The Berlin Apartment

This game is different from the games I usually play, but it was a good experience. It offers a brief glimpse into recent German history. I do recommend the game, but it's probably not for everyone.

I've just finished playing The Berlin Apartment, a walking sim developed by Blue Backpack, and published by Blue Backpack, ByteRockers' Games, and PARCO GAMES. It took me four hours to finish all the achievements, but it could probably beaten casually in under three. The Berlin Apartment takes place in the year 2020, when a young girl and her father begin renovating a dilapidated apartment in Berlin. As the the two work to repair the building, they exchange stories about its former residents across the past century. The anthology has four short stories, each featuring a different resident of the apartment in each of the following years: 1989, 1967, 1945, and 1933. Each entry in the anthology is intended to spotlight a period of historic significance, such as the lead up and resolution of WWII, as well as the fall of the Berlin Wall. Despite being set in sensational periods of history, the writing fails to deliver across any of the anthologies. Characters are simultaneously chatty, while saying very little at all. In the first story, the character lies on the ground and monologues to themselves for at least five minutes about basically nothing. The other stories are disappointingly similar, further hurt by amateurish voice performances which are largely devoid of emotion. Even by walking sim standards, The Berlin Apartment is slow, bordering on a parody of the genre. Characters move across the apartment as if wading through mud with bricks on their feet. Interactivity is rarely more than commenting on items around the apartment, or opening doors to walk through them. Several chapters present rather unusual graphical bugs, particularly when rendering some of the more detailed areas in the final story. If it wasn't apparent from my tepid previous paragraphs, I would not recommend The Berlin Apartment. I respect what appears to have been a desire to respectfully portray momentous points of history in game format; however, its overly mild writing and voice performances failed to deliver an entertaining game.

it's a good game. the concept is really good though i hoped the writing would pull on your emotions a bit more. i recommend getting it on discount though.

This game is an empathetic look at the tumultuous history of 20th-century Berlin and how its political landscape affected everyday citizens. The writing and acting are a bit weak and gameplay stays minimal, but every chapter brings a distinct charm - especially the final chapter with some very imaginative visuals. Quiet, reflective, and a thoughtful look at how the passage of time covers the past.

Очень уютная и медитативная игра, как приятный побочный эффект можно подтянуть английский или немецкий. В некоторых моментах показалось нудновато, но в целом не влияет на общее впечатление от игры

ja, hat spaß gemacht, politisch wichtig, aber fand bisschen zu kurz. hätte mich auch sehr über einen zeitsprung zum blutmai, der märzrevolution oder dem ersten weltkrieg gefreut

Це дуже незвична гра яка окуне вас в історію однієї квартири в Берліні, і покаже вам різні цікаві історії людей які жили в цій квартирі. Дуже рекомендую пройти цю гру, вона не довга, але приємна ))
