Very fun and classic and old school. one of the best all the time.

oblivion probably has the most epic storyline of all the elder scrolls even if the gameplay in the original is a clunk fest. i am so happy that we have a remaster now, now we get to experience the insanely epic oblivion story with modern graphics and smoother combat. but still despite all that, even if the remaster is better, the original is just so good its crazy. everyone should experience this rpg masterpiece at least once in their lifetime.

DO NOT buy this version of original Oblivion. Instead buy the "Oblivion GOTY *Deluxe* edition; which includes ALL DLC's, not just Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles. If you buy THIS version, and later want to buy to the Deluxe version, STEAM will NOT let you complete the purchase. Most modern modded lists, like those on Wabbajack, for original Oblivion use only the *DELUXE* GOTY version, not the GOTY version. Like an idiot I purchased the latter, and am now SOL, blocked by Steam from purchasing what I need.

What really gives Oblivion its identity is its NPC behavior and dialogue. Yes, it’s janky. Yes, it’s meme-worthy. But that unpredictability also makes the world feel strangely alive. Conversations can shift from serious fantasy drama to absolute absurdity in seconds, and somehow that becomes part of the charm. The guild questlines are still some of the best Bethesda has ever made. The Dark Brotherhood, Thieves Guild, and Mage’s Guild especially stand out with strong storytelling and memorable missions that often outshine the main quest. Combat and leveling, however, show their age. The scaling system can feel awkward, and encounters sometimes become more about stats than strategy. It’s functional, but not as refined as later entries in the series. Pros: Extremely immersive open world Fantastic guild questlines Tons of freedom and exploration Unintentionally hilarious NPC interactions Cons: Dated combat and leveling system Enemy scaling can feel inconsistent Some mechanics feel rough by modern standards Verdict: Oblivion is messy, charming, and unforgettable.
