The Battle of Sol

Bad UI, Bad controls, glitchy (currently that star from the title screen is frozen on my screen in the center of view so I basically can't see what's under my crosshair anymore), crashed twice, forgettable story, very repetitive gameplay... Stay clear of this crap.

Huh, go figure. They took a fun little game (Sol: Exodus) and made it less fun. Then they make you play part of the game as the bad guys. Hard pass for me. Play Sol:Exodus instead. It's a short game but a lot of fun.

Me lembrou muito um jogo da franquia Star Wars de Playstation 1, obviamente de naves, tem o mesmo problema que havia naquele jogo, a sua jogabilidade é "pesada" tudo demora pra responder no jogo, em momentos em que você tem que ter muita precisão e o jogo não da qualquer tipo de ajuda com isso, no máximo estabilizando sua nave, porem isso também não ajuda TANTO. Algumas coisas que poderiam deixar a jogabilidade melhor, seria, por exemplo, os foguetes que uma das naves tem, ser tele-guiado mesmo que levasse um tempo para fazer isso. Trilha sonora do jogo quase inexistente, ou pelo menos eu não notei pois estava MUITO desbalanceado o som. História relativamente boa, sem MUITA criatividade, o bacana é que você joga com pessoas de ambas as facções o que te da um ponto de vista de ambos os lado. Nota 3/10 Preço muito alto para a jogabilidade apresentada, se ela fosse melhor, respondesse mais rapidamente, com certeza seria no minimo um 6/10, infelicidade, jogo tinha potencial.

If you like plot based arcade space combat sims like Wing Commander and Freespace you'll like The Battle of Sol. Looks great, plays fine but has the occasional bug. One major annoyance was setting up the joystick throttle axis because of unintuitive control setup. While the game ends on a high note there is a hook for a sequel/DLC that will probably, and unfortunately, never materialise. All in all a much improved version of Bit Planet's previous Sol:Exodus. They learned from their mistakes there and improved in all areas. More like this, please!

The game failed to give a coherent tutorial while using only one interface method. I had to sort of frankenstein my way through using both input methods. I can see what this game is trying to accomplish. It is an on-rail with combat instance-based adventure. Probably with a rail shooter segment here and there. There are better more modern alternatives for this kind of space 6DOF space combat, and some involve a sandbox world or a more streamlined control interface. Removing Battle of Sol for being redundant with a dated execution on its feature set.

Hey guys.. weeell.. all in all this wasn't such a bad game after all. Just push back your exspectations.. your competetive mind.. and then it is a quite enjoyable expirience. I was playing this with the tobii eye tracker and though there are better space sims to make this expirience.. well it was still really cool to play this game for moments when I need something casual to enjoy. The story was a nice though plain one. It was like a day dreaming from a sci fi fan. Nothing big. But I would consider it outstanding. I could become a fan of it if it was deeper. Even if I liked listening to it. The campaign was fastly done. I admit I put it on easy to enjoy flying spacecrafts and fighting other spacecrafts in this neat little game. The grafics are not outstanding though the designs are really cool. The story is short and gets to the point without any trickery or confusion. The ship steering is easy and enjoyable. What else can I say? Competative players better go somewhere else. Casual players who need a moment to relax might like this one. Thanks for developing! Gotta see if I try out the sequel if I can spare some money! Cheers!
