I'm really enjoying this game so far , its interesting , keeps you on your toes, its not easy which is great . has a great story line as well . The clues are there but not always easy to find which is good because that makes the game worth its money ,
《The Lighthouse》
Imagine waking up at your desk, giving yet another half a day to the previous night of burying yourself in unfulfilling work and alcohol. It's a day you know all too well, the anniversary of your daughters tragic death from cancer and it's the one day you wish you could forget the most. You hear a knock on your wood rotted office door, you see a silhouette behind the fogged glass and a manila envelope appears through the mail slot. The story is all too familiar, another plea to find a missing person. Yet, on this day, the worst one of them all, you find attached a single yellow lily and an address. The Lighthouse feels like a play out of an episode of the Twilight Zone, yet instead of watching from the outside, your taking part on the inside. As with all episodes of the Twilight Zone, they are short, story-rich, and thought provoking just like The Lighthouse. Filled with beautiful environments and blending with eerie music you can really tell the artist(s) have taken their time to paint a gorgeous scenario. There are various puzzles you have to solve dealing with well thought out crafting mechanics and using various parts of the environment to move forward throughout the narrative-driven story, but overall they're not too difficult and I believe that most folks will appreciate getting back into the story. As an "Early Access Game" I tend to check out the development team and they are crazy small for the amount of work that has been put into this. If I had to compare this game to another I feel that Firewatch shares a lot of the same elements and I'm eagerly waiting for the rest of the Acts to be released to continue the story to see how far that comparison goes.
this game should be removed from steam Apparantly it was early access 5 or more years ago, and they never got past chapter 2, and for 24 bucks what a rip off,
What a delightfully atmospheric game! I've tumbled down the rabbit hole of horror games again lately and have been sadly pretty disappointed in a majority of my findings, however, this game was a very welcomed surprise! Pros: The atmosphere is perfect! The way everything is presented to you at first is a little unsettling, then seemingly normal, and right back into creepy with sprinklings of noir atmosphere. It's just beautifully done. Speaking of beautiful! I'm a stickler for textures. I admire them whenever they have great detail as most of the most wonderful detail work goes unnoticed. The Lighthouse's textures are good, but not mind blowing which is totally fair and okay! Where this game really shines though (bit of pun intended) is it's lighting. The volumetric lighting just helps give everything that dark nuance of something sinister going on. Definitely strong psychological horror notes. I love it when games take your perspective and play with it. Small details or rooms shift and change and this game jumbled up my brain a bit in the best way possible. The cutscenes or cinematic parts are AMAZINGLY well cut. I swear up and down whoever did them has a background with film or at least in some format. The music is quite wonderful as well. Production value feels incredibly high to the point where I felt embarrassed I'm only now getting around to playing this as someone who loves the horror genre. Voice acting is solid! Tons of indie games have weird terrible mixes or never heard of a pop filter before, but from the voice acting to the quality of the audio is great. Minus a minor gripe (detailed below) Cons: There's some gameplay mechanics that could be polished a bit more. The interaction with the door is a bit odd. You almost have to be standing right in front of the door knob to open the door rather than the door itself. Stand too close to the door and it doesn't work either. That's right. I'm nitpicking the door. Because this game is good enough where I'm going to nitpick this of all things. While the score and voice acting are amazing. There's some tiny parts where the mix sounds odd. Main character's voice sounds about right, but right in the beginning, Lily's voice sounds very forward placed. It's almost as if you're standing right in front of her as she's recording the vocals. Again, being SUPER nitpicky, but this stood out to me a bit. TLDR; Story, atmosphere, visuals, audio, it's all amazing. So far, great intro to a mystery I'm excited to unravel. Very small gameplay parts could be reworked a tad to my liking, but it functions completely fine as is. If you're reading this and on the fence, I say dive in! If you're still not sure, I urge you to wishlist the game! Nothing is more heart breaking than seeing an amazing game that obviously has a lot of passion behind it, never come to fruition because it just didn't get the publicity to keep it going. Wishlisting could help more people see it and experience this game for themselves!
Visually outstanding. Plays wonderfully! I can't wait for the other Acts to release. I backed this game during the kickstarter campaign and I can say that this team is dedicated to this game. Definitely recommend for anyone looking for a good Thriller/Psychological Horror game.
So far this game is brilliant. Such an amazing concept and storyline.
So far.... It has so much potential! I loved how it started out. Enjoyed the inventory, puzzle, and crafting system. I felt for the character as the journey begins and once I finished chapter 2 I was really sad the it ended cause it only became more interesting. Voice acting was solid when it took place! Just a few thing to consider: - It is an early access so small things like animations can feel a little clunky. - The game is only about 1 hr of gameplay - The Movement is kinda slow
