The Great Gaias

Очень рекомендую тем, кто любит игры типа Final Fantasy. Сеттинг - напоминает DnD, что лично мне большой плюс. Если коротко: + Очень длинная, но увлекательная. Думаю часов на 100, если выполнить все квесты + Интересный сюжет, эпичность (насколько ее можно чувствовать от игр на движке РПГ мейкер) + Глубокий крафт + Хорошие спрайты персонажей в бою + Много побочных квестов - Скучный левел дизайн, особенно скалы - игры-"соседи" нередко дают и более интересную и в принципе более хорошую прорисовку - Много гринда, потому что надо прокачать всю команду. Конечно, есть способы и места быстро прокачать всех героев, но до этого можно не догадаться Если обобщить, то я считаю, что это одна из лучших jrpg, которую я играл (а играл немало), но я понимаю, что она вряд ли придется каждому по вкусу. Просто поиграть - думаю, стоит

great storyline , puzzle and quest one of the best game i have ever play and thanks to the developer and firefly which help me alot to get through some of those frustrating quest. i highly recommend this game! and am looking forward to their new game ie soon to come

If you enjoyed classic console games from the 80s, this definitely fits the bill for a trip down nostalgia lane. The game is quite meaty--took me 71 or so hours of in-game time to see just about everything. There were a lot of challenging boss fights. The game allows for grinding to counter some of the challenge, but for the most part I didn't do that, so many boss fights took a number of attempts to "get it right." The writing overall was a notch above typical RPG Maker fare--the designers attempted to weave a reasonably serious storyline, and I'll credit them with just how detailed it becomes--it's a very fleshed out history spanning a millenium, at least. Lots of hand-designed, well thought out places to explore. If you can appreciate a game for it being a labor of love, this is worth the time, overall. The game was challenging at times--I checked out the forum a few times when I got stuck for too long. Some negatives: a few sequences without saves later in the game that can be a little frustrating on your time (if you play like I do, and don't over-grind to over-prepare), combat animations are a bit slow and unskippable). Overall, a good game, significantly better than most RPGMaker content I've played.

If it wasn't for chapter 2 I would say this is probably the greatest JRPG style game ever made. Chapter 1 is a good start. Chapter 2 is long and the pacing is off with too much introduced. Chapter 3, 4, 5, and 6 are all amazing.

It has you early on kill a child in cold blood. Not for me, and the main characters reaction is just… this isn’t a story I want to watch unfold.

If you are a fan of old-style RPGs, this is one of the best examples of what RPG Maker can do. Although the story is a bit tropey, the writing in The Great Gaias is excellent, and every aspect of the game shows a great amount of love and care from the developers. [*]Interesting speed-based combat system that rewards smart gearing and party synergies. [*]Spritework is lovely, every character has unique idle/injured/retreat/etc. animations. [*]Length is great; even without going Achievement-hunting (Over 200), you will get your money's worth. [*]Music design is very memorable and fits the world very well. [*]Fantastic number of sidequests and optional content to complete that helps flesh out the world and reward you for exploring. [/list] [b]Cons[/b] [list] [*]The Collectible item hunt, Celestium Shards, are nearly impossible to collect them all without a dedicated guide. Could benefit from an endgame "Celestium Detector" or similar for endgame achievement hunting. After playing through and getting the 'perfect ending', I am still missing shards, and am not sure exactly where they might be. [*]Some party members feel outclassed in the endgame by others. Most (if not all) feel usable or strong early- and mid-game with absolutely no issues. But as you approach endgame, you may stick with just a few core party members, and characters outside your immediate party may fall far behind. [/list] [b]Other Notes[/b] [list] [*]This is definitely an RPG Maker game, and it leans hard on classic JRPG tropes, For fans of the genre, The Great Gaias is one of the best, but it does not break from the RPG Maker mold as some other heavily-scripted games may do. Expect a classic '4 party member' RPG that just oozes care and passion. [*]The developers are [b]incredibly[/b] helpful and attentive on the Discussion forums. Five years after release, the developers still help answer questions, and recently added Steam Deck support. For players encountering a bug, they have even offered to be sent broken save files, and usually produce a fix within a few days. For a game released in 2018, that should speak volumes for the care the developers have. [*]The game can be quite difficult at a few points, and may require slight grinding on the Core difficulty. I personally love a challenge and don't mind a grind, but it's worth mentioning. The game does feature both a Normal and Easy difficulty as well to help alleviate this. [/list]

This game crashed 6 times tonight and then again when I had just killed a boss. Didn't even have a chance to save it. It crashes at least once a night but tonight was extra special. I am so po'd right now. NOT RECOMMENDED. EDIT: I continued to play the game offline. When the developers offered levels of play, I started the game over, offline. Because you're playing offline, you don't get the achievements that you've completed but overall the game is fun to play and offers a satisfying ending. I recommend the game because it now offers many many hours of play at the level you feel comfortable at.

Overall 5.5/10 Pros: nice characters, decent story, good combat system and skills Cons: platform puzzles, horrible quest tracking, too limited open world, 1990s graphics, frequent crashes I had to give up to the platform puzzle in ch4. Real playtime is around 20hours as I played mostly offline. I do not trust the developers with the sequel as they didnt even fix the crashes in 5 years.

A solid game at its core, but crashes the second you disconnect from the internet. As far as I know it has no online features so there is no reason for this. I will give a different opinion if this problem is fixed.
