La estética es única
I've enjoyed the first two chapters. Puzzles are not that difficult- except for for a couple of obtuse ones with the statues, but really, it's standard fare for the genre. Where it shines is the presentation, the visual style and audio are intriguing and drew me in. Sadly there is no voice acting which would have made it perfect for me. 4/5 ⭐
Great art, the story sucks you in. Some of the puzzles are a bit of a reach in a some spots, but so far this game rips. I *just* started chapter 4. Sometimes the performance stutters, but it's like whatever or whatever, you know?
Developed by Cockroach Inc. and published by The Sleeping Machine, The Dream Machine: Chapter 1 & 2 is a point-and-click adventure that immediately distinguishes itself through its extraordinary handcrafted presentation and atmospheric storytelling. Rather than relying on conventional digital artwork, the game builds its environments and characters from physical materials such as clay, cardboard, paper, and miniature props. This approach gives the world a tangible and almost surreal appearance, perfectly matching the strange narrative that unfolds. From the moment protagonist Victor Neff moves into a new apartment with his wife, the game establishes a sense of curiosity and unease that gradually evolves into a compelling psychological mystery. The story begins with what appears to be a simple fresh start for a young couple. However, the apartment building quickly reveals itself to be anything but ordinary. As Victor explores his surroundings and interacts with the eccentric residents, he uncovers clues pointing toward a much larger secret involving dreams, consciousness, and the mysterious landlord. The first two chapters do an excellent job of introducing the central conflict while leaving enough unanswered questions to maintain suspense. The writing is subtle and engaging, allowing discoveries to emerge naturally through exploration rather than overwhelming players with lengthy exposition. One of the game's most memorable qualities is its atmosphere. The handcrafted visuals create an environment that feels both welcoming and unsettling at the same time. Everyday locations are transformed into dreamlike spaces where ordinary objects seem slightly distorted and unfamiliar. This visual identity is not merely decorative; it actively supports the themes of the narrative. As Victor delves deeper into the mystery, the unusual art style reinforces the feeling that reality itself may not be entirely trustworthy. Few adventure games manage to blend artistic direction and storytelling as effectively as The Dream Machine. Gameplay follows the traditions of classic point-and-click adventures. Players search rooms, gather useful objects, solve environmental puzzles, and engage in conversations with various characters. The puzzle design is generally thoughtful and integrated into the story, ensuring that challenges feel meaningful rather than arbitrary. Solutions often require observation and logical thinking, rewarding players who pay attention to details in the environment. While some puzzles may take time to solve, they rarely feel unfair, and overcoming them contributes to the sense of progression and discovery. The game's cast also deserves recognition. The residents of the apartment complex are more than simple quest-givers; each has a unique personality and role within the larger mystery. Conversations gradually reveal hidden fears, motivations, and connections that enrich the world and encourage further investigation. Victor serves as an effective protagonist because he reacts to bizarre situations with believable caution and curiosity, making it easier for players to become invested in his journey. The audio design complements the experience exceptionally well. The soundtrack favors subtle, haunting melodies that strengthen the game's dreamlike mood without becoming intrusive. Ambient sounds and carefully timed musical cues help create tension during key moments while also emphasizing quieter scenes of exploration. Together with the visual presentation, the sound design transforms even simple interactions into memorable experiences. What makes these opening chapters particularly successful is their balance between mystery and accessibility. The game introduces complex ideas involving dreams and hidden realities without becoming confusing or overly abstract. Every discovery feels like a meaningful piece of a larger puzzle, encouraging players to continue exploring in search of answers. The narrative steadily builds intrigue while maintaining enough emotional grounding to keep the events relatable. The Dream Machine: Chapter 1 & 2 is not designed for players seeking fast-paced action or constant excitement. Its strengths lie in patient storytelling, methodical exploration, and immersive world-building. Those willing to embrace its slower pace will find a remarkably creative adventure that rewards curiosity and attention to detail. The combination of handcrafted visuals, intelligent puzzles, memorable characters, and a fascinating mystery creates an experience that remains distinctive even among the strongest entries in the adventure genre. For fans of story-driven games and traditional point-and-click adventures, The Dream Machine: Chapter 1 & 2 is an excellent introduction to a uniquely imaginative world. Its artistic ambition is matched by strong writing and engaging gameplay, resulting in a memorable experience that leaves players eager to continue the journey beyond the opening chapters. Rating: 8/10

So slow and boring
