About
A Pulp Adventure Thriller from the minds that brought you Peridium and Crawl.
An engrossing roller-coaster of a story- Drawing on King, Crichton and Carpenter, with a dash of 70s Aussie grindhouse.
Point 'n Click or Controller- Unique twin-stick controls make The Drifter as comfy to play on the couch as at your PC.
Bursting with raw crunchy pixel art and high-impact animation.
Professionally voice acted, with a brooding dark-synth cinematic score.
Mick Carter's been drifting a while now- moving from job to job, never staying one place long. Jumping a box-car to his old home town, he witnesses a violent murder, is pursued by hi-tech soldiers, thrown in a reservoir and drowned.
And that's just the start of Mick's problems.
His consciousness ripped away, thrust back into his own body seconds before his death...
Framed for the killing he witnessed, tormented by his own past, and haunted by the feeling that something followed him back from the other side...
Follow Mick as he's sucked headfirst into a lunatic web of shadowy corporations, murder, and the thousand-year obsession of a madman.
The Drifter is our take on a classic 2d point and click adventure, with the brake-lines cut. The focus is on fast-paced storytelling, with puzzle-solving being the glue that ties it together. Mick's a practical guy, and so puzzles are down-to-earth too, designed to be unobtrusive, and give an investigative feel.
We're keeping the pacing quick and lean, you'll never be wandering around lost or confused- Mick is propelled through the story at a good clip, from one situation to another, with barely a moment to catch his breath. One minute you'll be crafting a Molotov cocktail from a bottle of over-proof rum, the next interrogating a crooked neurosurgeon before swinging from a high-rise window by a fraying extension lead.

A great game, great story a classic point and click adventure game, reminded me of the good old adventure games f the 1990s.

I was hankering for a nostalgic point-and-click and this absolutely scratched that itch. Love this game. Great vibe, great story, great artwork. Play it.
This is the first point and click game I've played in a long time, and it didn't disappoint. Would definitely recommend.
One of the best recent adventure games. Great story and amazing pixel art.
Such a superb and unique point and click adventure game. I've been a massive fan of the genre since my Amiga days in the early 90s. This is without doubt one of the most intense, interesting, unpredictable and impactful adventure games I've ever played. It raised my heart rate whilst playing and left me thinking about it for weeks afterwards. It's gone straight into my favourites alongside Monkey Island and Thimbleweed Park even though it's totally different to both. Genius. Highly recommend.
10/10. Best modern point-and-click game I've ever played, and I've played a lot. Great puzzles, excellent writing, fantastic music, powerful voice acting. If you like adventure games, you will like this - period.
The Drifter is a masterclass in puzzle design, in understanding how evolving puzzle chains can make a world feel lived in and using puzzles as part of its storytelling; this is unusual in a genre whose puzzles are mostly remembered for being bad. I'm not crazy about the story it tells, but it's solid, and the storytelling is great; I especially love the restraint with which it sets up its various Chekhov's Guns. Great acting (for the most part), great art, great puzzles, great writing (even if I don't like some of its story), great soundtrack (the synthwave-ish sound they picked was inspired): great, great game.
That was.. a really good one. Loved the art, music and the story.
I’m usually terrible at point & click games and end up getting stuck or frustrated, but The Drifter actually kept me going all the way to the end. The story is genuinely really good and kept me intrigued throughout, and the voice acting is easily one of the highlights. Mick in particular is fantastic. The game also has a surprisingly good sense of humour, which helps a lot when things get dark. Some of the puzzles were definitely more frustrating for me than others, especially a couple involving timing or very specific interactions, and the chunky pixel art can sometimes make objects harder to identify than they probably should be. But even when I got stuck, I still wanted to keep going because I needed to know where the story was heading. Overall, a memorable experience and one I’d definitely recommend.
