About

Packing in a fully-fledged story mode with a colorful cast of musically-empowered heroes and villains, The Metronomicon sees you take control of a party of eight new masters of the “rhythmic combat arts” to wage musical warfare against a multitude of dance-mongering fiends. Control up to four concurrent heroes as they cast powerful spells, buff their teammates, and beat down their enemies with a variety of magical loot and groovin’ dance moves. The effectiveness of your team is all in the rhythm, so put on your dancing pants, light up dad’s disco ball, and prepare your body for The Metronomicon. Oh, and did I mention couch co-op? Because nothing's better than an armored dance partner.

The Metronomicon features a fantastic, fully-licensed soundtrack featuring some of the hottest electronic, synthwave, chiptune and indie artists, including an unreleased track from Shiny Toy Guns, along with tracks from YACHT, Perturbator, J-Punch, Dj CUTMAN, and many, many more. As much a soundscape as it is a soundtrack, the music behind The Metronomicon is set to be every bit as varied and exciting as the gameplay itself.

Sleek artwork and interesting concept, mixing rhythm beat and battles Good quality and variety of music included, though the voice acting included is terrible. Terrible controls, especially if using joystick or in a Deck, and the battle animations do break the flow of the rhythm beats, so the only reason to get the game would be for the battle system, which is fairly interesting and certainly unique. Overall, overpriced compared to its full fledged competition. Passable, but not memorable. 6/10
Quick Score: 3/5 Notes: A relatively unique twist on the 4k genre. However personally wasn't a huge fan of the soundtrack overall, the characters/story/dialogue is extremely bad only really enjoyed probably 25% of the OST, and the entire rpg mechanic of the game never really is all that relevant. And by that I mean even on hard difficulty, there are numerous fairly obvious builds and setups you can use that make it so you don't really need to pay attention to the main gimmick of the game at all, and at that point it just ends up playing like a relatively bland 4k game that looks more complicated than it actually is. I don't have a lot of rhythm game experience, but I was still able to clear all of hard mode + the hard arenas + all side quests in under 20 total fails/deaths. The only reason this is really a recommendation at all is because of the fairly unique experience, but it is ultimately fairly shallow and I would only recommend this if you got it on a large discount.

The Metronomicon: Slay The Dance Floor is an older game from 2016. It's a venerable 8 years old at the time of this review. It's an unabashed, lazy ripoff of Guitar Hero (Copyright Activision Blizzard, 2005). Many lazy "amateur" developers don't pay attention to their obligations under copyright law, and often steal the ideas of actual, real game developers without credit, such as the "developer" here has done. At this stage no legal action has been taken by Activision Blizzard against the "developer" here, but it's never off the table, as previous copyright law cases have shown. Putting aside the unethical intellectual bankruptcy of stealing someone else's game concept for profit, this is also breaking that unwritten law of stealing other people's game ideas... you should at least try to do better than the game you're ripping off. The Metronomicon: Slay The Dance Floor is considerably worse than Guitar Hero. Where, in Guitar Hero, you're playing a show, here, for some bizarre reason you must play the rhythm game to try fight monsters, and also the graphics are much worse than Guitar Hero and so is the soundtrack. I'm pretty sure the monster fighting theme was just to stave off Activision, because it makes no sense and, who could have guessed, resulted in a terrible game from concept through to implementation. There's an overwhelming amount of mediocre Visual Novel/E-book style cutscenes in this game. The developers failed one of the most basic, fundamental requirements of game design.. "Show, don't tell." So you'll spend a huge amount of time not playing the game, but clicking through endless lines of poorly written VN text cutscenes because the developers couldn't work out how to relate their narrative through the game mechanics, and decided instead it would be better to compete with reading a book for your time. We're here to play games, not read through hours of garbage intersituals. My gaming rig is not a Kindle. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. The game is comprised of somewhat mediocre hand drawn 2D illustrations instead of professional looking 3D game assets. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget to arrange someone who can create graphical assets properly, or lack of talent. Regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is very low, beneath what PC gamers have come to expect in this era of cutting edge photorealistic 3D graphics. At least it's not pixel "art", but if you're looking for contemporary, immersive visuals, this game is a fail. There's no option to change the resolution and no useful graphics tweaks. There's no way to ensure this is running at the native resolution of your display. There's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. Because this is designed for consoles, it carries a number of deliberate design deficiencies. Compromises were made to cater to the inferior console gaming appliances that the game was designed for. These are unfortunate compromises and limitations that PC gamers shouldn't be forced to accept, but it's evident that PC was a second thought for the console-centric developers. The game is deficient as a result of these choices, and would have been so much better without the handicaps that designing games for consoles forces upon a game. Once more, console peasants have made gaming worse for everyone. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. In an attempt to excuse the low quality of delivery here, the game makes a big point of having a nice soundtrack. If the business plan for a game is to compete with Spotify, which is free and has effectively unlimited music, all of which is better than the music here, it's failed before it even started. Gamers can listen to the Spotify for free. A game cannot be seen as recommendable just because it competes badly with listening to the radio or to MP3s. So, should you buy this game? Is this one of the best of the 100,000+ games on Steam? The Metronomicon: Slay The Dance Floor has the utterly delusional price of $20 USD, for which you could easily get any number of older AAA games. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, this is impossible to recommend. For comparison, the $20 asking price for this game could get you games like "Prey", "Pillars of Eternity II" or "Cities: Skylines". Quality, professionally made games like those are frequently on sale cheaper than this.
Some good music in here, and I found the overall conceit to be really charming! But I have three major issues with this game: First, engaging the elemental systems requires looking at the monsters on the right side of the screen, and that means taking your eyes off of the notes that need to be watched and hit accurately. Second, this is a music-driven game but not a music-reactive game. That is a design choice and not a flaw as such, but for me personally it makes a rhythm game far less fun when nothing I do has any influence on what I am hearing. Third, the DLC is disconnected from your RPG progression, and the core gameplay in those songs isn’t engaging enough to make up for that lack of integration. They would have been much more appealing if they tied into the existing reward loop. Finally, though this isn't a major issue since I found some workarounds, gamepad support in this game is flaky.
J'adore ce jeu , je suis pédophile
Chato... e parece aqueles jogos flash, java que tem de graça na web...só q pago.
RANDOM GAME 30
I don't think I've ever been this disgusted by an art style. Also the gameplay and especially the songs suck. Like those ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ songs are just NCS ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ making my ears bleed.
Voto: 10/10
