Summary
Short free very chill adventure game exploring an island cleaning trash while uncovering its mysteries Pros + Chill + Interesting premise Cons - Buggy achievements - Need polish
Overview
The Last Shores is a short, free, and casual very chill adventure game where you explore an island's mysteries while cleaning trash that's littered around the beaches. It's unfortunate that I lean negatively since the game is really chill and looks very nice while you wander around collecting trash and take in the atmosphere. Even with all the updates there's still jank to the slow movement and the most annoying thing where trash gets hidden underground, making it almost impossible to figure out where you missed them after already circling the island missing only like 3 pieces of trash. The UI and interactions with items or inhabitants of the island could also benefit with more polish as I found at some points I could get softlocked after conversations. What annoyed me the most is no matter what I did to trigger and figure out fixes to unlock the 300 Miles of Walking and Gliding was a huge waste of time as nothing worked. If you aim to get all achievements be prepared to grind movement and if you're lucky it triggers, or if like me just becomes a total headache trying to figure out why it wouldn't trigger. Juego para estar de chill, me gustó bastante
Good!
Very quickly becomes boring. Lacks some basic game features
Nice little game with some light exploration and story. Sadly the movement is a bit clunky and the camera is stuck sometimes. Sprinting would be nice and faster boat movement/climbing out of water. Also it is very easy to finish the game way before it even really began. Other than this, I like it!
It's free, but it still has problems and inconsistencies. - The terrain seems untested; there are parts that are impossible to reach without trying to jump in 20 different ways. - There's trash that can't be collected, it's hidden or not even there. - There are many sections where you see grass the color of sand. The terrain is too big and empty with nothing to do, which is a waste. - When you fall into the water, there's no animation. You press the jump button, you hear a sound, but nothing happens. - The crabs have no animation, they just move.
I am shall just get right to it. if you are reading this please remember it's just a game and just one opinion and findings. yes, in my review I will write this in a mix of bad and good grammar/syntax a mix of read as written or read as if it's spoken. this is somewhat how I show/know if something is off when I hear it or read it I would give this a 6 out of 10 because 5 is not enough and 10's to many. (inside joke from Dapper Manatee - Thomas/Mitch) any-who 6/10 1. getting around the island is nice and easy but also slow, and feels like a purposeful choice to make the game last longer/feel longer, I think it's not a great choice to push that, for the whole game, for me it gets tedious and boring. 2. I would suggest having some more story or at least "hidden" story for those gamers that re-explore in one play though. it looks to me like there a a few plot holes. 3. some to most of the in-game conversation text needs to be re-reviewed as there are grammar and syntax errors. (English) 4. the gliding function needs some more work as I could not get it to activate most times, and when it did work the animation does not load every time. otherwise gliding was a nice feature 5. more/different/"better" upgrades, if you are going to put in things like scaling up items (backpack) or the like, using boats or running around for 2ish hours (steam rounds down for the time and rounds up the time some) needs to also scaled up some to a point and/or have the option for upgrades. 6. intro does not wait for a person to be able to read the text and in the game there seems to be no way to read text faster if a person wanted to. 7. key controls and video needs more functions like "key binding to a persons preferred style" and have the game load in a windowed/full-screen/windowless mode "like having a smaller screen/window to play the game on" 8. most to ALL of the video/art, in my opinion, is some of the best art and video I have seen in a while and I would metaphorically bet money(I am poor-ish LOL) that it is the best that has come out if it was to be judged against other games, even some AAA games that I have had a chance to play on "steam free weekends" events, the sound are great and the music is pretty good. 9. some achievements seem to be hard to activate like "all locations" and others seem un-do-able or ridiculous like 300 miles for "walking" or "gliding" I hope this helps with future games and game development
My graphics card is the AMD Radeon 6750 GRE 12GB version. When running this game, I experienced severe frame drops and screen stuttering. After just a few minutes of gameplay, the experience was truly terrible. I hope you can optimize it—the gameplay is quite good.
beautiful and fun game! just the type I was looking for with this kind of game 3rd person and beautiful scenery with the cutest fish and crabs... I couldn't get enough had to leave bc of controller issues but still left happy though not finished!
