It could have been a nice cosy game, but instead it is a slow game where you have to wait for the next quest before you can move forward, because if you do move forward independently, when you eventually get a quest for something you have already researched, you won't be able to finish the quest and therefore will be stuck and will have to restart the game.
Boring and Buggy Casual Game

What this game is:
It is a casual resources management game with a sort of Halloween theme.
How does it work?
You have to build your village, unblocking different zones on the map in order to get some resources. You get villagers, buildings with uses (houses, circus, trading post, mines, farms, etc.), and treasures that will provide money. You need different combinations of gold, resources of various types (wood, stone, ore, fruits, crystals, etc.) to build your village units, so you have to accumulate all these resources in your warehouses. You are micro managing your villagers in order to get more resources, and get requests that will provide you with some bonuses upon completion.
How does it perform?
The game is easy to play but is not very clear on how you do some things. You can finish it by maxing all buildings and getting all villagers, but some requests are impossible to fulfill because the resources you need may not have appeared in your game. In fact this game is buggy: you can get until the end of it without ever seeing some resources you might need (e.g. bush meats and other stuff that may or may not appear during your play).
The good points:
Simple game. It requires 560 MB on your HD, and will run on a 10 years old PC. Depending on your playstyle and patience, you should get between 3 and 6 hours of play. There are Steam Trading Cards.
The bad points:
There are bugs that are ennoying and will not allow you to finish some requests. The story is boring, there is no real end to it once you've maxxed all buildings and resources.
My take on this:
This game is barely OK. In spite of the bugs you can still play it. You should be buying this game only when it is for sale, which is bound to happen from time to time, specially if you want the Steam Trading Cards. Otherwise, stay away, it it neither very entertaining nor fulfilling to play it. It is essentially a boring time killer.
The Magic Alter is almost always bugged. I have made 5 games, still bugged and can't get past it. Edit: After around 10 restarts, finally got past it. It is one of the intro quests, and incredibly bugged. Entire runs can just be stops because the alter doesn't activate. Borderline non existent story, character glitching across the world, no map, and horrid key mapping. Little to no replay ability, no actual resource management, janky, stilted dialogue. Don't bother unless you get it for free.
It's a no brainer game and I bought it when I was really tired but wanted something to do. It's not a time management game, it's not even really a city builder. The characters are cute. But beyond that it has nothing else to offer.
I am 32 years old. My ex-wife and I have a daughter together, and we adopted our son together. Both are now 4 years old. When we were going through our separation, I felt lost and unhappy. I was self-destructive. One day, I was so angry with everything spiraling out of control that I punched a concrete wall in a moment of overwhelming emotion. This resulted in breaking my fifth metacarpal in my right hand—the hand I worked with, played games with, and used to carry my children to bed—the hand I desperately needed to ensure I could continue providing. Upon learning the severity of the self-inflicted damage, I became almost suicidal. Keep in mind that just a few months before this, I was the happiest man, with no history of depression or anxiety. I had never experienced anger outbursts, nor was I the type to break down and cry, but I was in a tough situation that truly prevented me from seeing the light on the other side. With nothing better to do, I looked for a game I could play WITH ONE HAND while recovering. Somehow, I stumbled upon this game and read some of the comments. I decided it was worth a try... I must admit I didn't beat the game, nor did I play as much as some of you. In fact, I may have played this game for only a day or two. That being said, after doing so, I had a new joy and hope for life. I managed to leave behind the pain and suffering that had been thrust upon me. I could experience the joy and happiness of other people. I relaxed for 5 ♥♥♥♥ minutes listening to this music, long enough to realize that I would be okay. After realizing this, I turned off the game and went back to work. My hand hurt a lot, but I was motivated. I stopped feeling so sorry for myself and became the father I needed to be at that moment, not the weak boy I was behaving like. Today, I am close friends with the mother of my children. We don't fight, argue, or say hurtful things to each other. We are parents and friends. Now I have 3 children. My third child is, wait, ALSO 4 YEARS OLD. The woman I am with was going through a very similar situation at the time of my separation, and we just unexpectedly stumbled into each other's lives. We have been dating for a year and are very happy together. Moral of the story: you never know what life has in store for you, and if I had given up when all odds were against me, I wouldn't be where I am today. This silly little game helped me realize that. Thank you.
