About

In The Dark Horde, time is your most valuable resource. Every action you take costs Time Units (TUs), forcing you to think ahead.
Once you've spent your TUs, you must wait for your turn to resume. You can only play cards or abilities when Time is paused, so think strategically!

Summon powerful minions and cast devastating spells from your dark spellbook. Experiment with synergies between your cards to unleash devastating combos.
Whether commanding demons or invoking Death itself, build an army to overwhelm your enemies and dominate the battlefield.

The objective is clear: either plunder the enemy Village or survive for 3 days against waves of angry Villagers. Every round starts with 180 Time Units.
Spend them wisely to play cards or actions, then wait for your next turn. Seize gold, harvest souls, and destroy the enemy settlement!

With every victory, earn loot to enhance your deck. Upgrade cards, abilities, and unlock new, powerful skills to strengthen your strategy.
The choices you make will shape your path—plan carefully, upgrade strategically, and prepare for increasingly challenging encounters.

Ouai, je recommande mais que à mes potes, vous autres là-bas je vous connais pas et je sais pas si vous méritez de jouer à un bon jeu.
Excellent unique deckbuilding strategy game. Already packed with synergies and combos and several different decks you can shoot for. Don't be fooled by things on the screen moving, when its your time to play a card there is no rush, its turn based!
pretty fun, easily worth the price. looking forward to updates
Surprisingly addictive turn-based strategy gem right here. Worth the $$ easy.
A charming roguelite deckbuilder. Ever wanted to become The Dark Lord and use your cursed strength to punish mortals? You can do that here. Summon demons, zombies and swarms of rats to instill fear in feeble human minds. If that's not enough, SPELL their doom with unholy magic, and laugh as you conquer the world.
A charming and unique (at least to me) on the rogue-like deck building genre. Unlike most games in the genre, you don't have 'energy or stamina' in which to play your card. Here you use time or 'Time Units (TU)'. Every card has a TU cost which goes by fairly quickly - half a second if I recall correctly - and combat proceeds in real time. This leads to an interesting scenario where you have to strategically use your cards and various actions in order to win battles. It took me a bit to get used to this and I admit that I still spend a lot of time rapidly clicking on the action I want to undertake even though time is ticking down. The art style is cute and the pixel graphics serve it well. I will say that there are times that there are far too many minions or sprites on the screen that when you try to pause and examine them to see their statistics, it becomes clunky as they overlap over one another and you can't quite get the minion you want but it's a minor gripe. There is a bit of a grind but it isn't unbearable. The fun comes in working with the synergies amongst the cards and card types (domains). Sometimes you have a zombie deck that is dependent on the generation of corpses or destruction of corpses but there are cards in the corruption domain that will more readily do this for you. So you are encouraged to experiment and find new ways to play. Most battles are short with a deck run of fifteen rounds taking about anywhere from 15 to 30 min for me at least with deck building in between each round. So not at all time consuming and quite rewarding in the end. In the early access stage, it's got most of the content already there which is exciting and well worth-the price. Certainly looking forward to what the full release comes out with.
It's a great game for the state it's in. I am having fun with it, trying to find the most op combos. My fun increased with the patch that removed the miracles from the early game. Those don't feel great tbh. I understand that from a game design perspective this disencourages small decks but it's not really fun to me. Also, why do we need to disencourage small decks in the first place? Another issue is the legibility of the units vs the background. It's all too similiar. Nonehteless great game. The strongest point are fun combinations and the way we build our decks
Pretty fun game, really good build variety
very much worth the bucks. I played for 8h immediately after buying it, when I don't tend to buy games. the game genuinely inspires playing it more, which is nice; typically i'll get bored of the progression and accordingly of the game, but here the progression (mostly unlocking options, but when you win runs your 'deck' (four starting cards) gets upgraded, and then playing with that deck gets harder. (but the upgraded card is available for any deck/class.) i've not really done it service with these words but it's a really good, and SUPER innovative 'rogueli[t/k]e deckbuilder' (though the genre struggles to fit around the edges). I've played like, at least 20+ roguelike deckbuilders, and this is far and away the most interesting. There's also long-term level progression that includes varied cards added to the pool, and like 'map' options (the map in particular is much of this game's innovation, and I GREATLY prefer it over the StS node-based map); it's reminiscent (in its innovation, and little else) to Tarnished Blood's map events into a boss loop (but maybe i'm just comparing them because they both feature 'time-based' combat ? also in general I'm pretty fond of the battle cats-style gameplay, and i'm very happy to see it rejuvenated in a 2024 game that's otherwise completely distinct. easy strong recommend; feels of similar quality to Path of Achra (as in single-dev release that feels amazing to play, where the dev understands the value of listening to their community, and takes wisely from the larger space (i.e., deckbuilders in this case). I'm really not a 100%-er kinda guy except for games that I really vibe with, but I'm interested in aiming for that with this game (it's unlikely I will do it soon, but I do hope to at least be like "oh i loved the dark horde i should start it up again" when it's less fresh to me. Also to address the single negative rating: yes, there are balance issues, but the dev has explicitly commented on that already and I'm hardly concerned as my enjoyment has not in any way been affected, which itself, to me, is a testament to it's funness (but maybe it'd get in the way of my wanting to 100% it right now, if that amounted to me abusing the same unbalanced strategies).
