About
Lured in by shared nightmares, madmen travel to a remote island crowned by a silent Tower. No one remembers the journey.
The Lantern of the Laughless Saint is an open world RPG built around exploration and connection. You learn the land by walking it, following rumors, reading scraps of burned history, and meeting lost souls who wandered to the ends of the Earth, following the same feverish dream of a light buried beneath the Tower.
Somewhere in the depths is a theater with an empty stage, waiting for an audience. As you repair or ruin the lives of the island's inhabitants, the phantoms they leave behind take their seats in the audience. The more seats you fill, the more the island listens, and the greater the applause for your final act.
And if you don’t want to descend alone, you don’t have to. The entire game is fully playable in co-op: explore the island together, delve into the depths for treasures, and make the choices that will decide the fate of everyone on the island, and beyond...
A wild, ancient island to explore
Follow leads, find shortcuts into the Tower, stumble into side stories, and piece together what is real and what is mere delusion.
Open Ended
Most quests have multiple resolutions. Mercy, violence, compromise, deceit.
A large cast of bizarre characters
Many strange folk find their home on the island. A giant toad learning to read. An ancient skeleton who just wants to swim. A musician from a faraway land hunts for something precious. Everyone has a theory for why you’re here. None of them agree.
The Amphitheater
Your choices change the world. Treat others with kindness and generosity, and a trusted friend will take their seat in your audience. Fail or abuse them, and something darker takes their place. The House fills either way.
Visceral Combat with multiple weapon types
Punchy combat against strange horrors
Full co-op
Play the whole game together. Explore the world, share the spoils, and decide who you will become, because the consequences belong to all of you.
The Tower does not call the whole. It calls the broken, the wanting.
Fill the seats. Start the performance. Find out what is buried at the bottom of the well.

Well, it has potential, and way more than that other game I got suckered into because "it's like morrowind!" (not even close, the game is dread delusion) Anyway I like: -the open world -fighting is fine -comparisons to Morrowind (pocket noise, plants, weirdness, leveling in many different things) all of these make it better than the Morrowind sequels to me -music transitions are better than morrowind -dialog is better than morrowind (and the sequels too, especially skyrim was so obnoxious) -very smooth overall I HATE (please change): -The fact that when I sprint I go from first to 3rd person, what the hell?? Please change that -One of the battle musics sound like they should be in a Sci-fi game, completely take me out of it -The music as I approach the mouth is AWFUL, it's got this piercing D note thing that sounds like a glitch, and I thought, "okay I'll just leave and it'll change" but man it's the only damn music it plays now. I had to turn the music off! -Buttons chosen to open menus won't close them again, that is really frustrating -The load screen doesn't scroll down to my last save, so I have to choose the newest auto save which isn't my preference. I don't like The map, A for effort, C- for implementation. May we have a closer-range map please? Can't pick up other plants, only one seems available, but you can get those plants elsewhere and you can destroy those plants but then not pick up ingredients? That's weird I got used to the mindcraft graphics but thought that was obnoxious, but then all of a sudden I would come back to the game and start where I left off and the graphics got better! I had everything to max quality and it was fine, but the graphics are better than they were showing me! After a minute the better graphics went away again. So that's weird I didn't mind most of the music, it's at least not bothersome, it's not morrowind but it's not like the morrowind music people could ever capture that game's majesty (oblivion was mediocre, caves absolutely sucked, and Skyrim was just as bad and even THEY knew Morrowind music was great because they incorporated some!) Strange glitch when you meet the first guy who runs off, but if I load the game again he's just lying dead.

great game so far, has a lot of promise. bit buggy, and it stutters quite a bit when it's foggy and when in densely populated areas; i.e. the tower and the first town. only complaints i have are these: 1. no small race/height slider. i can't be a little guy... ;( 2. unarmed and spear have pretty lack luster animations in comparison to the other weapons, unarmed especially with how they don't even move the camera when you swing. 3. companions feel horrible with how easily they're killed. 4. higher fovs with the uruhan (bear race) make you clip into your own body for a bunch of animations. it's early access, so hopefully all of these will be addressed. mainly the animations and clipping, but i wanna be a little guy...
This is a love letter to Morrowind with waaaay better melee mechanics. I enjoy this game a lot. There are some issues with clipping, and the stealth mechanics are a bit strange (enemy doesn't see me yet, i crouch, he now sees me), archery is very difficult but the melee and magic are very well implemented, in my opinion. Also alchemy! My favorite skill to master. They've got a great foundation for it already and it will only get better. The in game book lore and the dialogues with NPCs is top notch RPG writing- not to be missed! I am very excited for the future of this game...mostly so I can unlock fishing. Thank you devs! Runs great on Mint linux. ps. ♥♥♥♥ you Todd Howard
The game is just straight up unfinished, in terms of content, stability, and polish. Unfortunately I'm a devout simp for Morrowind so 10/10 GOTY
10/10. I found the individual. This is the best game ever
Fantastic RPG with a lot of what made Morrowind great. No hand holding, no quest markers or similar. Combat is what you'd expect having played TES but it's servicable. The story was intriguing enough for me to see it all the way through. Finished at Patch/Hotfix 11 and there are still plenty of bugs and performance issues. Especially once you step into the tower, the fps can really tank in certain spots. Devs have been working a lot since release and I'm sure I'll come back in a few years when there's more content (Devs have been teasing more endings to come).
Me and my friend have been playing this together. one of the best co-op rpg experiences of my life. this game scratches the itch i got when i was 14 and me and my best friend who lived at the end of my driveway both got morrowind goty for christmas. we would sit in the same room playing on our xbox wishing we could both be in the same game. and with the way this game looks and feels in early access i have high hopes for future updates.
♥♥♥♥ me this game is so good. Buy this game. Love letter to real RPGs. Perfect.
This game is actually fire. Really eccentric in the best way, sort of like Morrowind which it’s obviously inspired by. Honestly to me it feels like Morrowind and Elden Ring had a baby. Really cool game. I’m on steam deck and it has been working great, reviews are gonna be all over the place because the game updates a lot I’m sure updates will come that make steam deck crash but seems like they patch it pretty fast so don’t stress the bad performance reviews, honestly the devs seem on it the game has ran 100% perfect and it’s definitely worth more than $20
The game is fantastic, if you loved Morrowind or other Elder Scrolls games it'll be perfect also. No hand holding, no fast travel, but the exploration feel is fantastic. Spellcrafting in the Morrowind style and weapon upgrades feel great for the incremental progression gamer. It's a clean revamping of the traditional rpg that keeps me coming back for more. Fantastic game, I hope to keep discovering hundreds of hours of content.
