Think of Gangsters or gangsters 2 ! If you are a fan of Mafia games, then this one is for you ! It is a strategy game. You play a Boss of 5 families. You choose which family you want ! it's a fun little game , to me it is a gem ! I am playing it right now ! I want to thank the developers for making it. There is a lack of Mafia games since Gangsters 2 and Mob Rule. There is Omerta which I also adore too. If you like this genre you wont be disappointed. To me the 20 bucks is worth it . To other players it may be disappointing. It is a game like from 1997. I adore the game its a small gem. Its realistic. You can promote associates into soldiers. You can promote soldiers into capos. Its fun ! Its a little gem and I would recommend it to gangsters and Gangsters 2 fans. Yes those games probably had more capital to make it a more bigger game but think of the potential. Thanks for making the game , hope you make a part 2 with many more options . Think of it. Thanks! It's time for me to take over the city Al Capone style.
I was eager to like this, and most of the elements of a decent game are here in a rudimentary form. However, as I played, I gradually realized that my ever-lengthening list of criticisms and suggestions were not applicable. I was trying to construct a critique of a grand strategy game for PC, but what this is... is a mobile game. The depersonalized art, the extremely basic functionality, the extremely slow grind, the impossibility of dynamic or decisive action against opposing families, no endgame or even significant event markers along the way... all these things are hallmarks of the mobile design paradigm, and you can even see the spots where monetization features might have been scratched out for a PC port. There are the bones of a solid mob grand strategy game here, but that's all. Just bones.
For now the game is not worth the money in my opinion. The mid to late game is very shallow, and it pretty much become a click game (to maximize the profits with espansions) and steamroll the other families when you got new caporegime/soldiers. Having said that, I see that the devs are still working on it (in my opinion is more an early access game than a finish product). I could change my review if some (many) improvement are done in the RPG aspect of the game (politics, diplomacy with the other families, diplomacy and betrayal inside own family) and late game objective (it's very easy, maybe way to easy, to build a Casino and late game facilities).

Despite all windows and shutters being firmly closed, the five individuals are smoking the best cigars from Havana, waiting patiently for your arrival. Here you come, slowly wafting through the heavy smoke as you approached your Victorian desk. After taking your seat, you clearly describe your intentions for the city of New Shore. “We are going to own New Shore, capisce?!” Now get to work in. . . . The Commission: Organized Crime Grand Strategy. The Commission: Organized Crime Grand Strategy is a turn-based strategy game developed by 302 Interactive and published by 2:30 AM Studios where you take control of one of the five families who want to take control of the city of New Shore. Before you start a game, I strongly suggest jumping into the tutorial which will outlay the basics of the game. It will only take roughly ten minutes to complete. From here, you’ll have to choose which one of the five families you’ll be playing as. Each of them has a specific trait, and it will be up to you to choose who you will be representing in the city of New Shore. Then it will be time to adjust the difficulty level; there are four available, from Easy to Insane. If you choose to play on the Easy level, you’ll have a small advantage the other families, but if you decide to play in the Insane level, you’ll be at a considerable disadvantage compared to all the other families. However, you can decide to play against one or all families as part of the difficulty. From here, it will be all about how and where to place your troops within the city of New Shore. The city is divided into five different districts. Each of the districts has eight suburbs, and all of them are classified from poor to rich and from low to high density in terms of people. At the start of the game, you’ll only have two caporegim (or henchmen, if you prefer) and each of them will have two soldatos with them. First, you’ll have to assign both of your henchmen to one of the five districts available. Then you’ll be able to deploy each of your soldato to a specific suburb within the district. You’ll also have a certain number of muscles (or subordinates, if you like) who you can allocate to your soldatos When you’ve done that, you’ll be able to start purchasing rackets from the 17 available to you. Each racket will cost a specific amount of money to build, and will tell you what sort of profit you’ll get. You can invest additional funds into each racket per turn (as long as you have enough money in your pockets) and therefore increase the profit every single turn. The small issue is that the other families will ultimately send their own caporegime into each of the districts and suburbs and start their own rackets. As soon as you start running rackets in a specific suburb, the police will start to be more active, and the heat within the district will start to rise. So, image when one or all the other families start to do business in the same suburb, the heat will hit the roof and you might even have your caporegime or soldatos arrested if you are not careful. Thankfully you can decide to stop your rackets for several turns to decrease the heat within the suburbs and avoid arrest. The police are one thing to worry about, but the biggest threat will undeniably come from the other families who set up shop in the same suburbs. You can keep the peace, but it will dig into your profits, or you can just go to war against them! Bear in mind that being at war might also bring a lot of pain to your operations. Not only will the heat be sky high every turn, but you might lose some of your operations, too. The worst case is to have all your muscles killed and your soldato interrogated for further information on your caporegimes and soldatos. However, if you manage to eliminate all enemies, you will be the one who gets information on the other family henchmen. Gather enough information and you’ll be able to initiate a hit on one or more important people of the other families. You’ll need your level up your Don (the head of the family), which is achieved according to how many territories and businesses you own, in order for you to be able to promote new caporegimes and soltados into your rank, and it can take a bit of time to do so. As you accumulate wealth, you can also bribe important people, such as the police chief, district attorney and other key figures, but it will take a big chunk out of your profit every time you do so, and it only will last for a certain amount time. Nice graphics, and the soundtrack is totally adequate and emphasises the overall theme of the game, which is brilliant. There is a bit of managing to do in this game, and you’ll have to do it throughout all the individual suburbs every single turn in order to combat the heat and the families, as well as invest more money on rackets that will give you more profit the next turn. It will take you a little bit of time to fully understand how the game works, but you have a great gamepedia available to you to help you out. Positives: ~~~~~~~ + Nice graphics + Great