About
The rules of Go (also known as Weiqi (围棋, 圍棋), Baduk (바둑), and Igo (囲碁)) are fairly simple and are covered in full within interactive in-game tutorials. In short, two players take turns placing stones on the board with the goal to control more territory than the opponent. The strategy to accomplish this goal runs deep, which is what has kept people playing Go for thousands of years. In The Conquest of Go, the player will compete against nations for control of land and resources through a campaign mode with Go gameplay. Players will improve their skills by playing matches, reviewing matches, and solving Go problems. Several educational and AI assisted features are available to help new and experienced players. Once the player has grasped the basics, they can also challenge opponents online from around the world.

Go is a great game for anyone that likes strategic board games like chess. The Conquest of Go is a solid implementation of it with a guide, surprisingly fun campaign and easy post-game analysis. The art style is fun and unique and helps beginners understand stone connections, though I assume it will take some time to get used to not having them when you play somewhere else.
I'm at a very chinese time of my life. Nah but fr, this is an amzing Baduk client. Go play it now (pun intended) The tutorials are also very nice, and with the wide selection of CPU opponents and the campaign mode, it is also a very good learning resource for begginers. Not that it can replace a human teacher or even just Go books, but as a suplemental resource, and also an interactive board for use with Go literature, it's quite possibly the best there is.
I cannot put into words how much of a game changer this is . It uses the KataGo engine in the background, the AI difficulty can seamlessly scale from an absolute beginner level all the way up to superhuman professional strength (far beyond 9-dan). Brilliantly disguising a world-class AI tutor as a high-stakes, map-painting military video game, it gives the ultimate sandbox to build spatial intuition from a day-one beginner to a 9-Dan general.
I have been trying to learn Go for the better part of 20 years but it never stuck and I usually lost interest. Conquest has really helped me understand the fundamentals of the game which has also deepened my enjoyment of the game. I can actually see myself improving. Hope to see better AI analysis with greater detail on WHY some moves are better at some point down the road but the way its currently implemented works just fine.
Honestly I think I can safely say that this is by far and away the best go application out there. If you are getting just getting into go or have some experience I 100 percent recommend getting this game. Even if you are an experienced player though you may not find the campaign incredibly compelling. The UI and full online-go integration for multiplayer, Ai computers using katago, Game analysis tools etc and just the general vibes imo make it still a great purchase for only 15 dollars Really just an amazing game I applaud the developer
Update 2: I really like playing this. After losing 9x9 game after game I finally beat it a second time (I think the first game was a give-away so the AI could figure out how hard to play against me). Anyways, this time after beating it, I let it review the moves and see where I made some mistakes. >> This is a great feature, but I really wish the game would give immediate feedback when I make a bad move rather than waiting until the end of the game. << Update: Once you conquer a region, there is a "fortify" option, which are short puzzles, and I enjoy playing them even if they are so far fairly easy. There is also a "give me a hint" button, but you pay for that with resources you acquire by conquering territory. Although none of it is very serious because the game gives you a ton of resources for free at the start. Still, getting hints helps with how I see the board to some degree, although I don't quite understand the "why" of how those hints got the scores they got. That's the crux of all learning in Go: adopting a new way of thinking. I'm still very very rough even when I understand a lot of the basics, and I've played against better players who could describe the "why" of certain moves, and I could see their view of the board was far more refined than mine. I'm still a bit of a clod in Go, but this game makes it really easy to quickly play a game without any hesitation. Here's my 0.3 hours review: Intro: Go? Well it's an order of magnitude more subtle and demanding than chess. If you play both for very long, you'll find Go is the superior game. On "The Conquest Of Go", I have so far played 2 very simple 9x9 games, presumably on a very easy AI. I haven't played Go in many years, so it feels a bit like getting my feet wet again. I bought this game because I wanted any excuse to get me playing Go again, and this is less serious and intimidating than playing against people, at least for me. Because I already have some background with Go, having read the whole series "Learn To Play Go" it's hard for me to gauge whether this game would help someone who had never played Go before. I would recommend those books for a beginner, as the game Go has a huge learning curve even if the rules are simple, and the books provide a methodical approach. Having said that, who knows? Maybe the tutorial in this game will provide the same background - I haven't taken the time to go through it, and I'm not sure I ever will. Either way, if you've already done your homework, then this is a nice place to warm up. I also have a copy of "Many Faces of Go v12" but this feels a lot more friendly, so I think this game is going to have my attention for a while, at least until I feel ready to go hang out with the local Go club that meets every Sunday down the street from where I live. I sort of can't wait to do that, but I'm not willing to waste their time letting me play if I don't have at least some basic competency, and I think this game will help me get there.
