Halloween celebrations are in full swing, in the harbour town of Saxton. Ghost-hunter, Nigel Danvers, doesn't believe the night is any different. He knows that ghosts exist, so why would tonight be any different? Nigel and his ghost-hunting partner, Lucy Reubans, are in for a supernatural surprise.

_________________________________________________________________________________ A game that offers good times, with an interesting staging in B / W and set in a lost village on the English coast, and a story that engages, with touches of folklore and paranormal events, sometimes funny but sometimes also somewhat slow and too linear. Recommended for those who like "point & click" games, with enigmas and puzzles of medium difficulty.
I enjoyed this one. It’s extremely short, but it still delivers the same spooky atmosphere that made me like *The Lost Crown* in the first place, and it definitely scratched my investigative itch. I also really liked spending more time with Nigel, Lucy, and the other characters from the first game. That familiarity gave this micro-adventure a nice sense of continuity and made the short runtime feel worthwhile. My main complaint is readability. I really hope the developer makes the text in the books more legible in the next game. Having to put on reading glasses and then lean as close as possible to the monitor just to read things is irritating, uncomfortable, and takes me out of the experience. It hurts immersion more than it should. There aren’t any achievements here, but for a small side adventure, I still recommend it. If you liked *The Lost Crown* and want a brief return to that world, this is worth playing.
This is a short point and click game that follows The Lost Crown. It is set in the same town with many of the same characters but is a much smaller game. I finished it in about 8 hours playing very leisurely but an experienced adventure gamer may finish in just a couple of hours. There are only a few puzzles and they are not very difficult. There are lots of things that seem important but don't lead anywhere, and you can sidetracked on them. There are no steam achievements for it. During play it can seem like you're stuck and not making any progress. You'll perform some action and it isn't immediately clear sometimes that you've done anything. There are choices that will affect the outcome if not the main story line. I saw questions in the forums asking whether or not the game was bugged. I played through without any issues at all and I think it plays as designed. My advice if you're stuck is to look around thoroughly, talk to everyone multiple times, do actions multiple times (even if they don't seem to do anything), and don't forget outside. There are only a few areas in this game so there really isn't that much to check. I would not resort to a walkthough because there are very few things to solve here and you'll probably regret it. I'd recommend this game to anyone who likes point and click adventure games.
This is a nice "halloween special" set right after the events of the first game, but it's pretty short and there's not really much to it. So if you're a fan of the original game, and you're looking for something fun for halloween I would recommend getting it. But If you didn't played the first game or you're not much into it then you can skip it.
It's great to back in Saxton! The series debut The Lost Crown rates among one of my alltime favourite point n' click games. The tones and nuance of the atmosphere throughout the games memorable scenes, the extremely accomplished and artful use of fairly lo-fi graphics, the eccentric yet sincere English regionalism of the setting and cast, intelligently written puzzles and mysteries and a haunting soundtrack lifted that game above so many other ghostly themed titles. Given how many lazily developed first-person jumpscareathons lurch up from under algae-laden bridges on Steam of late, Darkling Rooms commitment to legitimately scripted and evidently well-researched horror is nothing short of heroic in this market of lowest common denominators. I feel like it's been an age since the announcement of (and the delay of) the titles sequel, but given that it's apparently finally coming out this year warms my cockles.

Any excuse to revisit Saxton and it's inhabitants.
I love Halloween, so I tried to like this game but just could not, so after just 76 minutes I just decided to uninstall it instead.
This game sucks. A lot. SUCC
