This game is probably the only game in my steam library that is literally unplayable. There is no way to progress in this game at all. When you run out of matches, candles, and light sources, which if you have even a cursory interest in exploring the levels you will, and very fast, the game is effectively over. Your options are to either memorize where the candles/matches/lamps are, or stumble around watching an entirely black screen. There is no way to see in this game without a light source, at all, so running out of light is effectively the end of the game. Turning up the brightness on your monitor does nothing, as the game's darkness is just a flat black screen with no detail whatsoever for the brightness to accentuate. The game's titular house is HUGE, so even if you do find all the light sources through sheer trial and error and memorization, you will be forced to backtrack through areas without any new light sources and will, guaranteed, run out of light and the game will be essentially over. I have yet to get to a part with any combat, though the screenshots make it seem like there is some. I wouldn't know, I've only made it half an hour in before I simply could not find a single other light source in the whole house. And again, the game is absolutely 100% over once you run out of light, as you can see absolutely nothing but what might as well be a flat black .jpg in front of your screen. Light sources drain at around a percentage point a second, and the light pickups you find will never give you more than a handful of percentage points of increase anyways. Lighting the ambient stationary lamps, sort of like what Amnesia has with tinderboxes, is glitched and broken. Even though the lamps do turn on, they don't actually cast any light on anything, making them totally useless for actually being able to see and get around. The opening cutscene is a laggy mess with typos galore, you can't re-bind key settings, there's no story from what I can tell, and the jump-scares may well be horrifying, but you'll never find out, as you'll never be able to see them. This game is, no exaggeration, a black screen simulator. Don't buy this, don't even buy this as a gift. For that get Bad Rats, Desert Gunner, if you can find it Air Control. Those are bad in a funny way. This isn't funny, it isn't even a mess, it's simply rendered impossible by the developer forgetting that not everyone that plays the game is him, and as such won't be able to make a beeline for every single light source. This game needs some manner of night vision, or at least some way to make out small details in the dark, or simply making your light sources dim once you run out of light. But it doesn't, and it probably won't, so as such, it's unplayable garbage and a total waste of what little money it costs.
♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. What to say about this game that a video doesn't show.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8sqOigL9Wfg This game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ awful. The dark is dark for darkness sake. The chair are violent and obstructive. The Arse is poisonous. The english is fan-♥♥♥♥♥♥♥-tastic. I laughed my ass off and got to sing wooly bully. 10/10.
Played this game the moment it was released. I streamed it. The Developer tuned in. Guided me through a little, but not too much. Followed Me. Added me on Steam. Patiently answered ALL of my questions. Gave me a free copy to his next game. (Lost in a Forrest) - I think he is trying to buy my love.. is it working!? YES!! <3
Well, the game idea is really interesting, but the developer was unable. The result is a game containing bugs and other glitches. My rating is 3.5 of 5
Managed four minutes of play time, then I was already creeped out enough to alt-f4 it. Not sure why this game has such terrible reviews, 'cause the way I see it we're given exactly what we want: an alternative to physical laxatives. Best €1 ever spent!
Ignoring the bad English in the game, In the span of two hours I managed to: Toss a cabinet down a hallway and a flight of stairs like it was nothing. Get on top of various furniture when there's no jump command. Surf across a room on a table. Walk through several bookcases and shelves. Throw a table through a wall. Twice. Find some bowls/containers that had no texture on the inside and became invisible from certain angles. Take a painting off a wall and watch it turn into a metronome before it launched into the unknown. Carry a punching bag, while it was still attached to the ceiling, all the way to the beginning of the house and launch it into the ceiling. Clip through a wall by accident, then watch my character's arms warp and twist into some kind of H.P. Lovecraft monster before the lighting broke and I had to restart. For a laugh, this game is great. For scariness, it's pretty bad. I found some of the (frequently reused) pop scares just by typing "scary face" into Google image search.
The vast majority of all negative reviews for this game come from people who never even made it to the interesting part of the game. The game isn't just about walking around a dark house and finding items and cheap scares along the way. It is only just that for the first part of the game, but once you progress far enough that enemies start appearing, which can kill you, then the scare factor and lack of lighting really plays a integral role in the survival horror aspect of this game. I just made it to that part and got killed while in complete darkness, and man was my heart pounding! I have definitely played enough of this game already to know that I will want to return to it and see if I can actually manage to beat it!
I've played for what feels like hours. This is the worst game I've ever played, and who ever made it should really reconsider having this on Steam. I've checked the channel of the Dev's of who ever made this, and it seems to be just them PLAYING THE GAME THIS IS OBVISIOULSY A RIP OFF OF. 10/10 would play 10 minutes of again.
Not bad
