Inexpensive, but 冰封之门 (or Frozen Door) is a VR shooter where you teleport a bit, fire your guns at enemies, and then teleport a bit until you reach the next level. Cash earned while fighting can be used to buy other guns. It's not horrible, especially for $3, but it's not particularly interesting. Gunplay is simplistic and it's rather buggy. I ended up in walls a lot, or stuck in areas I couldn't get out of. The main area that you spawn in on boot has a map with a flapping holographic monster. The audio for the flapping (I'm not sure why it has audio, to be honest) is so damn loud that I ended up muting the game until I could figure out what I was doing. Gunplay is all akimbo, but it's all strictly point and shoot, with reload on a button; that's not a problem, but just for informational purposes it's very simple gunplay. It doesn't look particularly good, and it doesn't seem to be very optimized. It's just sort of... mediocre all around. You could certainly spend your money in worse ways, but I don't think Frozen Door is really worth your time. There's plenty of VR shooter options on Steam, and chances are it'll probably be better than Frozen Door. The Door of ice would be the 5th game I am going to review for VR, and I think I found a nice outline to do such a thing! ☺ Ideal Consumer ☐ Kids ☐ Adults ☑ Everyone ☐ Casual players ☐ Pro players ☼ Graphics ☐ Atari ☐ Ugly ☑ Needs refinement ☐ Average ☐ Good ☐ Beautiful ☐ Masterpiece $ Price/quality ☐ Worth full price ☐ 25% Off ☑ 50% Off ☐ 75% Off ☐ Worthless game ☣ Difficulty ☑ No tutorial needed ☐ Slight learning curve ☐ Easy to learn / Hard to master ☐ Tutorials needed ☐ Use all resources to help learn 🕒 Game time/length ☑ Really short ( 0 - 2 hours) ☐ Short ( 2 - 8 hours) ☐ Few hours ( 8 - 12 hours) ☐ Long ( 12+ hours) ☐ Endless 📖Story ☐ Nonexistent (each play is a unique story you make) ☑ Disappointing ☐ Average ☐ Good ☐ Fantastic 🐞 Bugs ☑ A pile of Ajit Pie ☐ Lot of bugs ☐ Few Bugs ☐ Minimal/Unnoticeable bugs The Good -variety of enemies -different weapons -a nice map The Bad -broken guns -broken bosses -game lag from rocket use -no need to try because it's only set to easy -One super confusing puzzle that makes the game seem broken Bottom Line The game is great for the price it is at I guess, though, I don't know if in 4 months, if these problems still being here means it's a good idea? I assume that 40 minute is worth 2 dollars to some people, I just wish the game was polished more as a whole! 7 minute video review: https://youtu.be/vsGPei0jOXs
I can confirm this game works on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers. However, you have to do a Windows 7 compatibility fix or you'll get a black screen on your HMD
*** UPDATE *** I have encountered an almost game-breaking bug where you can't change difficulty in the game. Another reviewer is stuck on easy mode. I am stuck on normal or hard mode (I can't tell because either way I can't get past any of the levels now after clearing them on easy very easily). Also, whenever I click on end after dying, more times than not the game will crash. Due to the above issues, I am reducing my score to a 5/10. That means buy at your own risk until the bugs are fixed. I still think the game is cheap and fun. But it has game-breaking problems so you should not purchase unless you feel comfortable dealing with them *** END UPDATE *** So this game costs $1.79 USD currently on release sale. Is this game worth almost $2? Hell yeah! I had an absolute blast playing this game. I played it for over an hour (I know my steam says less than 40 minutes, but it didn't count when I was playing the game testing Windows 7 compatibility). This game is an absolute blast to play, but it does have many issues. First issue, obviously, doesn't work on the Oculus Rift off the gate. Secondly, poor optimization. Maybe it's because of the Windows 7 fix, but this game runs so bad. Various graphical issues. Low frame rates. Sluggish performance. I am on i7, GTX 1060, 16 GB Ram so I obviously don't have a 1080 Ti and maybe this games runs better with a beefy PC. Third issue is pathing issues for enemies and also on teleports. You'll see enemies stuck in a corner. Very rough UI and some very bad AI (at least on Easy difficulty). Bad English translations (normal is misspelled). I think there was also a problem with the energy/laser weapon because it showed as a normal handguns to me (even though it was killing stuff faster and I wasn't having to reload unlike the normal handguns). Also, not