I've done several playthroughs so far and have greatly enjoyed this game. The characters are very good, the story is extremely ominous and intriguing, and the character customization is implemented very naturally, all of which can make this game very immersive. Most negative reviews on this game say that the skill checks can be very punishing and unfair, and while I have been punished hard by some skill checks while playing, which can be frustrating and annoying, this has not been a common experience for me. I kept an eye on my stats and stayed mostly consistent in my choices which made it so I rarely found myself picking a choice and being punished for having low stats, most skill based options are very obvious in what skills are involved, both for testing them and boosting them, so it's relatively easy to choose what stats you want to increase and notice what stat you need to complete a certain task. There are a some minor flaws the game has, I personally wish there was some sort of save and load option that you could unlock after completing a run to make it easier to repeat the game to get specific endings or achievements instead of having to repeat from the very beginning every single time since the game is decently long, but overall it's a great experience I highly recommend.
Great writing, good world building as well as well built characters and relationships. The mood and pacing is very well done, and while I'm not a huge fan of horror (I'm a scaredy cat), I can appreciate when it's done well. The mysteries and plot points are interesting in their own right alongside The Big Plot, and you can explore different branches across playthroughs. Stat management IS tricky as some negative reviews mention, and you sometimes fail things unexpectedly, but the writing is good enough in pulling it off that I actually had the desire to try and replay and try to optimize it so I can do everything (or mess up everything). Plus points for polyamory and the customization possible on how you tackle romance - you can define at any point how you'd like to experience the romance options (or not). Gender options were pretty neat too, and the way you actually set up your character is much more naturally integrated into the story than most of these games. (Steam playtime isn't correct, I played it for probably around 8 hours across two playthroughs so far.)

A spooky story with mystery solving and focus on friendship. I really enjoyed it! I saw someone talking about failing stat checks too often, but I didn't have this issue - it's clear which stats affect different choices, so I guess it helps to focus on some of them and not try to raise every single one. (My character had only high Booksmarts and Perception and average Agility and Toughness and I got good ending. I avoided being average with other stats - it should help.) One playthrough took around 7 hours but it seems there are still many things to explore so I will definitely replay it sometime.
A game/book history using the choice your adventure concept. It is a mystery novel with some turns and surprises that fulfills literary, availability of choices and thrill all over. It is centered around a teen coming back to town after an obscure death of a ex-friend. The geographical background is an island near the coast where fishermen and lack of infrastructure is apparent. This is a good one and can recommended it if you like mystery books and good writing.
Of all the Choice of Games stories, this is the one that I keep coming back to. It's stunningly visual, with a strong cast of characters, and a seemingly endless amount of ways to save your friends, the town, and keep the roiling fog (and what's hidden inside of it) at bay. If I had any Hollywood power I'd option this as an HBO Max miniseries. Chilling, emotional, and a genuinely good time.

Incredible story with a diverse wealth of options, pathways, and endings! I am astounded by the amount of detail and consequence that each and every single choice holds. I feel as though I've never had the same path twice, and even as I've encountered endings that other players would consider "perfect" endings, I still feel like there's something, out there, that I haven't figured out. All in all, a 10/10 experience.
Very well-executed high school supernatural mystery. The characters are interesting and non-stereotypical yet still feel age and setting-appropriate. The plot and writing are REALLY good, and although the secret behind the fog
wasn't some massive surprise or anything, in my opinion at least,
the author did an excellent job of setting up the eerie and mysterious atmosphere, creating a tangible sense of unease that kept increasing as the story's events unfolded, and just generally did a great job with the setting and pacing to really pull you in. It delivered what you'd crave from any classic of its genre while still being original enough, it had quite an array of endings and variables to make it very much worth replaying, and was just an all around great, fun, spooky time. There's some romance in there too, though I'd say it's the least interesting part of the story for me. It can be quite punishing with stat requirements for some choices, forcing you to make difficult compromises and even possibly resort to a little min-maxing, but I feel this is not only warranted but necessary, as it is a supernatural mystery with some horror undertones. If it was more forgiving, it would have undermined the eeriness and sense of danger. All in all, an awesome read, I wish there were more like it.
