The Far Kingdoms: Awakening Solitaire

An extremely easy and extraordinarily beautiful solitaire game. That's not to say that many of the hands aren't challenging. However, you can access the shop during play and buy any amount of power-ups you want. If you have the money, you can literally play joker after joker to beat each hand. There are quite a few different choices in the shop (all "power-ups" that you use immediately upon purchasing) and they are CHEAP. Jokers are 7 gold and the most expensive ones are 15 gold. And it's easy to earn money each hand. Especially if you use jokers because combos earn good cash. I believe I had around 800 gold at the end of the game and I used jokers on a regular basis. The reason to play this game then? Because, as I said, it's gorgeous. Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous. Plus, you don't have to visit the store all the time. You can make the game more challenging for yourself. Or play it like I did and just have a relaxing time with lovely music to boot. There's a story but it's simplistic and I didn't pay much attention to it. I DID have a lot of fun so that's why I'm writing this review and giving this game a thumbs-up. :)

Un solitaire basique mais pas déplaisant ! Simple et efficace : 120 niveaux accessibles pour une durée de vie d’environ 4h. Une trame scénarisée joliment mise en valeur : il vous faudra répondre aux exigences de vos compagnons en collectant des objets de quête, cachés sous un tas de carte, afin de sortir votre sœur, la princesse, d’un profond sommeil. Musique d’ambiance immersive, une map attirante, différents choix de fonds de cartes, plusieurs modes de difficulté (relax et chrono), des bonus variés et utiles qui ont du sens et un système de monnaie bien dosé. On en fait vite le tour mais il a du charme. Ni bug ni succès steam. A acquérir en promo.

After playing "Zombie Solitaire" I saw this game in a bundle and I bought the game bundle solely for this game. I will admit, the game looks nice but it isn't fair whatsoever and it reminds me more of a "Facebook" (money grubbing) like game than a fair and relaxing one. The game does offer some fun, but I truly hope you use a RAMcheat like "POKE" so you can award yourself infinite coins as this game truly is not fair...whatsoever and without it, you won't even see the half of the game. It isn't just the lack of drawing cards that you can get (Zombie Solitaire would at least offer you a way to redraw used cards, this game...nope) but the cards you do draw will almost certainly not be a card you need. Like if you need a "J", you will then pull a "2", then "7" and then a "2" followed by yet another "2". Even with the laws of probability, that shouldn't happen nearly as much as it does. The amount of map that is locked either by chains, vines or boulders is a bit much and isn't fun. But the absolute worst 'theme' is having the map almost locked and you need to get a single card several times to go on as there isn't another path to go on other than one way...and mysteriously you pretty much need to clean the map to move on I cannot stress this enough, THIS GAME IS NOT FAIR WHATSOEVER. What a laughable game... It has a decent soundtrack, and okay background graphics, but what really matters is totally screwed up. There is no tutorial to begin with -- they probably assumed this wouldn't be our first Pyramid Solitaire clone. Okay. Not good, especially since a few details differ from other games. So you end up buying multiple jokers, forgetting that anything you buy is immediately dealt, rather than stored. And the game won't even stop you from deal a joker on top of another joker. That's the first evidence that the developers didn't test their game at all. The card faces are beautiful, but they're so distracting that they decided to hide them in a 'pause menu' option. Okay. Well, the numbers-only faces are easier to play with, but... Really? Times New Roman all over the place? Did they develop it in the 80s? What else? The story is ridiculous. There is no difficulty curve-- depending on your luck, you'll get a draw that leaves you with extra cards at the end, or another that requires buying ten jokers in a row. In average you'll need about 10 coins to pass every level, so expect having to replay them a lot. Or just use Cheat Engine to give yourself a thousand gold, it's easy and the game doesn't deserve our effort really. In fact, there's such a lack of attention to detail, that when you deal a new card and there's an unused action card on the board (sword or hammer), it'll move as if you'd "forgotten" to use it, _even if there are no special cards to be removed anywhere_. It happens nearly every other game, and it's really annoying. I gave up after I spent 4 levels shown to be on the 'sea', and suddenly on the 5th one the background actually changed to that of a sea level. If you want to have a map showing up our progress, maybe make sure it matches the story you're telling us..?

the 10th entry in the far kingdom series of puzzle games (hidden object, match-3, solitaire, etc.), the 5th solitaire and the 4th game I played, only being interested in the card games. consistency is not the developer's strong suit and skipping half the games certainly doesn't help the narrative, but the fortune teller's back with her magic cards to help remove the curse from your sleeping sister. you'll visit many locations and meet numerous characters who will make you do one fetch quest after the other. the usual +1/-1 gameplay with [b]114 levels[/b], the 3-star rating is determined by the number of cards left on the board. cards behind combo locks are back, my least favorite thing, and weirdly, [b]every power-up is unlocked from the start and they're not that pricey[/b]. I had 200+ coins by level 7, the cheapest power-up is 5 gold, the most expensive 15. this also means there are [b]no permanent unlocks[/b], +1 undo has to be bought for every level you want to use it on, etc. you can farm coins by replaying levels as well. in the main menu there are volume sliders, windowed mode, widescreen toggle (unticking it still stretches the game to fill the entire screen if you're in full screen), custom cursor, and in the pause menu [b]you can enable a timer[/b], set the current background as wallpaper, and customize the cards. really nice artwork and relaxing music, as expected from a game like this, and there are story bits before almost every level. should take [b]about 5 hours to complete, more if you don't use too many helpers[/b], and it's just as recommendable as other decent solitaires, with some tricky layouts here and there.

Карточная игра - набор пасьянсов типа солитёр последовательного прохождения. В принципе, стандартный для такого типа игр, но вполне добротный. Прохождение связано... как бы выразиться... На сюжет это, конечно не тянет, но каким-то описательным текстом, типа: "Добрый путник, помоги! Я потерял свои яйца и теперь мне нечего чесать. Найди их, пожалуйста, а то скучно." Так что, "сюжет" далёкого королевства прост как и везде, вам придётся искать потерянное для всяких оборванцев, которым лень сделать это самим. Разбираем пасьянс, под картами находим заданные предметы и вуаля! Предыдущий проситель сменяется новым. Кроме вещей, как водится, находите золотишко, на которое можно покупать разовые бонусы для разбора пасьянса. И как обычно, если вы переигрываете уровень, добытые в предыдущей попытке деньги и предметы на ваш счёт не добавляются, зато потраченное на покупку бонусов не возвращается. Кто-то когда-то придумал эту не справедливую схему и теперь она тиражируется из игры в игру. Конечно же вы встретите стандартные препоны в виде заблокированных карт, разблокировать которые надо при помощи разных дополнительных мутных действий. Всё стандартно. Сопроводительная музычка не напрягает, графика приемлемая, хоть и не супер, русской локализации нет.
