Reviews

This game has a lot of potential, but the devs won't fix the broken mechanics. You would think Nate Simpson was running this show.
Has potential if it weren't for broken mechanics and a playerbase more toxic and cannibalistic than Dayz.
i was never really interested in dinosaurs and probably would’ve never bought a game about them to begin with, but i saw people playing this game with proximity chat and it made me interested in it. bought it and now it’s one of the most fun and engaging games ever. it genuinely made me want to learn how each dinosaur works in the game and there’s so much you can do. there are also so many servers to choose from so you’ll always find something to do. It’s definitely worth buying yall
The Isle has some of the best dinosaur mechanics and atmosphere I've ever experienced, which honestly makes its flaws even more frustrating. The biggest issue is that the game mistakes time investment for meaningful gameplay. Growing a dinosaur can take hours, yet most of that time is spent walking between food and water, hiding from larger players, and hoping nothing finds you. Then, after investing your entire evening into growing a dinosaur, one unlucky encounter or one massive group deciding to kill you sends you right back to square one. The map is huge but feels far too empty. A typical session consists of long stretches of walking while doing next to nothing, followed by a brief fight that can erase hours of progress—even on 500-player servers. The Isle has incredible potential, but it's held back by tedious gameplay loops, excessive time investment, unstable performance, countless bugs, inconsistent balance, and a development cycle that still feels like it hasn't delivered what players have been waiting for after 10 years. So, would I recommend this game? Absolutely not. Maybe if it were free—and even then, I wouldn't recommend it to my friends... only to my enemies. A complete waste of time and money.
This game is complete garbage. There is NO EXCUSE for the developers to have a huge map full of lush vegetation and have only ONE KIND of plant that is edible for Herbivores, and a mere handful of places to get water, and never shall the two meet. Constantly having to trek 200 miles for either food or water does NOT a fun game make. It's boring and frustrating. I met one other player on a server with hundreds, and he ate me without a word, but i died several times in a row just looking for water. When i finally found some i didn't get halfway there when an allosaurus saved me the indignity of yet another thirst death. The influencers who spend all day recording their plays seem to have fun, but it seems likely to me that those moments are VERY few and far between. Screw this garbage game.
The game is completely unplayable unless you play unofficial servers, You will spend hours growing a dinosaur just to get killed by a hacker on official servers. The Dev's and Server Admins do nothing and it has progressively gotten worse over the years and is rampant.
Server Quality is absolutely CRIMINAL... Shame on steam for letting them sell this here... games great but the server lag will give you epilepsy.... for real... it should be illegal to sell games on here with servers like that.. its unplayable... never mind the bugs and all that ... its early access that is expected.. but the servers are to far.... like should be illegal for steam to sell this as a playable anything...
this is the starcitizen of dinosaur games. its never going to be done and its always going to be a broken incomplete mess. (edit, after tring evrima with voice servers, its better xp... but still broken AF)
