The Mermaid Mask

You saw the trailer already, the production value is great! The writing is fun! The voice-acting is top-notch! The mystery was good, stop reading this and go play it! There's even a demo if you for some reason still can't tell what this is.

Mermaid mask Basically, another step up from Tangle Tower. Same design with the added 3D models here and there, the story does go back to a more fantastic setting, a thing that Tangle Tower missed. The duo has a more dynamic exchange and that was a pleasing surprise. Apart from that, it keep all of its forte: great character design, engaging writing and excellent voice over. One thing that (again) Tangle tower was a bit weak was it’s ending which was a bit rushed and lacked a bit of impact. Mermaid Mask’s ending was…impeccable: from its rhythm to it’s somewhat bitter and open conclusion. OST is also full of great track and consistent in term of quality. Unless Adventure game are something you abhorred, Mermaid Mask is definitely a Must have.

정말 잘 만든 추리 게임입니다. 스토리도 흥미롭고, 등장하는 캐릭터들도 각자의 개성이 잘 살아 있습니다. 캐릭터들의 대사와 애니메이션 역시 매력적이라 전체적으로 여유롭게 즐길 수 있었고, 덕분에 스토리 진행과 직접적인 관련이 없는 요소들이더라도 하나씩 살펴보는 재미가 있었습니다. 게임의 진행 방식도 비교적 친절하게 구성되어 있어, 스토리를 따라가면서 크게 막히거나 헤매는 일은 거의 없었습니다. 추리 장르에 익숙하지 않은 플레이어도 부담 없이 즐길 수 있는 작품이라 생각하며, 강력히 추천하는 게임입니다.

It's a decent game, but not a detective game. At all. So if that's what you want to play, this is not for you. It's a point-and-click visual novel. The story is interesting and the characters are fantastically written. Absolutely horrible UX design though, why is ESC controlling full-screen? Why do I have to click to open the inventory, to open the settings, to return to the main menu, to exit the game? It should be ESC > Quit to desktop. Puzzles I found quite tedious and not that enjoyable. 10/10 for story, 6/10 for gameplay. I had a few bugs throughout the game that caused it to freeze during the accusations (so I had to ALT-F4 and restart the convos) and stopped the dictaphone from playing audio back to me, but I seem to be the minority in experiencing bugs. Overall, 7.5/10. Clearly has had a lot of love and care put into the game, and you can really feel that.

O ponto principal do jogo é a história do assassinato do capitão Mortuga, e o jogo te deixa apreensivo e curioso para saber o que aconteceu com ele, cada pista que você pega no jogo (que são bastante) são importantes para te descobrir a trama completa. O design dos personagens é incrível, junto com uma boa narrativa deles que faz com que você se conecte minimamente com cada um dos suspeitos do crime. Ótima dublagem dos personagens e que combina perfeitamente com os personagens do jogo. The Mermaid Mask é um ótimo jogo para que curte uma vibe mais detetive nos videogames.
