About
Become a sea captain on a post-apocalyptic Earth completely covered in water and go on an adventure in a huge open world. Sail through storms, fight and trade, capture other people's boats or build your own, extract resources from the bottom of the ocean, reveal the secrets of the Age of Water world.
Water post-apocalypse
The ocean destroyed a once great civilization, but people survived and adapted. They built settlements on the roofs of tall buildings and the tops of other man-made structures. People travel across the ocean in tiny boats and huge combat vessels. The ocean provides everything they need, including extractable resources on the seabed. And yet, the dream of real land is still alive.
True open world
Explore the world at your own pace, discover new settlements and meet their inhabitants. Complete tasks, search for and extract valuable resources from the bottom of the ocean, earn money on trade or simply sell the artifacts you have obtained, and when you get the idea of how this world works, build your own base.
Hundreds of unique ships
Build boats from scratch or modify existing ones. Players have access to dozens of hulls and hundreds of parts, from which they can assemble anything ranging from a small boat to a hefty vessel 30 meters long, and then install equipment, armor and weapons. It’s important not to forget to gather a team of good crewmembers so that there is someone to stand behind machine guns and cannons or do other work on board.
Fierce naval battles
Pirates are always waiting for you at sea, and in some cases more aggressive players even start to chase you, so do not forget to install enough guns on your deck. You can destroy an enemy vessel, or you can capture it in battle and take it for yourself forever. Adventures might also get you into storming enemy fortresses and defending allied settlements!
Personal naval base
This shelter is reliably protected from enemies, and it allows a player to organize the production of everything that the captain may need on it. Build factories for the production of equipment, weapons, hulls for boats of all sizes, as well as the necessary resources.
Flexible balance between PvE and PvP
At first, you will only meet computer opponents, but later you can challenge other players if you are confident enough in your skills and gear. Always be on the lookout: if your task is to transport illegal goods, then other players may well take the quest to hunt smugglers. In Age of Water, everyone decides for themself who they are today - a peaceful traveler or a bloodthirsty pirate.

The core of the game is good: combat, equipment and hull collecting, aesthetic. However, the game has a fundamental problem: progression is heavily tied quests. You can only acquire more crew through specific quest lines, you can only improve your home base functionality through specific quests, and combat itself generally doesn't provide enough xp to level your crew, a requirement to be able to use larger hulls. This leaves your only path to advance being questing. Now the crux: the vast majority of these quests are just menial time sinks that do not respect the player's time. Travel to A, talk to Bob, travel to B, talk to Sue, travel to C, kill Bill, travel back to B, talk to Sue, travel back to A, and talk to Bob. Quest done. 15 minutes of quest of which 30 seconds of it was fun and the rest was travelling back and forth. The sad thing is that's not even the worst offender of a time sink quest in the game. One of the quest lines to acquire a new crew member requires you go back and forth repeatedly between two NPCs that are time gated: one is only accessible during the daytime in game, and one is only accessible at night. Daytime in the game is about 20 minutes, and nighttime is about 5 minutes. If you miss that 5 minute window to talk to the night NPC, you are stuck waiting 20 minutes for the next opportunity. This leaves you standing around doing nothing out of fear of missing the window, something that should never be a feature in any game. It doesn't help that the questline also has 3 separate escort missions, one of which can take almost 15 minutes on its own in the same formula as any other quest: 15 minutes, 3 or 4 combats that last about 10 seconds each, and the rest of the time is you just puttering along watching incredibly slow boats occasionally get stuck for no apparent reason. TLDR: a fun game that does not respect your time.
this game is broken. missions are absolutely broken with no help from devs. this game is unpolished garbage im glad i didnt play full price.
Minimum requirement is being unemployed
Let me start off by saying that I do like the game. The setting is nice and the game a lot of potential to be something really great. I enjoyed the play-through. I've been playing this game together with a friend. Helping each other whenever there's a need for it. During our time we did have some issues and some suggestions. This is my post about everything we encountered thus far. If you are going to play solo only, sure give it a try. But if you want to complete a playthrough with a friend, consider these points. 1. Party based Gameplay The idea is there, you can join a party and "play together". However, I am using that term lightly as there are some things that do really hinder the "co-op" play. For instance the loot and experience share. We've had numerous times where a quest kill did not count because a team member had the last hit on the ship. This caused the quest to not complete because the kill was not done by the player itself. This also goes for loot. I frequently help out my buddy by downing ships for like 75% and letting him have the final blow. The issue with this is that if it takes too long for him to get the kill, I still get no experience or loot at all while he gets everything. In my eyes this really makes me wonder what the party is for other than entering an instance together. The actual benefit from it is 0 compared to not being in a party. I might as well just leave the party and have the same outcome in term of shared progression or loot. This system could use a rework in my eyes to actually make party play meaningful. As of now we really don't see the benefit. It feels like playing solo, but together. One of my suggestions would be something like instanced loot. Having multiple people get rewards from the kill should not hurt the economy since there's literally no economy. You can't trade or pass items to other players anyway. As of now, if both players manage to do equal damage, a single drop is split in halve. This means both get 50% of the reward compared to the 100% reward they would've gotten if they killed it solo. In my eyes, this actually makes it more favorable to play solo since you lose out on rewards when playing together. 2. Pirate spawns The "contribution style" sharing of loot and experience is not really helpful in terms farming. People usually camp these spots in order to rob boats or the farm medallions. This causes a lot of players to go full ham on the boats in order to reap the most rewards. This makes it feel like a "rich getting richer" scenario where the ones with the most overpowered ships have the advantage of other players. For instance, if i help out my buddy in his play-through and I accidentally one tap a ship, it's over. He gets nothing even though being in a party. 3. Group content There's nothing wrong with group content, it's good to have players cooperate in certain ways. However the game has no systems in place to easily search for people to do the content you want. I haven't seen anyone use the chat ever in my play-through. I wonder if the chat even works because of this. I would suggest implementing something like a party finder system so you can queue up with people in order to farm like the armada groups, or do the scuttlefish or anything. This would make for a much nicer experience to conquer group content instead of waiting in front of the spawn in hopes a player actually shows up. 4. More end-game content We're at the point of having a T5 ship where we want to max out the systems on the boat. All that we are actually doing is: Kill a boss, farm a pirate spawn, repeat. It would be nice if there was more end-game content. Like group based instances where you fend of a couple of waves, then fight a boss. Or more randomized world events like a settlement being attacked which you have to defend together. Perhaps more world boss encounters instead of only the dread ripper. Maybe even a never ending waves of pirates to see how far you can go with increased rewards after every wave. Just throwing something out there. As of now, the game is fun, but it could be a lot more fun if the direction was actually more pointed toward the MMO side which you claim it to be. To me, it rather feels like a single player game where you can see other players.
Love the gameplay, the water interaction is beautiful and I can't wait for more content.
