*informational review EA Open world RPG + crafting - needs polishing = Skyrim on a budget. Gather materials to craft potions and equipment. During the night time, you can't really see much and the daytime should be longer. Well... As an rpg player, I like to play this game, there are nice options such as mining, crafting, alchemy etc to spend time. But as a quick review, I saw that there are not much weapon choices for main character and also for enemies, I hope they will fix and improve it. I really wish to see how the story will be improved. Nice work. Keep going guys.
Would recommend it. I loved the freedom in craft system, and the full voice support. However, more items and enemies will be better.
Well, a very excellent game, but you need to improve the graphics
I thought this would be really cool to run around in and just enjoy but the animations are janky, the game nearly crashed on saving, there are plants in plain view that aren't picking up when I press E etc. Like this could be really cool if you fixed up the jank and added an auto run button at least, and add things like proper map marker system and made the UI a little more detailed, but otherwise I can't play this. If it gets a lot of work I'll come back.
Arcis Ultima is an ambitious open-world fantasy RPG developed and published by Pear vs Apple that places players in a kingdom struggling to survive after a devastating war. Rather than presenting a world on the rise, the game begins at a point where civilization has already suffered a catastrophic defeat. Hostile creatures have pushed humanity to the edge of extinction, settlements live under constant threat, and every remaining soldier fights to reclaim territory that has already been lost. This darker premise gives the game a unique atmosphere and establishes a sense of urgency that shapes nearly every aspect of the experience. The world of Arcis Ultima is built around the idea of an ongoing conflict rather than a static environment. Instead of acting as a lone hero disconnected from larger events, players become part of a broader war effort. Villages, military forces, and hostile creatures all exist within a landscape defined by struggle and survival. The sense that the world is fighting for its future gives exploration additional meaning because every region carries evidence of the conflict. The atmosphere is often bleak, but it effectively reinforces the narrative of a civilization attempting to recover from near destruction. One of the most distinctive features of the game is its dynamic warfare system. Players can monitor military engagements through a dedicated interface that tracks conflicts occurring across the world. Rather than waiting for scripted story missions to trigger battles, players have the freedom to participate in ongoing campaigns whenever they choose. This creates the impression of a living conflict where events continue with or without direct player involvement. Joining battles, assisting settlements, and contributing to military victories helps make the player feel like an active participant in shaping the future of the kingdom. Exploration plays a major role in the overall experience. The game encourages players to travel freely across forests, mountains, villages, and wilderness areas in search of resources, opportunities, and hidden discoveries. Unlike heavily guided role-playing games that constantly direct players toward specific objectives, Arcis Ultima often allows exploration to occur at the player's own pace. This freedom creates a strong sense of adventure and gives players the opportunity to define their own priorities within the larger world. Crafting is one of the deepest systems available and serves as a cornerstone of progression. Players can gather materials from the environment and transform them into useful equipment, potions, and supplies. The crafting mechanics go beyond simple recipe completion by allowing experimentation with ingredients and materials. Alchemy, in particular, rewards curiosity by enabling players to create different potion effects through varied ingredient combinations. The blacksmithing system similarly encourages customization, with material choices and skill levels influencing the quality of crafted gear. Character development is handled through an organic progression system that ties advancement directly to player actions. Instead of relying entirely on traditional level-up mechanics, attributes improve through repeated use. Characters become stronger by fighting, more resilient by enduring hardships, and more capable through practical experience. This approach creates a stronger connection between gameplay and progression because character growth feels earned through actions rather than simply accumulated experience points. Combat introduces additional complexity through a localized injury system. Different body parts possess individual health values, meaning that damage has consequences beyond a simple reduction in overall health. Injuries can impair movement and combat effectiveness, forcing players to think carefully about risk management and preparation. This system creates a more grounded approach to combat where surviving a battle is not always enough; avoiding severe injuries becomes equally important. As a result, encounters often feel more meaningful and carry greater tension than standard role-playing combat. The game also incorporates numerous survival-oriented activities that help flesh out the world. Mining, hunting, gathering herbs, trading, and resource collection all contribute to the overall progression loop. These activities provide alternatives to constant combat and allow players to engage with the world in different ways. For those who enjoy immersive role-playing experiences, these systems help create the feeling of living within the game world rather than simply passing through it. Another welcome feature is the ability to recruit companions. Mercenaries can be hired to assist in combat and accompany the player on dangerous journeys. This adds an additional layer of strategy, as managing allies becomes an important consideration during difficult encounters. Traveling with a group also reinforces the game's larger themes of cooperation and survival in a world threatened by overwhelming forces. Visually, Arcis Ultima favors functionality over spectacle. The environments successfully convey the atmosphere of a kingdom at war, featuring settlements, forests, and battlefields that support the game's themes. While the graphics lack the polish and technical sophistication of major studio RPGs, they effectively communicate the world and provide a suitable backdrop for exploration and adventure. The presentation reflects the project's independent nature but still manages to establish a convincing fantasy setting. The game's greatest weakness stems from its unfinished state. Many of its systems show considerable promise, but some aspects feel incomplete or underdeveloped compared to the scale of the original vision. Certain mechanics lack refinement, and the absence of continued development means that some planned features were never fully realized. Players expecting a highly polished blockbuster RPG may find the rough edges difficult to overlook. However, those willing to accept the game's limitations will discover a project filled with ambitious ideas and creative systems. What makes Arcis Ultima memorable is not flawless execution but the breadth of its ambitions. The combination of open-world exploration, dynamic warfare, crafting depth, survival mechanics, and flexible progression systems creates an experience that often feels larger than the resources behind it. The game consistently prioritizes player freedom and encourages experimentation, allowing individuals to approach the world according to their preferred style of play. Arcis Ultima ultimately stands as an intriguing independent RPG that offers a surprisingly rich sandbox experience. Its dynamic war systems, detailed crafting mechanics, immersive progression, and open-ended exploration provide a solid foundation for role-playing enthusiasts who enjoy freedom and experimentation. Although its unfinished status prevents it from reaching its full potential, the game remains a worthwhile experience for players interested in ambitious indie RPGs that focus on survival, warfare, and player-driven storytelling.
