About
Takumi Sumino is a totally average teenager living in the Tokyo Residential Complex, a place where every day is much like the last and nothing bad ever happens. All that changes when freakish monsters attack the town and start wreaking havoc. A strange creature calling himself Sirei appears and offers Takumi the power to protect those he holds dear... All he has to do is stab himself in the chest!
The next thing he knows, Takumi is in Last Defense Academy, a school in the middle of nowhere surrounded by a wall of otherworldly flames. He and 14 other students have been drafted into the Special Defense Unit, a team tasked with keeping the school safe for the next 100 days. How much are they willing to sacrifice to take back their normal lives and save the world from the grotesque school invaders?
The curtain rises on 100 days of war and despair...
Takumi's choices will decide his future, but there's no telling what kind of consequences these decisions might have...
When the invaders attack, it's up to you to protect the school in SRPG battles.
Use each student's unique Specialist Skills to turn the tide of battle in your favor!
Spend time with your teammates to deepen your bonds, or explore the wilderness and ruins outside the school.
You can even use the items you find to craft gifts and get even closer to your allies!

80 hours in... and I don't even know if I'm halfway through all the content in this game. Can't recommend enough if you like Zero Escape and Danganronpa. Least favorite part of the game is the combat. Sometimes it feels fun but often teeters on easy or tedious. Be prepared for A LOT of reading.

Meta The game plays out across 100 days. After you get your first ending (where your choices do not matter), you get to relive the 100 days very differently. After a 100 hours put into the game, the 100 endings just feels like a cheap marketing stunt. You get 100 endings spread across 22 different routes. Most of them do not reach the 100th day, but that might be a good thing considering the length of the game. From time to time you have to play a minigame to persuade a character to do something, whether it is to fight, tell the truth, or something else. It feels like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Danganronpa class trial with zero consequences since getting the wrong answer just makes you replay it until you answer correctly. Luckily there aren't too many of these. The days get tedious to go through because of the sheer number of cutscenes. The rough cycle is as follows, though there are exceptions: - Screen to show what day it is - Bell rings - Wake up announcement - Dialogue after waking up - [Story events / Free time] - Bell rings - Sleep announcement - Dialogue before sleeping Doesn't sound like much until you see it every day in every route. Sometimes you get to skip days for plot reasons. Combat The combat system is a classic turn-based tactics RPG, with each battle split into several waves. With the amount of repetitive battles, you do get the urge to start cheesing them by just spamming Desperation Potions and free finishers. The game makes it too easy by reviving your characters the very next wave after their death. By rewarding you for killing off your characters, you can just play recklessly. For a tactics game, you really only need one tactic for almost every battle. Once you have completed a battle in one route, you can skip the similar ones in the other routes thankfully. The skip system still makes you go through all the dialogue every wave, which can get tedious if you're binging the game endings due to the repetition. Outside of combat, you can power your characters up during your free time via 1. Mock combat in the training room (because we need even more battles?) 2. Raising school grades 3. Farm resources during exploration (strengthens tools) Defeating bosses will let you strengthen your finisher for a particular character. This makes sense with the multiple story routes as you will be revisiting the same bosses many times. However, not every boss battle will provide you with the opportunity so don't expect to max out every character's finisher after completing the game in its entirety. Unless of course you cheese it by revisiting the boss battles over and over. Exploration During your free time segments, you can explore the school's surroundings via a board game system akin to Monopoly. Roll a die, stop on a tile, trigger event. This lets you earn resources that will help you build up your relations with the other characters to view Bonding Events. As far as I remember, these do not strengthen the characters, it is purely for lore. The resources will also let you upgrade your potions and traps for combat. You can skip most of the mandatory story exploration missions after clearing the map once. Story (Relatively Spoiler-free) I loved the story in the first playthrough. Everything felt fresh and new. The first ending leading up to you replaying the game also made enough sense story-wise that you most definitely will start another run. There are just a few routes which provide the missing lore to tie up loose ends. I wish I stumbled upon them earlier, but it took me over 40 endings before I reached them. Some routes felt like they didn't respect the players' time. Namely the Conspiracy Route which had potential but terrible execution, and the Serial Battles Route which just felt like a lazy reuse of content. Perhaps some of them were endings made just to pad the game to sell the 100 endings gimmick. Some routes also have the decision point at questionable moments. It could be at the 4th wave of a battle, making you have to go through three waves of dialogue even if you have skipped the battle just to reach the point where you can attempt another branch. Unfortunately there are still unanswered questions in the story which I really did not expect after going through 100 different endings.
As a danganronopa veteran and Fire Emblem enjoyer this was the game I never knew I needed. On paper a game that combines elements of visual novels with turn based strategy which works well in theory but being able to pull off a story as convuluted as this at this scale (100+ hours of gameplay) is insane. If you love the writing of Danganronpa and enjoy RPGs this game is worth it, there's so much content to keep you going for weeks on end. I wasn't as big of a fan of
some of the routes this game had to offer such as the comedy routes. They felt like filler content more than anything. But the routes they actually took their time on were amazing and lets each player unravel the mystery of what's really going on differently.
Decent. Can get extremely repetitive sometimes, but most of the choices are engaging and a genuine challenge to choose.
My life feels so empty now that I've finished this game. I need 100 more endings..........
