About
Lured in by shared nightmares, madmen travel to a remote island crowned by a silent Tower. No one remembers the journey.
The Lantern of the Laughless Saint is an open world RPG built around exploration and connection. You learn the land by walking it, following rumors, reading scraps of burned history, and meeting lost souls who wandered to the ends of the Earth, following the same feverish dream of a light buried beneath the Tower.
Somewhere in the depths is a theater with an empty stage, waiting for an audience. As you repair or ruin the lives of the island's inhabitants, the phantoms they leave behind take their seats in the audience. The more seats you fill, the more the island listens, and the greater the applause for your final act.
And if you don’t want to descend alone, you don’t have to. The entire game is fully playable in co-op: explore the island together, delve into the depths for treasures, and make the choices that will decide the fate of everyone on the island, and beyond...
A wild, ancient island to explore
Follow leads, find shortcuts into the Tower, stumble into side stories, and piece together what is real and what is mere delusion.
Open Ended
Most quests have multiple resolutions. Mercy, violence, compromise, deceit.
A large cast of bizarre characters
Many strange folk find their home on the island. A giant toad learning to read. An ancient skeleton who just wants to swim. A musician from a faraway land hunts for something precious. Everyone has a theory for why you’re here. None of them agree.
The Amphitheater
Your choices change the world. Treat others with kindness and generosity, and a trusted friend will take their seat in your audience. Fail or abuse them, and something darker takes their place. The House fills either way.
Visceral Combat with multiple weapon types
Punchy combat against strange horrors
Full co-op
Play the whole game together. Explore the world, share the spoils, and decide who you will become, because the consequences belong to all of you.
The Tower does not call the whole. It calls the broken, the wanting.
Fill the seats. Start the performance. Find out what is buried at the bottom of the well.

Kurz und knapp: Klare Empfehlung, mir gefällt der Look, Worlddesign, Skillsystem und die schönen dunklen Nächte des Spiels. Die Entwickler bringen auch schnell Bugfixes und Verbesserungen raus. Freue mich was da in Zukunft noch kommt. In short: Highly recommended. I like the look, the world design, the skill system, and the game's beautiful dark nights. The developers are also quick to release bug fixes and improvements. I look forward to seeing what’s coming next.

Unoptimized "early access" game that isn't even ready for a playtest. Feels like the developer(s) will almost certainly disappear shortly after taking their money..would be a sweet game, but far too many problems ~ ranging from mild inconveniences to fun-sucking $#!thole experiences. If they fix it: awesome, i'd probably play this game like hell...if they inevitably vanish into the ether without a trace: I wouldn't be even a bit surprised. Cool idea, though..
Good game so far, user interface needs some work. The selection wheel feature may seem intuitive but it isn't. I think you should remove it and maybe make something a little more straight forward like a list of favorites.
I haven't even had a chance to really play it yet but the few minutes loading in were pretty cool. The true reason for this review is the fact that day one of launch the dev team has pushed out three hotfixes to solve day one issues containing well over 50 fixes. For an early access title and hell for even fully released games this is unheard of. Good job guys.
Please change the combat music
Its so good, but so badly buggy atm. I love it.
I don't appreciate being insulted by a game that I paid for. Whoever thought that a fake "Objective Marker" option that insults the player was a good idea was wrong. Other issues include poor performance considering the visuals on offer, no up-scaling options, and no HDR support.
Woah there partner! Stay a moment and listen to my tale before you go and purchase this here game. Firstly, I want to say that I do like this game. It has a lot of promise and character. It feels very much like a classic RPG and my mind races with possibilities when I play. That said, it is VERY MUCH a diamond in the rough. And I mean really rough. Claiming Morrowind as the primary source of inspiration is a weighty thing. The alien landscapes and strange creatures, the freedom to fail or succeed spectacularly, and the unlevelled zones are all there. What is not there (yet) is the polish. A lot of mechanics available in Morrowind (which released 24 years ago) are not yet to be found in this game. Skill trees are incomplete. the UI is extremely basic. There is a sense of tedium in managing inventory or trying to sell things or put them in storage. In an rpg, managing your inventory is half the game. Enemies have three different AI. A ball that jumps at you, a swordsman that uses the same three moves, and a ranger that lobs arrows or spells while backpedaling as fast as you can advance. Despite the variety in enemy models, all fights end up feeling the same. Ranged enemies are especially frustrating to me. The use of synth in a fantasy rpg is... a choice. It could be awesome if done well, but a lot of the tracks are 6 second loops that don't jive with the atmosphere. At one point a song annoyed me so badly I turned off the music volume and I haven't gone back. Optimization is bad right now. I have a respectable rig (gtx3080, i9) and I have to turn this game that looks 20 years old down to medium settings. Even still, in areas with lots of actors or buildings the stuttering cannot be helped. There's also a prevailing sense of jank with hit detection and object collision. What really sets this game apart is the allure of multiplayer. I played with two friends for about two hours and it was fun but also a mess. Enemies tended to jitter around in combat. NPC's would turn hostile for no reason. We would randomly become invisible to eachother. This is all stuff I would expect from an early access game made by a small time developer. What I cannot look past however is the issue of save corruption. We ended up losing all two hours of our session because when the host saved at the end it reset our characters and inventories to the start of the game. My biggest pet peeve in games is having my time wasted so that was very irritating. It probably sounds like I hate this game by now, but truthfully I've been having dreams about it and thinking of builds I can try when I get home from work. This game is in a very early release state and I hope it improves, but early access releases have a bad track record and I don't know this developer form a can of paint. I can see this game being worth $30-$40 dollars down the road if they can polish these issues, and I will be very disappointed if this turns into another half finished product.
