The Last Shores

It's a walking sim with a 'numbers go up' aspect. The vibe is nice and relaxing, but the game gets in your way. - You're cleaning trash, but a lot is hidden underground. So unless you happen to walk over it... - The speed in the water is close to 0. Especially annoying if you fall of an island and you have to swim to one of the few places where you can get up again (Looking at you Big Hole) - The boat is not much better. You're not having fun, you're just waiting. (Looking at you Hidden Island) - The game slows down a LOT when you look horizon level. I have a beast of a PC, I shudder to think how the average player is affected. - There is not a lot of gameplay in the game. Would be ok if the game was nice to walk around in, but again, the game itself gets in the way. It's free, but not really worth your time I think. There are better casual games that might not be free but you will enjoy better.

Its free, pretty, but has problems that makes one not want to play it more than 30 minutes. The photo mode is cool, the story's message has good meaning, the trash count is welcomed especially for collecting all the trash achievement. For the devs first offical steam game it was a amazing start. I wish they spent more time on it, cause the use of Chat GPT(Ai) is noticeable and not in a good way not to say I dont think this dev cant do better. The achievements will pop randomly without you even doing them yourself. The camera is awful and super slow, which is the main reason why I dont recommend this game. There's no volume scroller other than to turn off the music which for me was needed. Traveling through or even trying to get out of the water is a slug and bugged. it did run though on a steam deck

Cute, but thin and unfinished. The movement, camera, and recycling animations are grindingly (purposefully?) slow. The core loop is drudgery. You get what you pay for, I guess.

I liked the premise of the game, laid back and chill with a curious story. However, the movement feels very clunky: - can't run whatsoever - glider keybind barely reacts - if glider finally opens, it instantly closes - can't climb out of the water if you walk in Also some achievements triggered way before I even got them, and my trash collection progress counter reset when I turned back because I thought I was too close to the end game. Don't think I was though, as I returned there later and got lost as to what to do. Got tired of the effort to get out of the water so never got to the endgame I think? If the abovementioned movement issues are resolved it'll definitely be easier to explore and find where the story ends. Hope to see an update! (edited a typo)

for a free game this was pretty fun and decent enough. i don't know if it has to do w my system but it is a bit unoptimized. lags a lot during trash collections. i also usually review once i 100% a game but in this case, the last 2 cheevos seem to be unattainable so i'll drop this game for now. speaking of achievements, really REALLY bugged. i got an achievement during a title card that you're meant to get at the end of the game. still, gorgeous art and there's a story that can be extrapolated here. left enough questions to be a mystery, and i don't mind a new game where the lore is expanded.

It's still messy as of now, but I believe in you ! Increase player's walking speed, make sure that they start they way forward rather than backward at the beginning, add french translation, allow to repeat discussion with PNJs in order to check if we haven't forgot everything. You've got great potential for a studio, don't waste it ! I fear you'll permanently be in the "Mostly positive" tier if you do not fix up those mistakes quickly.

It's unfortunate that I lean negatively since the game is really chill and looks very nice while you wander around collecting trash and take in the atmosphere. Even with all the updates there's still jank to the slow movement and the most annoying thing where trash gets hidden underground, making it almost impossible to figure out where you missed them after already circling the island missing only like 3 pieces of trash. The UI and interactions with items or inhabitants of the island could also benefit with more polish as I found at some points I could get softlocked after conversations. What annoyed me the most is no matter what I did to trigger and figure out fixes to unlock the 300 Miles of Walking and Gliding was a huge waste of time as nothing worked. If you aim to get all achievements be prepared to grind movement and if you're lucky it triggers, or if like me just becomes a total headache trying to figure out why it wouldn't trigger.
