The Beginner's Guide is a narrative video game from Davey Wreden, the creator of The Stanley Parable. It lasts about an hour and a half and has no traditional mechanics, no goals or objectives. Instead, it tells the story of a person struggling to deal with something they do not understand.

Prices
Each in the currency that store quoted — not converted: the gap between two rows is the publisher's pricing, not an exchange rate.
Every market we collect.
Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 2.57/day in the week to Aug 10 → 15/day in the week after.
Too few observations to say whether a discount moves this store's chart at all: across the last 30 days Steam · Top Sellers · Poland has just 18 day-to-day chart moves that followed a price cut, against 2,498 that did not. We are publishing the count instead of a direction — 20 is the fewest we will draw a conclusion from, and price collection outside the United States began on 6 August 2026.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

A great game and an important one! not gonna go into details but the message doesn't just apply to artists or game developers
I'm happy with myself that I predicted the twist almost immediately.

actually incredible game in under 2 hours
This game is not a classical game. It's a personal story wrapped in interactive media. You will likely love it or not care for it at all and consider it wasted money. That's worth the gamble because you might love it, if you think that's not worth the gamble, you are correct.

ГЕНИАЛЬНО! ЭТО ШЕДЕВР
I don't really know what to make of this game, but it sure was thought evoking.
The Beginner's Guide

Positives:
+ Original idea + The game starts of brilliantly + Atmospheric + The philosophy and deeper meaning + Mysterious and confusing + Nice storytelling + Very good voiceacting + Acceptable graphics + Excellent sounds and music + A lot of interesting levels + At its best its pure art + Will most likely make you reflect a lot + A few easter eggs (look it up if you cant find them) + Divided into chapters for easy replayability
Negatives:
- No achievements - Very low FOV and no in-game adjuster (fix below) - The second part of the game is a tad worse than the first - Some parts are not varied enough - Not all levels are great - So many invisible walls (are all neccessary?) - You mostly cant explore freely - Strangely enough the game dips a bit in the end - Its quite short (over in about 1.5 - 2 hours)
Conclusion:
What can I say about this game, or should I say experience? First off, its a linear walking simulator where you cant do much else but to follow a given path. But it does so in a very good way. The key here is in the storytelling and the untold story. There are so many layers beneath the surface. So should you play it? Well, if you like games that make you think during and after experiencing it, yeah definitely. If casual walking simulators are not your thing, you should still give it a try. Remember, the story is what really matters here. And who doesnt love a good story?
Total Score: 8/10
PS! If you want to fix the FOV, do the following: - Go to <steam library folder>\steamapps\common\beginnersguide\cfg\ - Open the config.cfg file - Edit "cl_fov 75" to values of your liking - F.ex. for widescreen (16:9) format: "cl_fov 106" - Save and start the game. Enjoy!
