Adorable meals served with a side of “that doesn’t count”
I went in fully expecting this to become my cozy food-game comfort blanket for the night, the kind that pairs well with tea and low expectations. Instead, I got a mix of charm, confusion, and a surprising amount of brute-force thinking. There’s a lot of potential here, genuinely, but in its current state it trips over its own cuteness and lands squarely in frustrating territory, especially for players who enjoy creative freedom in cozy games. The art style is adorable and the overall vibe is soft and pleasant, backed by music that fits the mood even if it loops a bit too much. Controls are simple and intuitive, meals are varied, and most levels leave room to experiment, at least early on. I also appreciated the in-game dictionary accessible via the question mark, which lists all meals by name. It’s not a hint system, but it’s useful and thoughtfully included. For the first half of the game, everything feels relaxed, welcoming, and promising. Then the cracks start to show. From around level 38 onward, translation and wording issues become a real problem. Meals that perfectly match the written request are sometimes rejected for baffling reasons. Rice crackers not counting as rice-based food, omurice not being considered Japanese, specific yogurts being accepted while others aren’t, shelled nuts refusing to behave like nuts…it turns trial-and-error into the core mechanic, which is, from my point of view, a cozy game cardinal sin. When creative solutions are punished instead of rewarded, the whole experience stiffens up fast if you're the type that thinks out of the box. There are also some rough usability elements: the cursor can randomly disappear while scrolling ingredients, brightness options are missing despite the game being visually busy, and skipping levels is oddly clunky since you have to bounce through the main menu. While you can technically play levels in any order, there’s no in-game way to track completion outside of Steam achievements, which makes progression feel oddly unstructured the second you skip a single level and forget which one. At the moment, there’s no real difficulty across the 50 available levels, though the menu promises future additions like dual lunchboxes and more content. If those updates come alongside clearer English language and better-defined rules, this could easily become a delightful little snack-sized cozy game. Right now, the low price softens the blow, but vague instructions and inconsistent logic keep it from being the relaxing experience it wants to be. I'll be happy to update this review if the appropriate changes are made. Can't wait to see if this potential gem will get the polishing it deserves. This is a sweet and simple game that is best savoured in small bites, there is no need to binge. It is repetitve but relaxingly so. You can just shut your mind off and enjoy the tasty treats. If you are a foodie and enjoy puzzles, for the price you cannot go wrong!! On the start up menu, it even eludes to more content being added in future. As of now, there are 50 puzzles to complete (probably about an hour or so of content). Very cute concept, wide variety of packed lunch options and beautiful art. The puzzles are very light. Customer tells you what they want, and you assemble a little lunch box to go based on their appetites. This is the perfect game to gently wake your brain up in the morning between sips of coffee and nibbles ^_^ Update: Just finished the game and completed the 51 achievements. Super easy to obtain for completionists!! A couple of them I had to do over because they didn't register, so a little buggy there. Some of the puzzles towards the end were a bit vague but that didn't bother me too much. For the price, this is still a bargain in my eyes. Also worth noting that the dev's have already put out a patch fixing some of the complaints.
Rating: ★ ★ ★ ★ ☆
FOOOOOOD!!! Yes, I LOVE it! That’s TL;DR. Okay, now. I love food games because they’re usually colorful, cute, and unfairly appetizing. (Why does game/anime food look better than real life?) And I also love puzzles, so I went into it expecting a proper “puzzle puzzle”. What I got instead was a cozy and relaxing game. You receive a request on a little note and you organize the lunchbox: foods + sweets/desserts go inside the bento box, snacks are side dishes, and drinks go in the drink slot. If you read the request, you can understand what they want. It’s very simple. Aaaaaand very short. I cleared the 50 levels in under an hour and I didn’t even see it happening. It was all “one more level", "one more request", "more cute food", "organize this", "pick that”, "oh, I already used this one, let's try another one" … and suddenly there were no levels left. One feature I missed was having tags/labels on the items to identify categories faster. That said, I saw the devs mention they intentionally kept it more open so players can try possibilities without stress, and to be honest? Fair. It just means you’ll be experimenting more than optimizing. You’re supposed to play to relax!!!! Bonus points: it ran smoothly on my potato chips laptop. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3659601990 If you like cute food and the calm organizing style of inBento or A Little to the Left, you’ll probably enjoy this one too. Just go in expecting a relaxing snack rather than a challenging puzzle feast. -- 𖹭 Click here 𖹭 to understand the star rating.
