I don't know how much time has passed, but I remember when I was little and I struggled to beat THE HOUSE OF THE DEAD 2. When I saw that the remake of the first part came out, I was already waiting for the second one anyway. It's my childhood memory, I finished the remake in just 40 minutes, really fast on my first try. That just shows I still remember this game perfectly after so many years. Was it worth it? I'll say this much: if someone played the old version, they'll like this one too. Miauk.
Beleuchtung, Ragdolls und overall House of the Dead feeling passen jetzt für mich.
i loved this game in the arcade. i love the remake of the first one was great, but this one is not great i got to the final boss and no matter what I did I even thought I forgot how to beat it so I looked it up but nothing I did worked
Before I begin, I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ love the HOTD series and I would die for this ♥♥♥♥, so if you're expecting an elitist, snob, or some IGN type review, get ♥♥♥♥♥♥. Anything you read from here on is from a place of love for this series. Everything you love about the original arcade version of HOTD2; get ready for it to be laid sideways for some awkward, first time intercourse. I played this game for just under an hour and honestly, I love it. The House of the Dead series is, I would consider a staple to the rail shooter genre, and Sega. First, lets talk about the elephant that has always been in the room, the voice acting. In the arcade port, its always been noted by any player, new or old, that the voice acting is hilarious. In the arcade port the bad voice acting is consistent, that's why it gets its notoriety paired with being an actually very well made rail shooter experience, even if it has the flaws of a quarter robber. The remaster on the other hand is a spectrum similar to autism; it seems there was a variety of actors and actresses, consisting of 2-4 people, who either knew what they were doing, or were just taking a piss (some voices are pitched up or down, similar to original LULZ). 9/10 Second, the animations: I would say for the arcade port of House of the Dead 2, the choppy, almost elastic animations would be expected, almost compliments the hardware of the time. The remaster does something similar with how the game is made in Unity and Fmod. I would like to restate from the start of this review that everything I say here comes from a place of love for the series, but a couple models can look buttery (ex. Gmans headquarters), and the animations look kinda goofy, lastly some of these human models are kinda ass. The consensus of this paragraph is the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of the animations and models compliments the engines or softwares and HOTD itself. 5/10 Now I will look into some more flaws, this part might seem lazy its because I am drunk, stoned, and home from third shift. One thing I noticed from the start, other than everything else before mentioned, was that some voice lines and sound effects can have some odd cut offs, I am curious if someone had an oscillating fan running during sound recording. 4/10 cuz c'mon. While in this paragraph I will also talk about some of the cheapness in the difficulty, which honestly I don't care much about, because if you've been playing this long enough, the average gameplay should be like 20 minutes till completion (lul), but also should be expected from railshooters of any kind. 5/10 ALSO, WHAT THE HELL IS UP WITH DOUG DIMMADOME GOLDMAN? I got this and the first HOTD remaster on sale for 16 bucks in a bundle, but I honestly wouldn't advise paying full price. I think even if you are a HOTD connoisseur, get it when its on sale, cuz you wont be getting much other than maybe an hour till you decide to come back another day, week, month, or year. FINAL REVIEW SCORE 8/10 This game is kinda balls lmaoooo but I really love this port for that, and I think the goofiness is perfect for an on-sale price.
First remake was kinda okay? Second one feels meh... I know arcade games are meant to be really short but the price for $24.99 is not worth it. I bought this when it was on sale for $11.72 then saw another review saying they got the game for under $3 so I decided to refund and wait for a much better price. Nice try trying to scam me fool! Funny thing is you can get The Typing of The Dead: Overkill for almost at a similar price (or even less when it’s on sale) and have a longer and much better experience!
This one sucks balls, MAJORLY. Somehow plays worser than the first remake which is funny. I think music's fine, a bit too rock heavy, which is weird since the OG tracks are more electronic. Still, found it jarring they didn't do remixes for ALL the tracks since CH05's theme (Dawn) is NOT remixed. (Which, ya know what, good. The best Dawn remix is the one in HOD4 and nothing can top that.) Bosses are a bit difficult, which, a good challenge but also a damn slogfest. Zombies sometimes NEVER react to getting shot at, which let them able to get 1 free hit on me. I find that super annoying. Again, I have no idea how they fumbled this one despite having everything worked really well for HOTD1 Remake. Also, WHY IS EVERYONE'S FROM THE SOUTH? THEY GOT THAT GODDANG YEEHAW ACCENT? I THOUGHT WE'RE IN VENICE??? But yea, Not recommended, even in short bursts. Save your money. Go get HOTD1 Remake instead. It plays better and it's cheaper. Go find the original HOTD2 game, heck even Typing Of The Dead (the OG one) too. This game's a landfill waste.
