The Crew 2 is to me the best game in the franchise, with a closely held candle by Motorfest.
Be it the gigantic map, the graphics or the incredible 600+ car roster, it's, to me, the best arcade open world vehicle game on the maket, especially at the on sale price tag of under 10 bucks.
I was frankly esitant to make a review about this game because, despite owning over a quarter of the car roster, having all achievements and over 200 hours of gametime, i felt it had much more to offer that i had yet to explore, as i noticed when exploring with my girlfriend and discovering new spots lost in the forest.
Most of the gameplay in The Crew 2 is reflected by your very first race : you'll be offput by the handling, but get used to it after a while, until it becomes fun and addictive. It took me a couple of days to first enjoy the game and to this day i never say no to a quick 1-2 hour session of just driving around.
In that sense, the stories, exploration based challenges divided in steps, feel offputting because of their length, but become very fun very fast, same with things like offroad handling, and hovercraft handling and, as i said, most things in this game.
Where TC2 really shines for me is diversity, in roads, in environments, in vehicle choice, in customisation, in playstyle and in gameplay. there is 16 diciplines and vehicle types, 17 if you count the one helicopter (street race, hypercar, drag racing, drift, rallycross, rallyraid, air race, freestyle planes, monster truck, jetsprint boats, racing boats, motocross, f1, gt cars and hovercraft) and with a map based on the entirity of america you are bound to have something for you in the game.
Overall i would recommend, even with the flaws : notably a few hackers, network issues and an empty pvp system aside from weekly competition
The Crew two is a great and very enjoyable game that fills it's role very well, just dont go expect a sim experience, nor a perfect one.
It's the most solid 8/10 i've had the pleasure of playing.
