Here's a bundle of my thoughts on this. I definitely enjoyed it, about half the puzzles are straightforward, the other half are challenging but certainly not impossible. Good mix of puzzle types too, my favourite was the concert hall one for some reason but I liked the turbine room too. The whole game has a lot of character. I liked the camera mechanic, very useful and saved having to write down everything (although there was plenty I needed to write down too, especially in one of the rooms!) Visually, it’s appealing; the lore that’s gradually revealed to you at the beginning through letters and newspapers is intriguing (a mansion with a treasure), and the first puzzle when you enter the mansion—with that clock featuring letters—is thought-provoking. But I’ve stopped playing for now, waiting for an update so I can play with my PS5 controller. I can only move around; for almost everything else, I have to use my laptop’s keyboard. I don’t like playing with a keyboard. I’ll still leave the game as “recommended” because I have high hopes for it, but I’ll wait until I don’t have to rely on my keyboard at all.
So, I finally beat 100% of this game. It took some brain to do that cause I’m a bit stupid but overall the game is great. If you like puzzles, blue prince, lorelei and stuff like that this is your game. Overall I loved the experience, puzzle ideas were great, design is artistic without needing to be supper realistic, i love the design of it and it all. But, I had a similar problem I personally had with both lorelei and blue prince. I wish the controls were a tiny bit better, better movement, a way to read better the information and overall a different approach to clues/hints. A way for them to be more clear or easy to access. The movement thing made traversing back and forth around the labyrinth feel a bit more awful (burrows and stairs in particular) even tho you don’t have to backtrack much, i feel you should for the final puzzle. Sometimes I felt lost, sometimes I was unsure if i was on the right track or I understood the things correctly, but this is the lesser thing and may just be a me or puzzle common problem. So dev, saw your game, gave it a try, really recommend it, i think if they fix those tiny details this could easily be in the same level of blue prince and lorelei and overall a great experience for us puzzle lovers. You did an awesome job! Also played on steamdeck, besides the typing inputs all okay!
That was incredibley fun well built puzzle game. 1 note . please make the button on the very very first chest outside the castle a bit more obvious to push XD . I'm stupid
fun little blue prince reminiscent puzzle game
Sure the game is compelling and pretty but the difficulty is way too high. Stuck as soon as in the second room shouldnt happen. I just cleared Looking for Fael without any guide : this is a very well balanced puzzle game, you should inspire from it to adjust difficulty of your game.
Ok, i have JUST finished the game, it was much shorter than i imagined but i liked it a lot (it may say that i played 4.7h but that´s not true, some of that time i had the game on while i went to eat). It was mostly shorter because it lets us decide if we want to go through one path or the other, and i used both of my first keys on the left wing. I skipped the sudoku puzzle and hopped (hehe, pun intended) onto the poles puzzle, from there i solved everything else. It was pretty great and easy, i think this was my first time compleating a puzzle game without a guide and i loved it, the instructions were pretty clear, the puzzles were clever and they weren´t excessively hard (at least the ones i got to compleate). The one thing i think was not exactly right was the crossword puzzle, the clue about the words being inspired by each room but they were not written within the walls. Maybe it was a play on words because the words were in the letter OUTSIDE the mansion, but i assumed that anything that was written inside the property could not be used. Still, i knew that when i saw the subtle underlines in the letter, it was gonna have a meaning later on. I got scared with the paintings/sound puzzle, because my first language is not english, and i played Blue prince, wich has a similar puzzle, and in both of these games they used words i had never known before (i never heard or saw the word reeds in my life), but this one was easier given that there were the same number of paintings as there were options. The visuals and artstyles were pretty and matched the vibes, the music was nice, thought there were times where i think the music just stoped coming for a minute or so, don´t know if it is deliberate or not but just wanted to let somebody know, still, i liked it but i prefer more soothing music, this one gave me energy/action vibes (don´t know if i´m saying it right XD). I´m gonna play the game again and I´ll be solving every puzzle this time so that i can give a better review.
This is hands down the best not only indie but puzzle game EVER made, the game design is so amazing. Backed by a brilliantly designed Soundtrack that truly reflects not only the atmosphere but also your entire thinking process... Furthermore the feeling you get after completing the puzzles is crazy. I would 100% recommend this game to absolutely everyone no matter what games you like. This is definitely worth every penny. 5 Stars Jonny, please keep making games!
I went into this game expecting it to be charming, but quick and more focused on atmosphere than the actual puzzles. I was pleasantly surprised! Pretty much everything about this game is amazing. Yes, the visual design is unique and stunning, but the puzzles are the perfect balance between challenging and doable. Because I played this right after it came out, there was only half a guide to assist, and if I can solve the puzzles, you can too! I really appreciated how unique every puzzle was, and how there were two puzzles throughout that you complete at the very end. The story is really good, but I do wish Dan got a better ending. I became attached to him through his notes. Everything was 10/10, but my favorite part was the soundtrack. The music is hauntingly beautiful. I look forward to seeing what else this developer creates in the future.
Very cool short game that fills the Blue-Prince-shaped hole in my heart. The rooms are all very mysterious and unique. Beautiful artstyle overall. The riddles can be quite challenging but are possible without any help. I needed some hints for the mirror room and the final riddle though. Would definitely recommend!