Really cute and relaxing game ♡ You pack lunchboxes based on little hints from customers, and while the gameplay is simple, it’s honestly really cozy. The art style is adorable and the whole game has a very calming vibe. It can get a little repetitive after some time, but I still enjoyed it as a casual game to play while unwinding. Some orders also made me think a bit more than I expected, which was fun. Definitely recommend it if you like cozy food games or easy puzzle games, especially if you grab it on sale ⸜(。˃ ᵕ ˂ )⸝ 🍰 ⋆。˚ https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3719112949

Pack my Lunchbox is a cute puzzle game where you assemble lunches based on customers' preferences or hints. The artwork is vibrant and cartoony with 50 levels to explore. Coming soon are more levels with new foods and double lunchboxes to amp up the challenge. The first 25 levels are pretty easy with you only needing to fill the main lunchbox. Level 26 is when the extra additions such as a drink and snack are added to round out a larger meal. There are some foods labelled wrong such as vanilla cupcakes appearing twice (once on the actual vanilla cupcakes and again on a strawberry squared dessert). Also hard cheese should probably be labelled swiss cheese. If you're stuck there are guides available to help. Personally I found a couple levels to be a guessing game but not hard enough to keep me stuck for long. It was more about having to choose a specific item the customer was looking for out of the lists. The price is on point as this game is fairly short as I completed it in just over an hour and is quite easy overall so I look forward to the new levels coming that hopefully offer more of a challenge. 🍣

Follow IndieGems for more reviews like this one. Pack my LunchBox is a cozy puzzle game about assembling bento boxes. Each level presents a short note describing a customer’s cravings, and your task is to choose a combination of main dishes, desserts, drinks, and snacks that satisfy those preferences. The game contains 50 levels with a steady difficulty curve. The first 25 combine only main courses and desserts, allowing more flexibility in what qualifies as a correct solution. The latter half introduces snacks and drinks, significantly narrowing the valid combinations and making the puzzles more restrictive. Furthermore, the developers announced their plans on adding 20 more levels, which will feature a brand new mechanic: a double lunchbox. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3655643335 For the most part, the customer notes are clear and easy to interpret, especially in the first half of the game. With only two dishes to select, these early levels leave plenty of room for experimentation. In the second half, the notes become slightly more vague. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3655643219 To help players identify dishes, the game includes a compendium of food items that displays each dish’s name together with its picture. While this doesn’t explicitly list ingredients, most can be reasonably deduced from the item names themselves. This addition makes it easier to distinguish between similar-looking foods, such as different meat cuts or pies, and reduces the amount of blind trial and error required. For those that might need help solving a certain level, a guide that shows one valid solution (out of many) for each level is available. Fortunately, such problematic moments are rare. I found myself seriously stuck on only five levels. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3655643246 Pack my LunchBox is thoroughly charming. The food art is gorgeous and genuinely appetizing—enough to make you drool over them even on a full stomach. With a wide variety of dishes to sift through and a short playtime (under 90 minutes), Pack my LunchBox is a pleasant, bite-sized experience. If you’re curious, the 5-level demo is worth checking out, as four of its levels are exclusive and don't appear in the full game.
Eh.. it's okay.. it definitely has more potential if there are future updates, right now it feels like an early access game. It was a nice chill hour of organising lunchboxes. The artwork and concept is overall good and well thought-out, but it lacked too many other functions.. overall 4/10 for me. Thumbs up as I do recommend it when it is discounted.
It is a cozy puzzle game where you pack food into each lunchbox by following the customer's requests. Choose the right food and arrange everything correctly to clear each level. Some levels are easy, while others took me a few tries to solve. There are 50 levels in total. I even had to stop playing halfway to eat because the food looked so delicious and made me hungry. Overall, it’s a cozy and relaxing puzzle game with cute food, simple gameplay, and a fun idea.