sure if this was a bug or not, but I couldn't find the key on the very first level on my first playthrough and then I shot a jug and the key was there. They key was just out in the open for the other levels. However, even despite all the above issues, this game is hella fun. Why is that? It's just a wave teleport shooter afterall. Well, first of all, you can teleport around these grand, majestic levels. The level of detail is amazing. Each level has it's own look. There's all kind of enemies. Yeah, some of them do repeat, but there was so much difference in enemy looks and behavior that I was awestruck this is only a $3 game normal price. The first boss looks totally epic and I was just machine gunning that demon (or she-demon?) into oblivion on easy. I managed to beat the first round of levels on easy without too much an effort. I had lots of fun. You do have to manually reload your dual handguns, but with dual machine guns, you just shoot until you run out of bullets. Then I said, well let me try that on Normal difficulty. I can't even get past the first level. Enemies become so much more aggressive and they do all kinds of things they weren't doing on easy. Wow. NOTE: I am stuck on this difficulty and can't get out of normal difficulty. I already got my $1.79 worth. Now please optimize this game, allow for free locomotion and turning, fix the bugs and you have the best game for under $3. NOTE: I got my money's worth, but if the game doesn't get updated, it's only worth $1.79. Sale Price Rating 5/10. Please patch all the bugs in this game and please support Oculus!
I tried this out on "easy" settings. The controls are not intuitive at all. You teleport to a round area on the ground and then a first wave of about 12 knights is storming towards you from three different angles. If they get close to you, that's it. ("You are lose" as the game says) Lasted about 1 min by teleporting away all the time on my first attempt. Lasted about 5sec without teleporting on my second attempt. There will be no third attempt.

The Door of Ice 冰封之门 (I copy-pasted that from the game's store page, it doesn't have the same title in my library) is a very generic VR wave shooter with some minor pros and major cons. I will now list some. Pros: 1. Good visuals, though they're mostly just UE4 marketplace assets and a default font 2. The main menu level selection looks nice, I guess. Not much else. Cons: 1. Everything about this game screams Unreal Engine asset flip. 2. The game has tons of misspellings in English, like "NOMRAL" instead of "NORMAL" in the difficulty settings. 3. Controls are awkward and unintuitive. 4. Teleport locomotion feels thrown in and does not feel necessary at all. 5. Gameplay is pretty basic, though there is some gun variety, which is nice. Points of potential improvement if the devs actually decide to work on the game more (doubtful): 1. Make the reload mechanic more immersive or at least make it easier on the fingers. 2. Fix your spelling mistakes. 3. Consider not using teleport locomotion at all. This ruins the immersion in wave shooters. I would prefer trackpad-controlled running with the ability to climb on ledges and/or jump over obstacles. 4. Maybe consider adding a full body first-person model to the player that can be toggled on/off. Few VR games bother to have this feature so far, but it feels like it could improve this game's initial appeal if done right. 5. More environmental interaction would be nice. Let me blow more things up! Overall, this game needs a lot more work to be worth even its low asking price of $3. I honestly feel like it could have problems competing with free VR games! It offers little to the player in terms of uniqueness either visually or mechanically. I do not recommend buying it in its current state.
Its ok. Its basically a wave shooter with some teleport capabilites. No real story or objective, just shoot and move forward. This would be good for people with limited gaming experience who are not ready for the complexity of an indept RPG.
Sorry, aber das Spiel ist weder fertig (Bugs / Glitches), noch habe ich irgendeine Aussicht, dass es jemals Spaß machen wird. Nichtmal solide Mittelklasse. Da gibt es hunderte besserer Spiele. This is fun for the price. It is a low quality version of Serious Sam, and allows you to teleport around some very good looking, and sometimes beautiful, environments. The enemies are varied, and the textures are pretty good. There are game bugs, but for almost free, what can you say? Give it a try!
