About
The Message from Deep Space is an odyssey of puzzles. Take the role of the mission's Translator, working alongside a scrappy band of scientists, and venture headfirst into the world of deciphering an alien language --- completely from the ground up.
Set in 1973, Earth is the recipient of a meteorite that broadcasts radio waves. In the role of the mission's Translator, the player is responsible for designing responses to the meteorite's transmissions, which, if correct, will elicit new messages from the meteorite. Only through this radio wave dialogue will patterns, words, syntax, and meaning all take form, leaving but one question:
What is it the aliens want to say?
Translate an alien language
Learn about an alien civilization
Interface with a retro computer
Manage a user-driven dictionary
Design radio transmissions by frequency
Collaborate with scientists that respond to your actions
+1000 in-game dialogues
+30 minutes OST
+30 hours of gameplay
Inspired by The Golden Record aboard the Voyager I space probe, The Message from Deep Space takes a realistic approach to deciphering an interstellar message. Beginning with the limited universal constants available to technologically advanced civilizations, the message spans a range of real-world fields of math & science. Decoding the message is tough, but with the support of the game's meticulous linguist, the single-minded computer programmer, and the affable astronomer, it is a challenge fit for anyone with Curiosity and Perseverance.

Very nice game. Currently I'm about halfway through the game (as I can best guess) but its also clear that there is less time put into giving ideas when you're stuck; or comments on your dictionary contributions which I feel certainly do often help in my being sure my reasoning is right. Furthermore a notepad function would have been nice. But I should not talk bad about this game too much. It's incredibly good-looking, the music is nice; and above all it's one of the best puzzle games I've ever played. For the small price this is a HIGHLY recommended from me.

You can make some comments about missing quality of life features but that would completely miss the mark. The real thing to know is that this game is incredibe. It's layered. It has a novel story. It teaches you real world knowledge. It discusses philosophy, in an approachable way. It's a rabbit hole you slowly descend into. Just go in blind and experience something truely unique.
Amazing premise and when things click it is truly wonderful. However, there is far too much math with far too little hints going on here. 300 puzzles in and I am just groaning at yet another ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ math puzzle involving some chemistry or physics concept I haven't touched in 20 years. I am supposed to be the translator in a team with people that would know a lot more about these topics than my character does and these guys just jerk off while I look up online what Heineken's formula or whatever is The interface is also purposefully clunky, to the point where you have to pick between using some excruciating in game tools to solve the puzzles or alt tab to do it somewhere else and just break your immersion's flow. I think you have to be a massive science nerd or an actual academic to truly enjoy this game. I am trying to keep going myself, but that's only because I am invested in seeing where it goes, because it is truly painful at this point.
Most puzzles are overspecified, and some puzzles are underspecified, but it's all still incredibly enjoyable.
The game does such a good job of making you curious about what comes next, and the payoff once you get it right is so worth it. Absolutely loved it. 10/10. Highly recommend going into it as blind as possible.
Very much enjoyed. Per my definition: Thank and Say_goodbye
A great game, but if it seems interesting, play the demo. And if more of that seems good, buy it. The demo is long enough to really work, and the full game progresses nicely. I did have a couple complaints where towards the end, I felt that there wasn't enough time spent with new words to really understand them, making it almost impossible to naturally solve a couple of transmissions without guessing. It's also really obvious that the developer just switched to base-10 because it was easier. I demand the full game to be in base-8.
You'll have to dust off all the geometry and chemistry you forgot from high-school for this one, but it's worth it.
Splendid, marvelous, fun! Puzzles take a moment to adjust, but are cool. The only issue is, when you're typing in your diary and need to hit Esc, you're not requested to input :wq afterwards. A shame.
