About

Scavenge and fight for your next day alive under the shadow of gargantuan war machines. Enemies in the game can literally tower over the battlefield. To put it another way:

The battlefield is unpredictable thanks to The Forever Winter’s Dynamic Encounter system: enemies have their own goals and agendas, operating in coordinated groups, undertaking full-scale battles — and they’ll intelligently react to your actions. The battlefield you leave won’t be the same one you return to.
Use your wits, stealth, and skilled gunplay to make it out alive. Choose your path in the shadow of the two great superpowers, loot the dead, and make it out alive. While the warring factions may ignore you at first, the more disruptive you become to their goals, the more they'll seek to remove you from the equation.
Ecological collapse compounded by runaway technological advancement brought us here: a world choked by 40 years of industrial-scale violence between two military superpowers, unmerciful mass killing by AI automata, human-machine hybrids, and the bleak truth of human nature. There’s two sides to this war, and you’re not on either.

So a game that is COOP dosn't allow for friends to play together? I have now tried with two of my friends and only once did we manage to be able to play together. DEVS help us play this with friends. The game itself is awesome but being thrown out of a friends game and lose everything and then you cannot join him again.
A really cool premise but execution so far is not the best, might turn into a better product down the line but if you`re playing now you will probably be frustrated a lot and die a whole lot more.
Terrible gunplay, terrible performance. Unplayable.
I really want to like this game as the art direction, music, and story are amazing. Its clear from the updates the Dev's are trying, however the gameplay is straight up killing it for me. There is so many choices that just make the game clunky or frustrating, specifically with movement and weapons, where the Early Access piece shows. Plenty of just falling through the world, or AI teleporting behind you, or just mindless grinding for junk that wastes your time. I would not recommend to friends in this current state...
I tried, and I can't play it on my trashy little laptop, but I've been following this forever and I ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ love what you're trying to do. This will be the first game I buy when I get a real PC.
The Forever Winter is one of those rare games that makes you stop and think: "Yeah... I've never played anything quite like this before." The world, the lore, and the overall atmosphere are phenomenal. Every raid feels like you're just another survivor trying not to become tomorrow's loot pile, and that feeling never really gets old. The gameplay loop is incredibly satisfying, looting is rewarding, combat feels impactful, and the short- and mid-term progression always gives you something to work toward. That said, there are still some rough edges. The long-term progression could use more depth and have a bigger impact on the overall experience. Movement still feels a little stiff at times, and vaulting over objects is... let's say, more of a suggestion than a feature on certain days. Combat is already incredibly juicy, but balancing still needs work. The same goes for loot. If I somehow manage to wipe an entire five-man squad, I secretly hope for something a little more exciting than 5 bottles of vodka and 5 bandages. My scavenger deserves better than becoming the world's most prepared field medic with a drinking problem. I'm deliberately not judging the graphics, animations, or AI too harshly. This is an Early Access game, and it's obvious that FUN DOG knows there's still work to be done. Final Thoughts This game feels like a rough diamond. Even in its current state, it's an unforgettable experience unlike anything else on the market. If the developers continue on this path over the next 2–4 years, I genuinely believe this could become something truly special. More importantly, I can actually feel the passion the team is putting into this project. Instead of simply waiting for updates, it feels like I'm part of the journey—and that's a pretty special feeling. Keep cooking, FUN DOG. I'm excited to see where this war takes us.
