Lots of fun!
I may still think that morrowind is a better game in terms of gameplay and story/lore, but it's hard to deny how immaculate the presentation is in this game. Truly one of the best of all time.
What is there to say about Skyrim that hasn't already been said across fifteen years and what feels like every platform ever made including a refrigerator. At some point a game stops being a game and becomes a place, and Skyrim is that for a lot of people. The core of it holds up because it never really forced you into a singular experience. You can be the hero, the villain, the stealth archer that everyone jokes about defaulting to, a pacifist who talks their way through everything, or an evil wizard who moves into a tower and decides the rest of the world's problems are no longer their concern. The sandbox respects whatever story you want to tell inside it, and that flexibility is rarer than it sounds. The modding community is where the game transcends itself entirely. At this point there are mods that add hundreds of hours of new content, mods that overhaul every system in the game, mods that became their own standalone experiences, and yes, mods that will populate hot springs with naked NPCs if that's the direction you want to take your Thursday evening. The range of what people have built on top of this foundation over fifteen years is genuinely staggering and keeps the game relevant in a way that no amount of official re-releases could accomplish on their own. It's a generational game in the most literal sense. People who were not alive when it launched are now playing it and loving it, which is about as clear a statement of lasting quality as you can make about anything. The ultrawide support is inexcusable at this point though. Fifteen years, multiple re-releases, and you still need a mod to fix what should have been a checkbox in the settings menu.
It's just the best game ever lol. There isn't a single other game that I consistently come back to as often as I do Skyrim AND I tend to find something new that I've never seen before with every new character build. There isn't another game in history that's had me as hooked as Skyrim does.
Shut up, no one needs another review saying how good this game is and will forever continue to be.
