Scanner feature looks fantastic, but I was expecting a story-driven game, which this is not. It all begins with a blackout and a message instructing you to go fix it. Fortunately, the lights return for a bit longer, allowing you to become acquainted with the controls. They follow the conventional first-person template, which includes basic movement, jumping, crouching, and sprinting, so you should have no problems with them. The objective is to wander throughout the dark facility, looking for rooms where you need to interact or pick something up. You feel like you are looking for a needle in a haystack since you have no idea how the facility looks like or where the rooms are. It feels weird to send you inside without even a basic map. Lights do not last long since you are swiftly plunged into complete darkness. Although there is a flashlight, it barely lights the area in front of your nose. In other words, it is totally useless. However, this is where the game's intriguing scanner comes in. When you put on your headset and activate the scanner, it will throw light particles at whatever you point it at. You do not need to hold down the mouse button or any other key because it performs everything automatically. All you have to do is drag the mouse around to cover as much surface as possible. Because you only cover a limited square, you have to shift around frequently. The longer you hold it in a specific location, the more detailed it becomes and the longer it remains visible. This result is stunning, and it appears like you are drawing an aurora borealis, with red in the distant, blue in the middle, and white color nearby. Particles disperse over time and can be observed through solid things like walls and metals. Later, you receive a bomb that bursts with particles and instantly covers the room. Of course, darkness and limited visibility make for an unpleasant combination. Sound plays a big role in this because you’re constantly on the edge. There are also weird shapes revealed with the scanner that resemble human bodies. Along with other terrible things. Unfortunately, this is where the game falters a bit. An invisible entity lurks in the darkness, ready to attack you at any time. It can jump out at any swift movement, so forget about walking or even running. You can not run or hide, and you do not have any weapons against it. The only way to see it is as it passes through particles, distorting or consuming them. This forces you to crouch the entire game and move slowly around the rooms’ edges and corners. One nitpicking issue is that you have to save manually at save consoles as there are no checkpoints. If you do something and don’t save, you will lose entire progress. On the other side, the game is short, and the facility is small. You only need to perform a few things and then access the ext elevator. Once you know the layout, you can do this quickly. As a little bonus, you can finish the game right away by choosing not to enter the facility.
Excellent game. Totally hate it because it's too much stress... freaking amazing! Great price for this. Get it.
This game had me fooled goin' in. I didn't think it was a horror game but lo and behold haha. It reminds me of The Voidness. I like the concept. We have to use a scanner to explore a facility that has gone dark. We may as well be blind. The flashlight barely does anything. So we'll be dependin on the scanner. The atmosphere is done nicely. I do think voice overs would've help a lot with the storytellin' and atmosphere. I'm intrigued enough to see how the story ends. Gameplay Impressions: https://youtu.be/arnKL_vx-jQ
An intense awesome experience with one of my favourite Asthetics, the LIDAR making a return in this game. The game has a very scary threat that keeps you on your toes. Coupled with voice detection so the enemy can hear you. This makes for a epic stealth experience. Took a few hours to complete but I did not explore all the areas fully yet. I enjoyed it immensely.
Fantastic work of art by the developers. If you take your time, you can really take in the details and have an enjoyable experience likely ranging from 2-3 hours of solid gameplay. There's a little bit of a learning curve, I recommend you figure out how to beat the game on your own! I streamed this game live on twitch and the developers stopped by and hung out for a couple of hours, really cool guys that really know what they are doing! Looking forward to their next work.
I'm a big fan of spooky, horror-esque games, and this one immediately caught my eye while browsing new releases on Steam. Most of the game takes place in a destroyed research facility where a mysterious monster roams, and you have to stay quiet to survive. The atmosphere is oppressive, and the sense of dread builds with every step you take through the dark, dilapidated halls. There were several moments when I found myself holding my breath, on the edge of my seat as the monster passed by, praying it wouldn't sense me. The tension is palpable, and it constantly keeps you on edge, which is exactly what I look for in a horror game. One of the unique features of this game is the integrated mic audio input, which made things even more intense because I was streaming when playing this game. My chat loved trying to get me to react and accidentally alert the monster, adding a fun, interactive layer to the experience. I could feel my heart racing every time someone tried to get me to laugh or scream at the worst possible moment! A major part of the gameplay involves wearing a headset and using an AEGIS-scanner to map out your surroundings. The scanner creates beautiful, particle effects that reveal the outlines of the environment, adding to the game's distinct visual style. The way the world is revealed through these glowing outlines adds a layer of mystery and beauty while exploring the facility. Though the game is on the shorter side, clocking in at around 2-3 hours, I think the experience it delivers is well worth the $10 price tag. If you're a fan of atmospheric horror and enjoy the thrill of being hunted, this game is definitely worth checking out!
If you like atmosphere this game delivers in spades! I think the unsettling feeling of mysteriously abandoned spaces is perfectly captured from the beginning and immediately makes the player question if they really want to explore any further. The game mechanics do a great job of perpetuating that feeling and giving the game spooky edge as you explore. The atmosphere, the game play, and the compact nature of the game with just a touch of fright is a fun little treat just in time for Halloween!
I enjoyed myself, huge fan of orbs. Absolutely tons of em, they get sucked around & it's honestly a highlight. 2-hour game, short & sweet.
Its a short game, but the mechanics are solid. You won't know what you're doing at times, but luckily the scanner colours things you can interact with in green. Wouldve loved this game to somehow be longer, although they'd have to fiddle with making the flashlight more useful; since the only time i used it was to check the nameplates of rooms
great game, only complaints are it's short, but that's just me wishing I could play more, and I couldn't figure out how to get the mic working, but I think that was my computer. Apart from all that, great game, scared the ♥♥♥♥ out of me.
