mode is actually reasonably playable, but it is generic and after one or two attempts will likely fail to retain interest. I cannot recommend this game at the crazy price of £15.49. I purchased this in a Groupees bundle and so it probably cost me around £2.50. I would say that is still too high a price for this game. If this was on sale at 90% off I could recommend a purchase, but there are so many better survival horror games on the market that really there is never a need to play this. I wish the developer the best for future endeavours, but I imagine this will be the sole title from Loveridge Designs.
After 2 years from the previous bad review of this game I decided to check it out to see if it had gotten any better since the release. Once I got though the cheap scream sound effects from the main menu and started the game, I enjoyed the beginning. The first level had some good fog and ambiance to get me invested for a hopefully fun and creepy game. Unfortunately, the game turned out to not be scary. I played the game to the very end and clocked 4 hours total. It is not the worst I have ever played as was previously reported by another gamer (I've played games a whole lot worse). I would also like to say that it is also easy to read documents and you are never mobbed by a group of zombies. Once you kill anything in the area they don't come back and it's easy to read whatever you want to. I do agree that there are some bugs that need to be fixed such as the inventory bug which I believe caused me to lose a key I tried to pick up because my inventory was already filled up. That was the only bug in the game that was a real show stopper. The best way to get past the inventory issue was to stack your ammo. You could plug as much ammo at once into your gun as you could find so that way it never filled up inventory slots. If you know that going in you are prepared for it. Pressing ESC to bring up the menu also does not pause the game as was reported earlier. The other odd thing in the game is that they included Girl Scout kids in it that did not fit the narrative at all which was weird and they can take more shots than usual because they are inconsistent in hit points which is likely another bug. The thing that hurts the game most is its story that is told by notes you find throughout the game. I get what they were going with which was an almost F.E.A.R. type entity called Harmony but it was told poorly and made the game confusing up to the very end. I did like that they rewarded players for exploring every area. There were many areas that included an extra room to find that gave you more backstory to try to understand what was going on. They also reward you with a secret gun to find near the beginning that is one of the best in the entire game making it easier going forward. I do not expect the developer, Josh Loveridge, to come back to fix these issues unfortunately. When I clicked on the Loveridge Designs logo on the game's menu it took me to Loveridge Digital which is a successful media and marketing agency. I think this game was left in the dust and will not see any more improvements which is unfortunate because it does need polish and doesn't look in good light compared to the company and their current successes. Only about 7% of the people who bought it since 2018 have finished the game according to Steam achievements.
_ как я за багами ходил The One We Found ► секреты психбольницы ► прохождение на русском https://youtu.be/8rOXif_WQU0
