This is a great sequel. The first Evil Within really struggled with finding it's own identity, and you could really feel them throwing things at the wall to see what sticks. This game takes what works about that first game, and refines and expands upon it. This game is somehow tighter and larger than it's predecessor. There are also some really good additions. This game has some really well done open world segments that the first game could have used more of, as well as some additional characterization that was lacking in the first game. Tango Game Works got sold to Krafton in 2024, and this IP is stuck in Microsoft limbo. This may be the last we see of this franchise, which is a shame. The team that made this clearly understood what people wanted from this game, and I would have loved to see where Tango took this series.