soundtrack + Great gamepedia + Several levels of difficulty + Achievements Negatives: ~~~~~~~~ - No trading cards as yet - Take a bit of time to get used to It’s time to take over the city of New Shore, my dear associates and other families. . . I have really enjoyed this game thus far, while initially seeming a little sparse, I very quickly realised that there is actually alot of nuance and interesting interactions between mechanics. The traits for your soldatos, capos and your don, for example, at first seemed a little generic and boring, until I realised they stack on top of each other in the geographic divisions of the game, allowing interesting stacking and builiding of modifiors and alot of interesting possibilities there alone! This game is teeming with things like that, the mechanics all feel well thought out and nuanced. The game is also very thematically sound with money being the sole driving purpose and primary resource of everything you do, your actions are abstracted in a brilliant way, almost simulating the dissonance between the leader of a criminal syndicate and the carnage they create. You will end up killing dozens of people, in the cold pursuit of money, and you will not see any of it, it is purely impersonal and just numbers. It very much feels like a good boardgame and one can see that the devs were going for that in a way with the design of the map, the one menu you have in the game, looks like a boardgame, and it works. It is a compact, well thought out and surprisingly nuanced game. I do have a few light criticisms of the game, that are a little annoying, but that I am sure will be addressed in future patches: - the lack of tutorial makes starting the game a little jarring, although there is a glossary button at the top of the screen that explains all of the game mechanics well, it is never pointed out to you. - the ui feels a little oversized, perhaps it is just due to having a lower resolution, but it takes up about 2/5ths of the screen at all times at least, it makes it feel slightly clutered. I think it could do well with slightly scaling down the ui elements slightly. - the music is nice, however there are a small number of tracks and they very quickly start to repeat, a small gripe, but worth mentioning I will definately be playing more of this in the coming days, and I'm excited to see what will be done with this game and this studio in the future, and I wish them luck.
The Commission: Organized Crime Grand Strategy
Establish your domain in the city of Nueva Costa as one of the most imposing mafias the world has ever achieved, fighting against 4 other families and crushing your way to success. First strategy title of 302 Interactive and 2:30 a.m. Studies, we hope to see a good game, let's go to the review. Positive Points •I think what the most one can get to stand out from this title is the soundtrack what it has, it is incredible as simply the music can make you feel that you are a true Italian criminal of the first years of the 17th century. •The weight of your file is almost nil, so you can take it anywhere or download it in a jiffy (120mb approximately). •5 families to choose from, within which we will have different characters to use, different skills, among other things. •Politics systems where you can bribe them to leave you alone or do favors for our mafia. •A Commission in which the best mafia will be chosen in different sectors, this will depend on the number of votes you have and with these same votes you can choose temporary bonuses that will affect the 5 families. •The amount of errors I found in the game are very low, counting what has come out very recently. •The technical requirements to play it are really low, any computer from 10 years ago can run it. •The developers care about the product, listen to the community and then update it (At least so far). •And most important of all, it is a game in which time passes without you realizing so in the blink of an eye you will be seeing the first rays of daylight passing through your window. Neutral Points •It is only available in 1 language, which is English, it is a very unfavorable point since the game is based almost entirely on text. But there is also what to let go because what is an Indie studio and the game is new in the market, you have to give it more time to fix your main mistakes. •All factions start with the same amount of money, this is something that seems unrealistic but at the same time balanced so that one is not on the other. •The HUD is not at all flashy but at the same time its simplicity sticks with the theme what the title wants to represent. Negative Points •The difficulty is not something that significantly changes the game, it does not increase the level of the AI, it simply lets it start with an advantage over the player. With this I want to say that if one knows how to play, there will come a moment when the choice of difficulty is not very relevant. •The main defect that this title has, and in which the developers are working, is the lack of a tutorial. It is something that the title really needs, mainly because its learning curve is really steep and you have to dedicate many games to understand it. •The game map is really simple, which is fine, but the problem is in what is very confusing. In several situations you do not know in which region you are, this could be solved by making each region represent a color or something similar. •Does not warn you of several events, such as when they arrest a subordinate of your mafia, so you will find out what all the investment you were making disappears at once. •Its price is really high to be a product that is just coming to the market, I sincerely believe what they would have to download to attract more public. Conclusion It is a game that I think can have great potential but the problem is what is really fresh and it needs to be incorporated into the market. I recommend buying it in offers and what I think its price is unfair. I hope to see more about this title in the not too distant future. Don't waste any money on this game. It's boring, repetitive, without any depth or support from the developers. It's already long dead and forgotten. Wasted $20 on this :(
This is basically a flash game. the funny fact is, that there are flash games with more depth than this one. This is a twenty dollar game. A twenty dollar game. For what you get, and for what you paid, this is a severe loss. This game should be for free on Kongregate. That is how stupid the price is, and how minimal the game is.
This is a really shallow management sim. The entire game is a menu driven flash game, you'll be reading spread sheets and stats without really feeling like you are doing much. That game play style might be OK if there was depth, but the decisions are so simple that there's no real satisfaction. There's a few stats that pretend to matter, but it's mostly just volume, hire enough people and the stats are meaningless. Hire random-name, assign to job, wait for money. Twiddle thumbs and wonder why you are playing. Looking at the history of other reviews apparently the game used to be $20, it's now price reduced to $5 and I still don't think it's worth that. What you see in the screenshots on the store page is the game, you'll just be flopping between those menus making choices that don't feel like they matter much and waiting for the game to end. --- While you are here, would you consider following my curator page? Want to read all of my reviews and not just the curated ones?
