Mick Carter's been drifting a while now- moving from job to job, never staying one place long. Jumping a box-car to his old home town, he witnesses a violent murder, is pursued by hi-tech soldiers, thrown in a reservoir and drowned.

The Drifter is our take on a classic 2d point and click adventure, with the brake-lines cut. The focus is on fast-paced storytelling, with puzzle-solving being the glue that ties it together. Mick's a practical guy, and so puzzles are down-to-earth too, designed to be unobtrusive, and give an investigative feel.
We're keeping the pacing quick and lean, you'll never be wandering around lost or confused- Mick is propelled through the story at a good clip, from one situation to another, with barely a moment to catch his breath. One minute you'll be crafting a Molotov cocktail from a bottle of over-proof rum, the next interrogating a crooked neurosurgeon before swinging from a high-rise window by a fraying extension lead.

Stumbled into this one by totally random here in Steam and saw a lot of positive reviews. I bought this on simultaneously with Locomotive and that one I really disliked, albeit fairly many positive reviews. I just thought Locomotive was boring adventure game. But The Drifter.. Now after Locomotive I was hesitant to even start another adventure title, but oh man oh man. In brief: The Drifter, IT'S AWESOME GAME !! I won't spoil this too much, but this one goes to a mix of horror (Stranger Things vibes) scifi (Groundhogs Day vibes) and suspense category and it just works overall really well. Plot was just throughout something that kept me interested in what is going to happen. Also I really liked that our protagonist here, with one of the best ever voice acting (Level of "Karlach", seriously) isn't silent, but thinks out loud very, very often. This is something that adds really much character to our protagonist. Huge kudos for maker for this one! The biggest gameplay factor, puzzles. All very well made. I can't think of a single bad puzzle and they mostly followed the logical route instead of the "use rubber chicken on a pulley" style very weird things. Characters, almost all very well written and interesting and here comes something I really wasn't expecting at all. Insanely well voice acted. There's one cop that I kinda wished to have been bit better written, but that's a minor gripe. Art style is really nice and music is really good. I really appreciated and it was so cool to see, that near ending of the game there was scene with kinda suspenseful background music and then there's bit of an bad-ass moment for player when progressing and it really felt like LucasArts iMuse as music all of the sudden transformed on-the-go to way more louder and kinda aggressive action style music. Seriously cool stuff. Also it came as total surprise that I played through this with Steam Deck, but ended up playing through completely SD attached to TV and played with normal Xbox compatible controller throughout the game, apart maybe first 30mins. Both conventional mouse control and controller option was surprisingly well made. This game deserves recognition. Best adventure game in very long time. 9/10

Those blokes at Powerhoof know how it's DONE! The voice acting, art, and plot all come together to create an excellent mystery that I couldn't put down. Like ravenously reading a real page turner or binging through a whole mystery series in a weekend.
I really enjoyed this game. The story was interesting. I really enjoyed the voice acting and visuals. Puzzles were great. Overall top tier adventure!
