Oh what an interesting read! Just completed my first play through and it was an emotional ride mixed with alot of thinking and soul searching. It said I got ending number three, so there are at least 2 others to go for and as there are not alot of choices to make as I played I think getting to them shouldnt be that hard. Speaking of choices it seems that there are always three answers to choose from, one each on the extreme end of reaction to whats happening, and one somewhere, somewhat in the middle. I went with the ones that were supportive / accepting of what was going on, and found myself at an ending that reflected that. Honestly I cant say much about it at all other than it was fitting to my choices, even if it was also somewhat surprising (not the direction I thought this story was going in when I first started reading, but I still got my happily ever after, at a price.) All in all i did find myself a little disappointed it was over too soon! But thats the way of these things. If their good you dont want them to end. I know there are other endings to get, but Ill be honest Im afraid to go after them, as I can see some potentially very bad ends being possible, and I wouldnt want to ruin my fondness for the characters by allowing or having horrible things happen to them. Last bit to note: the English translation is passable, but not perfect. While there was never a moment I wasnt able to tell what was being communicated, there were several places where the grammar just fell apart and also times where there were too many words to fit inside the box, requiring me to use the mouse to roll back the conversation log, read the bit that was missing, then close out the log to get back into the story. Be prepared to reread a sentence here and there and reword it in your own head in a way thats more comfortable.
At first I didn't want to buy this game because all the reviews saying the story being too short. But the art is just so good so I eventually decided to try it out. In short, yes the story is short, BUT THE STORY TOTALLY WORTH IT. The story makes you think and feel. I was really amazed by some of the deep conversations. I play quite a lot of visual novel games and what matters the most to me is always the story. So if you are just like me, love great stories, this is the right game for you. Looks like it is a manga based games, I will definitely see the manga... Another thing I really like is the Chinese dub, I did't expect it to be that good:) The only flaw is the play time, way too short compare with the same genre (I just finished two endings). Most of the negative reviews are to do with play time. If only the price can be a bit lower...
Just for you all to know, this VN involves the story between a little brother who has an affection for his elder brother. So yes, this is that kind of story. But once you've put aside that fact and appreciate it as purely an art form, this game contains a lot of commentaries about society, mourning, and life values. Many questions were asked in this game that makes you reflect on your own standing in life. The music is really calm and therapeutic, almost feels like a Chinese drama feel (I guess it makes sense since it's a Taiwanese company who made it). The artwork is simple, yet pleasing. There are some nudity, however they're all PG13 (i.e. no genitals) and no NSFW scenes inside. This is a pure drama VN. A lot of translations in this game are kinda off. For example, the English translation of the names of all the characters are completely different from the way they are pronounced by the voice actors. Combined with several grammatical errors, it gave me a little hard time immersing myself in the story. Nevertheless, I still had a great time playing through this game, albeit the entire game is quite short and thus, quick to complete for a VN.
Pretty good story, but it is way too short, imho it's not worth the price based on the length
骨科圣经!!!
Like many others who reviewed this visual novel, the playtime for this game is pretty short. However, it doesn't do the game any injustice. The general gist of the game's story is that the game's protagonist, Sumi, is left with regret and guilt after his older bro, Haru, dies or
is hospitalized for 3 months depending on the first choice you made.
Gameplay-wise, Monster of Memory:Destiny only has around 4 points at which you can make your choices, though I'll admit that most of them don't affect much other than you missing a few dialogue lines.
To get to the first two ends, you pretty much choose the neutral sounding options until you have to choose the "Please, please don't disappear" option to choose between endings 1 and 2. I read this from a discussion post to save you the hassle.
Perhaps the thing that I enjoyed the most of this visual novel is how it tackles the topic of moving on and grief. Sumi has difficulty trying to forget the tragedy of Haru's death since he pretty much spent most of his childhood living comfortably in his older brother's shadow. In an attempt to alleviate the huge strain of Haru's death on his family, he gets some sort of robot that's supposed to imitate his older brother at the cost of forfeiting his physical possessions to the machine. Overall, I'd say that you should get this game on sale since I do think it's a bit overpriced. Keep in mind that there will be hints of incestual love, but there's not any love-making NSFW scenes besides kissing.
а мне ИИ-брат дороже собственной мамы
the 'game' itself is quite short and while the story seemed interesting at the beginning it just seemed unrealistic and tiresome after a while. the art's nice though. wish you could see more of the side characters
