The Beginner's Guide is a narrative video game from Davey Wreden, the creator of The Stanley Parable. It lasts about an hour and a half and has no traditional mechanics, no goals or objectives. Instead, it tells the story of a person struggling to deal with something they do not understand.

Discounts
Every price cut of more than 20% we have observed, in each market that quoted one, with this game's chart position on either side of it. These are episodes, not a model: a sale is one event, and one event cannot tell you what the next one will do.
Reviews, worldwide (the counter carries no country): 2.57/day in the week to Aug 10 → 15/day in the week after.
For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 26 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 7 places towards #1, and the 2,400 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

I have very mixed reviews about this game. It was a decent playthrough, but the characters have really put me on the spot. I just feel bad for Coda ngl.
A beautiful, thought provoking game with an emotional depth I don't see in much media that keeps you hooked from the very beginning until the very end. Not much of a game rather than an interactive experience, but still one I would absolutely recommend trying out for yourself. More than worth the 10 dollar sales price <3.

Less a game and more an experiance. Can't really give detail without spoling it. Not that long, couple of hours max. Specil props to the art directon. Showing that, even simple graphics can really add emotion and story to a narrative when done by someone who knows their stuff.
Absolutely unbelievable. Genius. Go in blind. Don't read anything. Just play this. It's 2 hours.
This isn't much of a "game", but it is a story. A fantastically deep story that I keep thinking about frequently, even all these years later.
This is a game for those who want to see video games as art, maybe even avant garde art. It isn't as pretentious as that description makes it sound, but uses the language and form of video games to tell a compelling and concise story.
“Dear Davey, Thank you for your interest in my games. I need to ask you not to speak to me anymore. I wonder at times whether you think I am making these games for you. You’ve so infected my personal space that it’s possible I did begin to plant ‘solutions’ in my work somewhere, hidden between games. If there was an answer, a meaning, would it make you any happier? Would you stop taking my games and showing them to people against my wishes? Giving them something that is not yours to give? Violating the one boundary that keeps me safe? Would you stop changing my games? Stop adding lampposts to them? Would you simply let them be what they are? When I am around you I feel physically ill. You desperately need something and I cannot give it to you. I literally do not have it. Struggling to come up with new ideas is not making me depressed, low points are just a part of the process. The fact that you think I am frustrated or broken says more about you than about me. I realize that this doesn’t make sense to you just yet. Which is fine, you’re not my problem to solve. But I do hope that one day it clicks, and that you make peace with this thing you are wrestling. And when you finally see what I am talking about: don’t say anything.”
